Yea, that would probably be against the current stance of no more engine changes so mods don't get broken every time.
@NeilZar Is there a reason why only helicopters have the hithull hp depend on the Total hp? Most probably a legacy thing :/ After the tank damage improvements it would be nice to also take a look at how our other vehicles (e.g. aerial...) were set up, but I'm this will remain only as a wish.
I am sorry to say we won't be changing the behavior. When altering the damage with script it's needed to take care about both - the HPs and Total damage (or even take the affected vehicle config into account).
We can't change the behavior without affecting already released content and there might be situations when you want to just change one HP without affecting the Total damage.

This should only be valid for helicopters - their hitHull HPs are configured with depends = "Total". (May be true for some other or modded vehicles too)
If I do
vehicle player setDamage 0.6; {vehicle player setHitIndex [_ForEachIndex,0];} forEach ((getAllHitpointsDamage vehicle player) select 0)
on a vanilla tank the hitHull remains 0.0.

Thank you for the report. Is your system up-to-date as well? Does this happen even with default parameters set?
Have you tried a complete clean isntal of Arma 3? Not just uninstalling via steam I mean a real clean instal. Meaning unistalling Arma via steam and then deleting files that are still stored in Arma 3s steam folder.

I can confirm this happens with vehicles. I found out that the part that depends on the total damage will get reset because Total can only be reset using setDamage.

As of January 29, 2019 this is still an issue. Come on Devs. This bug completely breaks the VTOL in many servers.

This is still an issue. Really annoying... And thunder always plays no matter what.
It happened 18 january, i didn't change any settings in game, i didn't even open Arma launcher. But I have updated mod for server in special launcher. Other players of that server haven't ever seen this error. Also after emergence of my error i deleted mod, but it didn't help.
Is this a dedicated server? Does this happen without mods enabled?

0xC0000005 - ACCESS_VIOLATION is a very generic error meaning it can happen in a lot of different scenarious and it is likely that the error triggered during hosting a server is not related when it is triggered in singleplayer.

Repro mission
Updated this because I've noticed that it's based on the world north instead of group heading, making it confusing as all hell.
I can confirm. I have several players a day with that issue. BattleEye support either says it's client fault, server owner's fault or Bis's fault. Hope someone can find a workaround (other than change IP)

It just happened to me in a campaign mission in singleplayer
This also is the case for vehicle damage set to "´Main rotor (helicopter)". Anti-torque works, main rotor does not. A3 Version 1.88.145285

Can confirm this issue for at least 4 players on my dedicated Debian 9.6 Linux ArmA server v.1.88.

Also have you tried updating your graphics drivers? It might be related.
Have you tried launching the game with Dev branch selected? There was an issue that was similar to this, but it is a year and a half old, I'll give you the link to it, Here. Please let us know if the issue occurs in the dev branch.
Hmm, when you are hosting a server do you use default missions that come with the game or workshop missions?
