Still you have to remember that Chernorus became a communism-free country so it has various goods from across the world and not only low quality and even lower quantity stuff made in USSR conquered-participant countries.

Nevertheless I also think that there should be more types of food and sodas. Where are glass bottles with sodas? Why there is no vodka? Why you can't brew or distill your own beverages?

I also bought this game long time ago, but in Q1'2014 the game was unplayable.

I tried it again half a year ago (only two patches: 0.57 > 0.58) and I play it ever since however I also got some kinda bored as plenty of people left the game.

It seems there there is a handful of players left. In 0.57 there were plenty of full servers. Now there like dozens at most, more often a few servers with 38-40 48-50 players logged in.

No zombies.

No fun killing bambies or bambies with barely decent armament (MP5/CR75).

No fun traveling in cities (massive FPS drop in cities).

Almost no vehicles (V3S) as they are already hidden and no new spawns of them.

Hardly bearable loot distribution system (ridiculous spawn or no spawn).

No bicycles.

Hardly a handful of clothing pieces.

Poor crafting system (very little of items to craft).

You can barely do a hunt for animals - complete randomness of wildlife spawn.

Very very long development life cycle (players tend to be bored as updates took place barely once a quarter).

Early alpha status for almost 2 years.

I think that this shop in Berezino (a little bit south of Police Station) has been that way also in 0.57.

Check your HDD. Look for bad sectors. You may use HDTune or any other HDD scan software.

When you finish the scan and your HDD won't have any bad sectors then update drivers for your chipset (motherboard) and video card.

All areas in in fire stations are able to be entered.

Stairs... you just have to vault near them and then turn your character towards the stairs and voila.

The wrong thing is that in fire stations you can't go up stairs normally and you can go to the ladders through walls. That is wrong.

Yep, motorbike helmets shouldn't be wearable when having on your face other stuff from glasses and bandannas and balaclavas. All other types of in-game masks somewhat don't fit under a motorbike helmet if we were to test it IRL.

You should add that in your post so would be more clear and precise.

Helmets and gas masks are commonly used across the world. There is nothing wrong with that.

However Gas Mask and Gorka Helmet with Visor seems to be clipping through each other.

If this is true (no bullet protection at all) then IMHO it should be changed ASAP (it's a quick fix). However such vests don't give much protection and no protection at all when shot with a high caliber bullet.

So the question is if bullets in DayZ are calculated separately (every type of bullet has its own characteristic) and every armor hit is calculated as well separately (every hit is calculated based on a particular projectile).

They won't.

And TBH I encountered twice similar action. I killed a guy and on the list there were players with nicks corresponding to the clan owning the server and few seconds after I killed that guy the server was restarted.

Once I was one of 2 survivors from 8 players and I was alone that day - I just encountered 3 groups of players in my position and luckily I wiped out 3, and others wiped the rest (funny thing). All took like 20-30 seconds and after my last kill the server restarted. It happened in 0.57 - there were more players back then. Now servers are abandoned - I think it is impossible too meet 3 different groups of players in one place (making it a meeting point of 4 groups).

How to change UI to a new/old version? I've been looking for that option in menu but I haven't found any.

I'd like to test new UI if the one I use now is the old one and it seems it is as it is similar to the one from Q1'14.

The issue seems to be similar to the scenario you described but when I change jacket, pants and vest to end-game ones (PautRev + Plate Carrier) then I can travel on the rain constantly and neither of other clothing/sacks become damp.

And few seconds is enough to get damp status when wearing clothes made from tanned and dyed leather.

Why Military Boots make themselves damp only when having Brown Leather Set and never when having PautRev Set even when walking on invisible water?

Why gloves became damp?

I cant check, but inventory also became damp as well as weapons which never occurs when wearing high quality military clothes?

BTW: I cannot test anymore. Uninstalled DayZ yesterday. I need a break till beta stage. Got bored of playing on minimal details when I want to PvP in cities. Got bored playing DayZ on empty servers. Got bored walking on NWAF on full servers and not meeting any players. And finally - got bored playing DayZ as majority of players left the game after 0.58 - there is no one to play with anymore.

See you in 2017.

Some bambi kid robbed me and then killed me when I was AFK typing a post here. I just saw the last moment of my quite a long life span and heard his childish voice.

Another lesson - do not post here when in populated servers.

I've tested the issue once again.

  1. With Brown Leather Backpack.

After 4-5 second on the rain my character went damp.

