try to do the most basic things of all, delete "ArmA3" in your doccuments folder inside the arma 3 folder, it holds your selected addons and graphics configuration, but its what causes most of the start-up errors

and if you haven't checked on real life anecdots, just dont say nothing, yes, actually most of the soldiers trained in underwater enviroments can survive for around 5 minutes, however, i agree the duration for you to survive underwater should be limited by your character (maybe an RPG element?) its not unrealistic for the character to survive this long.

vryoffbtdrummr, then you should try it out before thinking its not possible, maybe in a dive of 15 or less grades downside you can reach 300 km/h pretty fast.

I agree, deacceleration its unrealistic, but one of the ArmA weak points is the unrealistic flight physics, mods like ACE, or things like (if they add it) the TOH way to fly choppers will change that

There are rumours that the maker of the animations works with BIS, i think you haven't played ArmA 3 at all or not enough, because the sniper sitting stance is in the game and i find "cover" useless in FPS as you can take basic cover in this game by yourself, i find, however, neccessary to have an option to jump walls

not really, yes, the heli could have been added into the game and it could be real in the 2035, but judging by the design of it and the pics, i can already tell you the chopper is not gonna be mass-produced, and its gonna stay a prototype

No, this is not DRM, mulledk, DRM means to be always online, this kind of games just need you to log in to steam, after that, disconnect from internet and you can still play arma 3, same is happening with just cause 2

kol9yn, if that's a COD joke, i think no one needs to explain that in the real life there are over 100 attachments that can be used on most of the weapons, and not even 10 of them are used by the soldiers nowdays, we dont want common infantry to spawn with an under the barrel shotgun, we just want attachments for fun or for making personal weapons in MP or in certain missions

Dark, i dont know why, but your comment was badly redacted, i had to read it several times and i still dont get it, i never said the upper rail for scopes are just in nowdays weapons, i just said that modern weapons are using 2 sidebarrels rails, i knew that most of them used to have just 1 for the right side, and most of the guns still dont have an lower barrel rail.

"Muzzle - 1 slot
RIS rail on top - basically 3 slots (example: AIMPOINT 3xMAG+CompM3+LPI)
RIS side rails left+right: 2 slots (handguards or additional stuff)
Bottom RIS rail: 2 slots (tactical foregrip+flashlight)
Magazine: 1 slot.
Basically, 9 slots here."

Dark, how do i explain this to you... maybe i forgot about the upper barrell rail because its something just a few guns have, but:

Sights/upper reciever rail : 1
muzzle : 1
Side rails : 1/2
Bottom rails : 1 (flashlight is in the side rail, and the foregrip can also be changed for a GL, or sometimes a secondary gun)

Magazines dont count.

there you go, 4 standar rails for most of the weapons, nowdays weapons are using 2 side barrel rails.

never said a pistol would use an ACOG X4 zoom....

but there are people who uses them with small aimdots or holo sights because a pistol with no night sight is hard to use, and they are not as accurate as using a holo sight.

and yes, i forgot weapons can have 2 side barrel attachments, as i forgot about the attachment under the barrel of the pistol, for wich an IR laser, visible red laser, or a flash could be mounted

Actually the standar rifle has just 4 attachments port, for scopes, GL/hand grip, muzzle, and barrel, not 8.

BUT, dont forget there are optics that can be used in pistols

Upvoted, i always loved rappels and fastroping, but remember this: Fast roping takes longer and is unsafer than normal landing and take off, its barely used at all when the pilot must inserct in very small areas (for example, a big city, or in forests) and in real life almost no military force do that kind of inserction

not really, p00d, its just a light source, and i understood i was wrong, tracers ARE a light source, but barely noticeable without NVG, it would kill performance if it was a light source, particles, and has AI at the same time, but light source does not kill performance, with the amount of light used in the tracers, even less

i watched the same video over and over again, Tracers glow just enough to be seen, nothing more, and Bigpickle, i dont have a shitty PC, but even if i do, i dont think that is a reason to inult somebody else, besides, even if i can run ArmA 3 maxed out at >70 constant FPS i dont see how i want to add better lighting if that is not realistic

Yes, ArmA 3 should have a realistic application to the SF groups, either in mass, small ops, undercover, patrols (like in vietnam), etc.

mwnciboo, you convinced me, however, there is still the fact that Spec ops are being used in real life for different missions, maybe in the campaign of the game you play the first parts as a SOF in a unit that must strike first, get intel, destroy AA to support friendly troops (pretty much the same thing as the campaign in Arma 2) or just stealth missions, i know they are not universal, they are not armed with nanosuits (i REALLY love that thing...)and they are not chuck norris/Rico Rodriguez/Gordon Freemans.

