Zeds clipping through objects [PRIMARY REPORT]

I was being chased by a zed, ran into a building and he did not appear to rise with the level of the floor relative to the ground outside. He clipped through the stairs and floor and was walking around about chest deep in the floor, still hitting me.

Zombies also confirmed to run through doors, walls fences and all other objects in path. {F28130} {F28131} {F28132} {F28133} {F28134} {F28135}

I have read Zed AI is on the to do list. I have seen some become agro after looking at them through a 4x scope from the other end of the runway up north.

I have to admit that I like how the AI doesn't seem to give up if you just run. It is like they have your scent....

Would appreciate priorities with zombies. If they can hit me while underneath the floor I'm on (i.e. in Air tower, I climbed to the floor above them and still was hit and bleeding. This in addition, reduced all my pristine stuff in my backpack to ruined). Please fix physics of the zeds before considering other attributes of them like their effects on the player.

Can confirm on players have the same ability at full run. Most walls, fences and other objects can just be ran right through. So it doesn't just apply to zeds.

Happens to me but sometimes the ai kicks in and works, had a zombie follow me upstairs in house today.

They have superman vision as well it seems.

Any ETA on a fix?

BEWARE! For I too have noticed ghost zombies and I play on windows 8 64 bit with a gaming laptop! Thus, definitely a game build issue.

Confirm. Char can clip too in house. Careful when disconnect !

The other day I was in the Krasnostav School and was attacked while on the third floor from an infected who happened to be on the ground floor. He hit me three times before I realized where he was and went downstairs to dispatch him.

I'd like to add that this also happens to players occasionally and typically results in death due to clipping through the wall of a 2nd story building, tower, or other high place.

I see this all the time in the game. It does make the game a bit more interesting by adding some extra drama by knowing you are not even safe in a building.

However there was only one instance that I can recall where the zombies did not clip through buildings. They went up stairs and around obstacles as they should. Like I said it only happened one time a few days ago but I haven't seen it since.

Issue still exists. Zeds are constantly passing through obstacles.

School building is the best example as there are stairs, balconies and nearby walls/fences.

And of course our own characters can as well pass through an obstacle thus falling onto a room without exits.

Same thing happens to our loot. It disappears frequently and shows up after a while (leaving the area and getting back to it).

All those issues are obviously related to one mechanism - collision detection algorithms are broken and they probably need rewriting from scratch as the issue seems to occur in more than one update.

nothing new... but needs fixed ASAP.

please address immersion and game quality breaking things like this before adding 10 new soda skins

In version 0.35.115188, after a server restart I noticed that 3 zombies followed me into the Berezino hospital and chased me up to the roof without clipping through any walls that I noticed. Screen shots posted.

Really about time to fix this issue.
It's beeing annoying me since day one.

guys, this is NOT a bugged out issue, these are slighlty recoded zeds from the mod code, and also placeholders until the newer systems are implemented, for me, in alpha this is no issue, i hardly ever have issues with zeds as i sneak up and twot them with my axe before they even see me, as i would in the game when it is finished and as i do if i play the mod. The devs are clearly not ignoring these issues, but the zombies are being worked on for a totally new system probably by some of the Bohemia devs as they may understand how to better code them to work on a melee only basis (the zig zagging of the mod zeds was due to them acting as soldiers with guns, except they were not soldiers and didnt have guns so it was a military style evasive manuever by the ai that was and probably still is hard coded into these placeholders) lets not waste developers time by reporting something that is 1 being fixed and 2 always been a huge topic for debate since the mod

they now have a WHOLE new studio that bohemia bought in slovakia, with a team of 25 people from that studio who are all experts in the field of pathfinding and ai. these people will be carrying on the work on zombies now and i imagine they will help to bring the z behaviour to a awesome level, for now i will continue to look for bugs that no one has discovered. please everyone who reads this do the same. all the devs know this is a huge issue. but are still working on other things while the team responsible for creating the new zombie code do their job. thanks

Exactly. Zombies are dicks. Dicks should be lured into and locked inside buildings. Then they can have a giant dickparty.

The fact that the Zombies have no collision is fucked up, even for an Alpha.

hacksaw is not being updated for one... if you want to rant please take it to the forums, this space is not about moaning. it is about feedback. the zombies are being worked on by a whole team of developers from a studio recently bought by bohemia in slovakia so just have some patience and enjoy what the game does have so far, or dont play it for a while and check it out every month or so to see the significant update changes when you play.

the zombies currently in the game are just newly modelled dayz mod ai code. they are not representative of the new zombies that will be implemented within the roadmap time frame. look for new bugs and add feedback to existing bug trackers, instead of add pointless rants to trackers that have been old news for over 5 months

what you call moaning IS feedback, please refrain from preaching mr. Meh Know It All. when you earn somuch money on an alpha it shouldnt take somuch time for devs to resolve the most important issue.

your note clearly holds very little information about an actual bug that is not known or being worked on, that, is feedback. you have i'm afraid, just moaned. that kind of "feedback" should go in the forums

Agh! when will the status go to resolved!?