All items were damp excluding Brown Leather Hat and Designer Glasses.

I was wearing Brown Leather set (Hat, Jacket, Vest, Pants) and Military boots and Working Gloves. All those items went damp after few seconds.

  1. Without Brown Leather Backpack.

Exactly the same as with a backpack.

It's not good when all items become damp after few seconds of rain and TBH - all my items are some kinda water proof (typical working gloves needs like 30 minutes of heavy rain to become wet inside), military boots are almost impenetrable by a rain and leather itself is waterproof.

Anything more to test?

I was wearing almost complete set of Brown Leather clothing at that time.

The only pieces different were Military Boots (Pristine) w/ Combat Knife (Pristine) and Designers Glasses (Worn).

In other words I was wearing Brown Leather Hat, Brown Leather Jacket, Brown Leather Storage Vest and Brown Leather Pants.

Also I was wearing a Brown Leather Backpack.

Having PautRev Gorka set (Pristine) and Plate Carrier Complete Set (Pristine) and Tortilla Backpack (Pristine) I can hardly get wet on rain but Tortilla is 100% waterproof.

Should I try going out during the rain w/o Leather Backpack to test it once again?

How should I proceed? I often play on servers with rainy weather occurring so it is possible to test the subject more extensively.

How long would it be to be still dry in a rain wearing leather clothes? I understand it is rare scenario as I prefer to wear Gorka clothes and not crafted leather.

Is the coloring of the leather clothes mean something at all? Should I test all variants?

After watching it I came to a conclusion that playing dead should be available just as waving a hand or giving a finger.

It's some kinda nice to be a live trap so your friends would have the ability to ambush players which will fall into such trap.

After receiving a feedback from my friend I can confirm that the problem is repeatable.

when he wanted to log in into his account then my character name and character was visible on the start page but in Favorites there were my friend's servers added (as yesterday there were mine).

I think you could easily test it in your own environment so I won't have to ask my friend to test it more on his PC.

It seems that some files stored on the local HDD are common to any Steam account thus it may seem a simple case but instead it needs quite a big redesigning.

I can test whatever is needed, my friend lives like 100m away so the only thing we need is some beer/vodka to socialize so I can once again try to log in to Steam on his PC (and his PC is familiar to my account ATM).

I've tested it more.

I can't dupe 7,62x39mm but I can do that with 5.45x39mm now.

I think it depends on the initial condition of what hapend to the item before it popped in our Inventory.

It seems that you can do it on freshly picked up items.

I removed ammo from a mag and could do the dupe only once. After that it went OK again.

I think the issue is related to badly designed item refresh function in 0.58.

I've managed to dupe some more 7,62x39mm but only those stacks I pickud up from the ground and only by splitting the initial (picked up) stack.

I think it may concern all types of stackable items which can be picked up from the ground and then split.

I don't know how I duped the ammo removed from a mag - I can't reproduce it.

It seems that only picked up items have this issue and only under really complicated conditions.

I think the issue is not worth investigating as Devs do know and do fix issue with refreshing items after actions performed on such items (refill/repair/combine).

Devs: Please close this issue or add some portions of it to the issue related to fixing bad refresh of the items state and count.

During research of other errors related to game running/server joining I've encountered some Google feedback which corresponds with VB++ Redistributables. You can try to uninstall VB++ Redistributables and then reinstall them.

Download those redistributables first when you have them on the list of installed apps (Win+R > appwiz.cpl).

be aware that those redistributables may also be used by other games and apps. Don't mess with your Windows if you do not feel capable of doing so.

Pity you did not post any errors related to that issue (if there are any error codes shown anyway).

Try to update Windows and drivers and then check again.

Reinstalling Steam and DayZ is also a possibility but probably you won't like it (other installed games from Steam etc.).

AKM is a very powerfull weapon with plenty of force to give back to the soldier after every single round fired. I've never fired a machine gun IRL, only .44 Magnum and lesser weapons, but I can only imagine that AKM is so powerfull that .44 Magnum is a toy when compared, and .44 Magnum can easily get your hands injured.

Even in the video posted by sukablyat2 we can clearly see how the AKM pushes back that guy. And he is not firing continuously but as he should fire AKM (2 shot burst, just to be sure the head is ripped of the enemy's torso).

TBH I'd rather do a research in the direction of having the DMG of AKM bullets increased so AKM would be finally significantly more powerful than AK74 as they seem to be almost the same in the way of dealing damage.