But if they do exist, then it must be because of something.

and in real life, there are several missions wich include large amounts of navy seals (30 or around) doing missions together (example, the elimination of "bin laden"), and if we go REALLY back in time, in the vietnam war, Seals were just a small group of people used in recon/assaults wich had lots of air support.

i know they are not the main focus, but it WOULD be realistic to have them.

and like stated before, if you really take a close look, the units used already in arma 3 have pretty much a Spec Ops equipment

actually, i am sure marines in both UK and US sides are not elite infantry, just a joint force with somewhat different training and equipment, they are not exactly better than the army.

and Special forces are not THAT useless, but most of their jobs is to get intel, or they can do like in vietnam and bring back the LRRP, now THOSE guys were REALLY needed in SF missions.

Rangers or ainrborne/paratroopers are elite infantry, and mwnciboo, the reason why people like SOF missions is because the REAL LIFE SOG missions are quite interesting and really hard, after all, the players/soldiers MUST BE trained, hard, smart and good at what they do, but yeah, the concept of a special operator has been twisted too much nowdays.

besides, i am pretty sure the units in arma 3 are the Spec ops ones, i mean, i dont know since when the US army uses a standar pistol and 2 mags for a common rifle man and changed the size from 12-13 soldiers per squad to 10

I am not worried about performance in a mix of both islands. I'm really not. After all, ArmA 3 still does 60 on med graphics with high visibility on a 4 years old low end rig like mine. Besides, i thought that ArmA 3 already had documented assets?

I am not a map builder. i just misunderstood what roger said. I have no idea about modding, but even then, as long as the map object and terrain themselves can be ripped from "Altis" and "Stratis", making a bigger watermass and placing both *SHOULD* (AFAIK) work with no problems. BIS could actually help, or support, or even do this themselves tho.

I hate to be a necromancer and revive old tickets, since this one is dating from a long time ago, but considering that a performance impact is obvious and if we overlook it, it would only be a matter of importing Stratis, Altis, creating a mega-giantic watermap, and placing them both together, since they are all using vanilla resources, they wouldn't even be heavy in size, and since the game doesn't load up terrain out of visibility, it would not really affect performance either. This would only provide a map with 2 actual asphalt main airports and a big amount of terrain between them, making the idea that they are enemy airports more realistic, instead of having two short airstrips 1km of lenght each and having all kinds of jet take off and fight with a travel of less than 30 seconds.

BIS is not EA/Infinityward, they will not relase a DLC with just 1 remaked map.

people will buy A2 because there are already finished mods and on going dev. mods for it, besides, people think after A3 get relased its gonna be buggy again and its gonna take years before it becomes playable, besides, this is not the "ultimate" arma game, yes, its WAY too amazing, but there is still things they can do, and when another arma game come out, people will want this same thing with Arma 4 graphics ported, and BIS cant do that to EVERY ArmA game relased

and why do you think a 8.5 MM bullet should have as much recoil as a 5.56? the 8.5 has more recoil, dont make yourself the idea an MX-x- is the same as an M16 or an M4

you obviously didn't understood my previous comment, what i meant, is that with no graplin hook, seals wouldn't be able to board ships from water to the boat itself, and using air inserction was possible ever since before arma 2

look, the only way water boarding is used when not being stealthy its when the lenght to cover its so big they cant do nothing else, when you can send a boat 10 km into the open sea in the game, then boarding ships would be possible, and even in arma 2 it was, it was buggy using ACE fastropes and mostly addons boats, but you could board enemy ships, hwoever, you cant board ships from the water because there is no graplin hook in the game.

Taking over ships in the middle of the sea for the US/NATO factions are EXTREMELY rare

Bwach, you cant disarm mines underwater with an explosion, maybe you can in land, but its not only dangerous underwater, but what's the point of destroying them if you have to silently disarm them? makes no sense.

a guy back when .52 was just relased complained that you should be able to run and shoot at the same time, the devs agreed, now you can do it, this is not a problem, but a feature, even though almost 90% of the votes on the ticket were negative, the devs added that into the game.

i know that aldo, and loki, its NOT that hard, its just the game to think "if magazine bullet amount => 1 then new magazine + 1 round".

Of course, it may cause serious problems with the AI doing the same thing

no.... loki, that's not what i meant, what i mean is not only to drop empty mags and be able to use them even as empty for X reason in-game, but also to have the bullet in the chamber counted in as ammo, Even MGS1 in the 98' did this, but OFP in 2001 didn't

Loki, you dont understand, ANY weapon can load ANY bullet in the chambet and besides, have a mag loaded, the weapon doesn't really can be ANY weapon in existance but a gun with a Magazine system.

mwncibook, so, if we dont add singular bullet physics then tac reloading is maybe useless? Mags in ArmA uses a script i think to tell the game how many bullets the clip have inside, we are talking about just an addition for the game to tell if the gun have a bullet in the chamber or if its empty

pystub, do you want to use bio-friendly bags in arma 3? for BIS to simulate bullet by itself instead of mags with X amount of shots left is almost impossible with a new engine, i dont request too much, this kind of things can be done with a little bit of modding and scripting, and i dont think soldiers really care (not a soldier, so i am not sure) about bringing the empty mags back to the base when they are just dead weight and they are pretty much useless.

And maybe i forgot to add, i usually reload a lot in arma 2, even with bullets in the mag, it doesn't even have to be empty for that
