^this. @hicks16 I'm thinking its because the gun you picked up off the guy you killed, you ruined the gun in the process. But since there's no description on the gun, there's no way of telling.
I've fired my FNX45 and it seemed to work fine. It might be a problem with the gun not having a description, so the ones you find might be broken, and you just don't know it.
Have had this problem as well. At first I thought they might be automatically going into my ammo box, but then half the time I drop my ammo box it disappears so I've been avoiding checking.
Then again, maybe the ammo item showing up in the vicinity is just lagging? Who knows.
This is a known issue: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=1592
Please close this, and select "duplicate", we need to keep this feedback channel as uncluttered as we can to make it easier for the devs :).
Posted this as well: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=1144
Please close this, it is not a bug report, and the game is in alpha - like -pk- said, content is on its way. The point of the alpha is to test the bare bones of the game, to make sure what ever else gets added to the game, is based on a solid foundation.
Cheers for getting involved in the feedback forums :). Make sure you head over to http://feedback.dayzgame.com/plugin.php?page=Vote/list_bugs and find the ones that have affected you, and upvote them so the devs know what is important.
You can sometimes find a mosin in more residential areas. More guns will surely be added as the devs continue to build more equipment into the game.
Also, this is a suggestion, not a bug, you should close this.
I just found this is a duplicate bug report. Closing.
Duplicate report.
Downvoted. This is a trade-off feature they built into arma 2 & dayz mod etc to try and stop people from spending hours camping, while zoomed in. The heavy breathing is theoretically supposed to make it harder to breathe. Sorry dude.
I can still do damage, but it makes exactly the same noise as non-silenced, and attracts zombies.
It might be because they don't have a drying mechanism in place yet? Either way, good to know that you can do that haha.
I think this might be a problem with AMD cards. I was playing side by side with my flatmate who was having this problem, while I did not. He has AMD, I have NVidia.

Yea just discovered the #vote admin thing.
I just went looking, and it took me 2 minutes to find a massive list of all the possible scripting commands... That is bad.
This needs to be fixed ASAP - I don't even understand why the ability to vote for someone to be an admin should even exist...
I didn't survive the mass genocide, and I get it (but only sometimes).
The m4 & compass seem to work fine switching out most the time, but then pistol and fireaxe aren't so great.
Look guys, its a matter of "not being able to make your cake, and eat it to". It's almost a life lesson, you need to find the right balance of FOV and Scope Zoom that suits you.
If they made it so that regardless of how wide you wanted your FOV, the zoom on the scope would always be the same then everyone would just go for the widest possible FOV, which is unrealistic (think a horse, with the eyes on the side of the head).
I played a lot of ArmA 2, and DayZ Mod, so I guess I'm used to this trade off. But if there's this many people being unruly about its fairness, I'm thinking that the @DayZDevelopmentTeam should just set it fixed to somewhere just about halfway. This is the sort of decision that they should make, without us users trying to sway them either way, as it's a fency point.
At the end of the day, they are their most experienced (and lets be honest, most wise) users.
It's a trade off you have to receive for having a wider FOV, not a bug. Downvoted.
Found out I was not first to post this.
Just saw someone else post this: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=1475

I think I know the door you're talking about, and I had the same problem. I just figured it was an action glitching upstairs from down below (as it said "Close Door" instead of "Open Door), and if you look around in 3rd person while you're facing the door, you can see that the door leads to nowhere.
PS. You should try get an image of what the outside of the house looks like.
EDIT: What the guy above me said :).
Same goes when something is underneath a bed / shelf etc. I think they might have done this intentionally though, to make it more tricky to get some loot, than to just having tab open and moving around till it pops up in your vicinity.
I've found it more fun to have to get on my stomach to get below a bed to check loot.
I'm having this same problem with buggy / laggy / slow opening screen with Bohemia and DayZ logos. Do you recommend reinstalling by re-downloading? Or just backing up, restoring, verifying etc.
I only ask because my internet is piss poor in Wellington (10mb/s).