Don't be so minimalistic.

There are plenty of features yet to be implemented into GUI and that list is long even in a small area of server listing.

Let me elaborate:

  • allowing to resize columns
  • allowing to order columns
  • allowing to turn on/off particular columns
  • fixing the refresh button as after a refresh the order of items on the list changes without taking a users choice of order into account
  • adding a column with private/public attribute
  • adding a column with the server country of origin
  • adding a column with duration of a cycle
  • adding a column with information about server restarts
  • adding a column with 1st/3rd person perspective
  • adding a column with normal/hardcore attribute

I think the list is not finished.

But I think reporting issues concerning GUI which will be probably replaced by another one are a waste of time ATM.

You can try the method which is used by glitchers.

There is a thread on this forum with videos of exploits/glitches. One is describing going under houses.

Try to get out from that trap by using a prone position or using vaults ("V" key).

If that won't help then try to use a method which allows glitchers to hide under houses in the first place.

Open game, log into a server, change game to Windowed (not full screen) so you can see an X icon which closes the window with the game. If you have a windowed mode on then run towards a wall leading out and while running press an X so the game will close. There is a chance that you will be outside after you log in back again.

Thrown items like to hang in the air as well.

Steps to reproduce:

Get a pistol from police station or a road flare/chemlight and throw it at a building.

Most likely the projectile will hang on invisible pixel or texel.

And your case should be observed on particular ground floors, as there are some areas when you shouldn't drop any items as they will most likely be teleported elsewhere (nearest entrance or another room/floor).

I am certain that I've closed and opened a door in that particular building and didn't noticed mirrored door icon state and I am almost positive that other players interacted with doors in that particular building as well. Nevertheless I will test the subject more as there is some new light to that matter.

@Geez: I will report my findings ASAP.

During the gathering nearby the NWAF I've asked my friends to check if they can pick up that Violet Quilted Jacket.

They can't pick it up as well as I am not able to do so.

On our server (IP given above) there are dozens of such items. They most likely spawned that way.

what can I do to test the issue more? How may I help?

Tested the issue some more.

I've once again found such items.

  1. Once again it happened in a civilian house
  2. Once again it impacted civilian items
  3. Once again I could take item in my hands (Vitamin Bottle) and then drag it into Inventory
  4. Once again I couldn't do anything with a Quilted Jacket (event put sth. in it)

I went back to that particular house after logging out, having a break (more than 30 minutes) then logging back onto the same server.

Can't try with another player if he could pick the jacket up.

Lags - not a chance. Smoothly working server, only me on it. Picked up Vitamin Bottle in a split second, but couldn't double click it thou.

It seems that some jackets when ruined stays on the ground like "persistence" items. I've managed to spot on various servers (same hive) and various locations some ruined jackets.

And Bambies' pants (jeans) seems to be as well staying longer than expected.

Maybe there is a reason for that? Items possessed longer than a particular amount of time are more persistent tnat picked&dropped items during manual server items wipe outs.

Date of occurrence: 10th of Oct 2015
Time of occurrence: about 01:00 CEST
Server Name: [CHG]Chimera-Gaming

Inventory state: AKM on back, AKM in hands, UMP in Olive High Capacity, Binoculars in M65 Jacket and binded to the "4" key.

How the bug popped up: Running fast towards Dubrovka from Grishino. Suddenly I decided to use binoculars. I pressed "4". The AKM in hands was put to the ground and dissapeared. Binoculars correctly put into hands.

Pressing "4" again - binoculars correctly put in the M65 Jacket.

Re-logging of the game didn't help.

I rarely travel with 2 major weapons on my char as there is a high chance of happening sth. bad. The above example is one of such mishap. I forgot to put AKM on ground myself. The alpha engine is full of bugs within conditional loops so there are still plenty of mishaps to happen.

The only fix to any glitches is to eliminate the glitches itself and there are probably dozens of already known glitches and possibly even more glitches not found yet.

You have to understand that not all players are exploiting game glitches. Only those retarded do so ;-)

SKS as the basic military grade weapon should be so high.

Imagine that devs will drop the amount of SKS's to be spawned.

Furthermore there will be a higher chance to find AK74/AKSU/AKM or even NATO weapons.

The overall amount of weapons should be dropped. But I think this will be implemented in new loot system as the present system is some kinda bad, full of flaws and I think Devs are right now implementing a new loot system.