I noticed this just now that when I am walking in towns quietly or in an area that Zombies are normally not found one or two zombies will start chasing me full sprint and chase me down in which I can not shake them. I thought this was something I did at first because the first time it happened I was chased out of town turned and fire my pistol at them they went down, mind you I was a good ways from any town, buildings and main roads when I fired and 2 more popped out of the distance chasing me. Like I said I thought maybe it was me but when I respawned in the middle of no where I was gathering my self then 2 zombies out of no where came at me full sprint again... then I died, then again as I was approaching a town after I had spawned.

Please fix it let the other objects wait and fix this first!

does anyone has any recent infrmation on how far they are in resolving this or setting up an all new zombie system?

the latest information about this section of the game, is that bohemia interactive recently purchased an existing development studio that specialise in pathfinding and ai in slovakia, which are now the main team working on pathfinding for the new zombies that should eventually make their way into the game, they are working also on the pathfinding of the new animals and everything related to the new physics being implemented which in turn has an impact with regards to the new zombie and animal ai etc. it is annoying that the zombies are able to run through walls and all that stuff, but it has been said in many places for info on dayz that this is just something that will be the case while the new code and models are worked on. will be great once the new models etc are implemented but it is not a high priority as there is so much other stuff that needs to be implemented so all the core features are in game before beta stage can commence. :)

I hope the new zombie ai will be in the game until version 0.50.
We do not need to cook etc. The main thing of the game, the zombies, need to e fixed.

Until all this new things are implemented, I prefer to play Rust.

This has also happend to me.

Navmesh has been completed and is being merged into main branch now that experimental branch has been released. We are now working on better filtering of the objects rasterized into the navmesh and on connecting the doors (i.e. dynamic objects in navmesh).

For the AI, basic structure and analysis underway (things as multithreading of AI and networking) so as the new AI is created this will be added for the start.

Supermarket backdoors you can add to the list. When the server is under heavy load zeds walk through walls too. This is from EXP with the new Navmesh

zeds currently clip more or less reliably (latest experimental build) through the log taverns. also noticed in the "pubsmall" building as well as the quadratic "food" building (here mostly through doors)

In exp 0.47 zeds are chasing players upstairs now and then, but often they fall through the stairs , ending up either dead or stuck.

At 0.47 there is improvement with navmesh zombies and everything but only a bit they still can get inside building sometimes.but the weird things is zombies still always can get inside building but not through doors ive been closed, i think theres a "leak" somewhere in the wall, so zombie just need to get around the building and enter the building through the "leak" it's really weird when you r chased by zombie and u know the zed will come to the door u just closed,but he just walk around and pop up inside the building from somewhere else

8/8/14, experimental 0.48.124699 : zombies still glitch through walls/closed doors.

Played on Friday (8 Aug) and Saturday (9 Aug), and this issue still appears to be happening :(

Zeds do still run through walls and doors and pretty much act like there are the Hulk. Shoot I would rather them act more like hulk smashing through objects than it would be something fun to look at whilst they beat you down. For Shame DHall and other devs for "fixing" this issue. You guys need to get your shit together or NO ONE will buy the PS4 version or the Beta (if he ever gets that far which by the way I seriously doubt it will ever get passed alpha. He's got our money now he's gonna run.)

There are still problems with the zeds. A few days back I got killed by a zombie, which was on a different floor. They still walk through doors.

Here we are, a year later, and still no fix.

It was better for a while - but with the latest update, the zombies glitch through the walls like on early versions before.

The "nice" thing about it is that they obviously cannot climb stairs anymore - or if so, only to half the height of the stairway.

They clip through the floors in some buildings, Hit you from the floors below in some buildings (Cop shops in some areas). Run through some fences, walls,and barriers.

Can you tell us how this merge went in may 2014?

Can confirm zombies are still iffy. I'd be perfectly fine with them clipping through the doors (Just have the door automaticly open so it looks like they're crashing through it, or they take a few seconds to crash through the door, etc.) but they also clip through walls and floors (Punched a zombie, fell through floor into basement, etc.)

zombies also turn invisible sometimes when blocked by a door (i.e. fire station N of electro)

Zombies are still running through doors and can hit through walls sometimes. The door issue seems to be a desync between the door states on the client and server.

As of update 0.57 Zombies are back to walking straight through doors as though they are not there. This is not just on the odd occasion but EVERY time now.

@Geez maybe close this ticket because it's obsolete?