Sorry, just saw this. Added my 2cents for this bug @ http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=1538
Maybe the mask is being blamed for the fact that a zed infected the player at some point near where they acquired the mask? Is it just a coincidence?
I'm not convinced that you'd need to disinfect the mask before wearing it in order to not get sick, but I am happy to be proven wrong.
I've been running around with the red and white wolf mask from payday 2 for probably 10 hours+, regularly eating and drinking. Don't think I've had this problem?? Not saying it doesn't exist, just that it might not happen to everyone. Good luck!
Confirmed it no longer works. Used to work in the first couple days, but hasn't since then.
I miss reading notes from strangers.
This happened twice in an hour to me and my mate. Everyone needs to upvote the shit out of it so the devs see it.
There's reports of this turning you into godmode....
Had the same thing while running around with an m4.
unable to reproduce & out of date, so closing.
After 20 hours or so of further game time, I have not had this problem again. I will close this, as I think it is out of date.
PS. This game is amazing. You've out done yourself already, and I cannot wait for what's going to be added next. I have pro gear, and am exploring the Northern areas of the map. Just went through the train depot, and found a Press Vest. I smiled wide, realising that it could be used to lead trusting bambis astray. I shot two unsuspecting players who were rearranging their gear last night while near NWAF, and chased their unarmed mate, taunting him, from there to Devils Castle, where I managed to get a long range headshot with the Mosin + Scope.
PPS. You might be copping a lot of slack at the moment for the lack of guns, but I think people understand why you're doing it this way - need to keep newbies happy with the game by not overpowering the pros.
PPPS. I got shot out of nowhere last night, and the shock of the "YOU ARE DEAD" black screen almost made me cry.
PPPPS. If you read this far, I truly admire your dedication, sir. Have a beer, on (the proverbial) me.
Alternatively, there are another few combinations of actions that fuck with your running speed. For example one goes something like this:
- Get mosin + scope.
- Right click to look down scope
- Change weapon via hot key to melee weapon
- Try run around (may have to hit space bar / right click / both)
- All i can do is walk. I double tap W to sprint, but then when I release, it puts me back at walking speed. Tried double tapping shift etc, to no avail. Only way to fix it was to get Mosin back out, and right click a few times.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, this was a rare/uncommon problem with DayZ mod as well, I imagine it's something to do with the tricky logic behind progression of different actions.
I dont think the answer is to increase range of vicinity, but change where each piece of loot spawns so that it is accessable. If you increase the range, it would be massively exploitable.
Confirmed, might just be that they haven't got round to adding it in yet.
PRO TIP: Spend 15 minutes in a town a little away from coast (zeleno is a good example) drinking and eating.
Find a well. Spam drink until you get "My stomach feels full". Find all the food you can, and eat 4-5 on the spot until "I feel completely full" etc. Stock up on extra food / drink. Run north, periodically sprinting and jogging.
Your character will "condition" (or maybe just not require as much for a while), and you will be come less reliant on food / water.
SOURCE: I got sick from a zombie, ate and drunk everything I could find to try get back to health, as well as clean bandages / rags often and any vitamins / antibiotics / charcoal tablets I could find. I cured my sickness, then explored around. I ran from Zeleno, to NWAF, to Devils, to Guba, to NEAF, to Berezino, to Gorka, to Stary, where I was shot.
The run probably took me about 7 hours. During that time, I used 3 full water bottles, and probably 4-5 cans of beans. You be the judged.
Just accidentally duplicated this bug report.
Confirmed.
Just closed my report for this: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=1144
I had the same problem trying to get into Devil's Castle (up the stairs) the other day. Tried to read about it online, and couldn't find anyone else complaining about it. I tried vaulting over the raised platform in Zub, and managed to clip inside the floor. Tried the same thing to get up the stairs once inside, and clipped inside the stairs... Scared me, in DayZ mod I would have expected the CRACK of my legs breaking.
Same at devils castle. Might be the whole model for the tower at the castle has moved up the Y axis by accident (as the step to get into the tower is a bit too high as well).