Only the proper one for your Operating System.

The x86 is for 32-bit Windows, IA64 for Itanium based systems and x64 for 64-bit Windows.

  3. Uninstall DayZ

That was generic troubleshooting. Do it anyway as it is crucial before going to the next level.

Lets come to the more interesting part and so lets use Google for it.

Google server me once again with its first shot.

Try to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update

As it is mentioned as a solution when encountering 0xc0150002 error.

Above solution may lead to a conclusion that uninstalling VC++ redistributables and then installing them again could solve a problem alone, without doing all the stuff I've mentioned.

If all mambo jumbo mentioned above doesn't work then tell us:

  • CPU model
  • VGA model
  • OS version (with its bits and service pack)
  • RAM amount

or tell us your PC system name (vendor and model of your laptop).

For all I know the ghost sound is not connected to any of the character originated sound effects so It probably is a sound of the environment (you can be alone on the server IMHO).

Any means of creating logs?

@Basy40: I'd agree with reporter radar. The ghost sound I encounter from time to time is something like a gate opening/closing sound with a squeaky sound. It rarely occurs in deep forests, however in radius of about 500-1000m of villages the sound is more likely to occur.

Comparing to 0.57 there is much less ghost sounds and it's good those soda cans opening sound and eating sounds are eliminated but still it would be nice to detect the source of that particular ghost sound.

I suppose it is some kind of a placeholder sound which has been left since the early stage of development.

It would be nice to have the possibility to creating a log file with usage of every sound we hear with timestamps. That and some testing should locate the ghost sound quite fast.

Sure it needs but as far as we all are concerned animations are low priority unless they do influence stability of the game etc..

Not only animation of Range Finder is not properly implemented (it's probably a placeholder ATM and there is no one handed binoculars/range finder animation at all).

Another examples of bad animations:

  • hiding pistol in a Plate Carrier Complete Set;
  • drinking sodas from closed cans;
  • drinking water from closed canteens.

There are more crucial areas of development such as video engine (FPS drop issue), desynchronizing players driving a truck, improving (optimizing) network traffic, increasing server population to 75 and probably to 100 (I hope so).

I think animations and creating more models (more types of houses, more furnitures in houses, more variations of interiors, more items) would be a priority tasks just before going to beta stage and during the beta stage.

I think there is no implementation of attaching anything to that hand guard with rails. It's just a visual purpose only item ATM.

IMHO there should be a major redesigning of the behavior of a character inside a deep water but still we should all take into consideration that human being has a strong way to survive in the water so even with legs broken you should float or sth. instead of being drown.

I promise that when I will get my legs broken near the deep water then I will test it all the way I can.

Maybe the level of darkness is a little bit too high but still it represents the way it is IRL.

Imagine when you get to a closed shack or sth. from outside during a really bright day. You can't see a thing a while.

And that's what it happens in DayZ.

If any adjustments needed its only few percents of adjustments IMHO.

It may be too dark after facing the darkness but only slightly. That is my opinion in that matter and thus I voted "Nay".

I've come upon similar issue. It happened on the wrecked ship. I was running on the deck when suddenly I "wall hacked" into a room without active door nor any exit.

This issue seems to be a problem but the reason is not that such places are bugged but the whole collision mechanics are broken.

Zombies go through obstacles (walls, floors), items disappear beneath us, we can as well go through many obstacles such as fences and walls.

I wonder If I will get out of my spot or should I wait till I die (if possible).

Had that situation once. I fell down the stairs.

The hardest part was to get killed with no zombies nearby but I've finally found the bridge and jumped off it.

@Kira: Tried but jumping and running in corners only makes my char more hungry. That is good as I will soon die and will be able to start one more time.

The link you gave was a little of help. I appeared in that ship section not after logging in but during a walk on the deck. And all reports are closed so I can't post anything. Issue is known but it is not gonna be fixed soon as it is a major flaw in the game engine and its collision detection system. At least a couple of months to rewrite parts of the code responsible for detecting collisions.

BTW: Those screens (invisible loot) are uploaded by someone else so I think that I won't have to do it again as I think doing so is redundant.

Sorry for OT. My first day here. I need to get used to that clumsy interface.

I will try to post some screens of lost items which can be found a floor below. I will try to reproduce this issue as well.

I just need to get out of a wrecked ship where I glitched into a room without exits. It may take a while to starve or dehydrate to death.

Such issues are easy to counter if only devs want to counter it.

It only takes a check of the existing files and their checksum during a game loading and server joining. And to prevent files from removing during the game - just open those files so OS won't allow them to be removed.

I've tested the issue.

It still exists and seems to be a permanent bug easy to reproduce.

  1. Drop sth. on the ground.
  2. Try to drag it back into Inventory
  3. Try to scroll inventory items -> impossible

You need to have enough Inventory storage items so the list is scrollable.

Yep.

It still exists (unless you deployed a hot fix today).

Sometimes when you want to pick sth. up or craft sth. then you can't scroll the opposite tab (Inventory/Vicinity).

Not in all types of actions, but yeah - sometimes you need to scroll the right/left tab before you perform an action as you can't scroll inventory/vicinity when draging an item.

I think it is most likely to occur when you want to combine sth. with items in Inventory not with the Vicinity.

Open/Close action tag appears on the screen everytime we are in a proximity of a working doors. Floors and ceilings does not obstruct the proximity field.

It's the most common bug in DayZ I think. Easy to replicate. Fortunately it's not so dangerous as other bugs (missing loot, going through walls/floors/objects and teleporting into rooms without exits).

The FPS drops are still taking place in 0.58.

Different PC, ultra low setting, mid range setting, high end settings.

In the cities FPS is like 30% of what it is in the dense woods, military bases etc.

i5-4690 @ 3,5GHz / 8GB DDR3 / SSD / nV GF GTX 550Ti (yep, VGA is old but neat).

The funny part is that when I drop details to minimum there are only a few FPS more in the cities.

The engine is not optimized to process so many textures, even when we see less objects than in the woods.

Using binoculars when seeing trees as well gets you big FPS drop (from 60 vsynced to 35 and you see only 2,5 of a tree and a sky).

I am planning to buy GTX 960

On 10th of October 2015 about 0200-0230 CEST I've experienced possible dupe of item (was trying to store UMP in a barrel). When I wanted to relog my character save was reset to default. Switching servers from my favorite list (same hive) did not fixed the problem. However on different server my character has had a different save file (default but on different spawn place).

[edit1: seems that the save file is the same - I moved away from spawn place and now I seems to have a new save file with the previous save probably gone).

[edit2: on PHX I have different save than on CHG/AB/GGaming and other servers from the same hive. Since yesterday I could normally switch between PHX and CHG, AB, GG and other servers from my favorite list. Have hives been reconfigured somehow? Have servers been moved between hives (lost PHX)?]

I turned off and on the game itself, restarted PC, waited till morning (right now) - still my character save file is broken. Every time I log into a server my old save file is not loading.

Steps To Reproduce This happened to me for the first time. Ive read forum and there was some of that kind of issues reported and after tonight's mishaps there are more players experiencing the situation described here. It may be totally intermittent and connected to the items and events which take place just before logging out and back again.

Additional Information 1) Empty hands, empty back (weapon slot). UMP in Olive High Capacity Vest.

  1. Server when the bug occured: [CHG]Chimera-Gaming
  1. I tried to put UMP into a barrel. It lagged a lot and did not move into a barrel at all. I tried to put a UMP into my hands - no success.
  1. Went 4-5m away from barrels (3 of them, item count about 50 in all 3 barrels) the UMP went into my hands (action made before).
  1. Went back to barrels.
  1. Saw that there is an UMP in a barrel and in my hands (possible permanent dupe, 100% existing visual dupe).
  1. Put UMP from a barrel into my High Capacity Vest (with another UMP in hands) resulted in putting UMP from hands into a vest. Dupe in a barrel still visible.
  1. Reloggeed.
  1. Character reseted.
  1. Restarted to another server - char reseted and in other spawn place (same hive - PHX server).
  1. Logged back into Chimera - char still at default, freshly spawned.
  1. After few relogs - error - unable to load player profile. Reset the game and contact admin (or sth. similar)

Issue still exists. Zeds are constantly passing through obstacles.

School building is the best example as there are stairs, balconies and nearby walls/fences.

And of course our own characters can as well pass through an obstacle thus falling onto a room without exits.

Same thing happens to our loot. It disappears frequently and shows up after a while (leaving the area and getting back to it).

All those issues are obviously related to one mechanism - collision detection algorithms are broken and they probably need rewriting from scratch as the issue seems to occur in more than one update.
