Character teleport to a previous spot

Whatever my current character is doing, usually running, is stopped without warning and the character teleports back to a previous position such as inside a building or the middle of a forest, erasing the distance traveled in that period. This results in no more keys being used with the character and camera being spun continuously. To 'fix' this a force close of the game must be used. {F28456} {F28457} {F28458}

This just happened to me. I'm trying to run some where but I keep getting teleported back to where I was previously.

Its happening like 3 times in a row, We cant really move away.

It has happened to me and to my teammate at the same moment. We were in different locations (Stary Sobor, Kozlovka).
This also happens while not running, but some time after a long run.

The remedy is to Alt+F4 and restart a game.

I am experiencing the same thing. It appears that if I am running from town to town without stopping / checking my gear I get teleported. Testing now to see if I slowly make my way stopping ever so often around 100 - 200 meters it will happen. As it stands now it looks like it is mostly happening if you are running for long periods of time. Will follow up.

Was in Chernogorsk looting some bodies, got headshot (apparently fell for the trap) and respawned (after dealing with the extremely long respawn time.

Ended up spawning near Three Valleys, next to those buildings and small pier/dock. Ran south along the coast, following the train tracks, and teleported twice as described around the same location, I believe somewhere near Krutoy Cap. Can't move or use any keys afterwards, can't move my camera; just stuck there, back near the dock again.

@kurtz I thought the same thing and tested it. It seems to be just stopping for 2 seconds alone will prevent the teleporting. So, just stop every 2-3 min let off W quickly and that should prevent it. We need some more confirmation of this still though. High five.

+1 happens to me and a friend 5 times on differnt server each time, happens frequent post patch 31.12.13

ALSO 2 instances of it happening to a friend pre patch.

@timmyboy04 That doesn't prevent it unfortunately.

Also doesn't matter whether your fists are raised or lowered, it still happens.

I had it happen 5 times in a row in a short period yesterday while trying to run north from Berezino to the ship wreck (but about 100m inland). Logged out in frustration.

Logged in again today and tried the same thing and it happened again. Logged out again in frustration.

On both occasions the servers were highly populated and hosted by Multiplay (MPGS) but I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it.

Still happening here if i forget to eat or drink when running for longer than a few mintues.

Guys, the only way (with heaps of testing) i have found around this is until they fix it is to eat or drink every few minutes.

Should be fixed in the upcoming patch.

Me and my friends are getting bad rubber banding from multiple servers. Both of our characters got deleted too.

I had this problem like 5 times in a row... SO ANNOYING!!! I noticed that it happens when u spawn and u sprint from beggining.

Not to me it has never, until I walked out of Cherno to Kamenka

Is it because the servers are under DDOS attack?

I find this happens more often if you are running super fast on flat terrain, so it seems the further you get inbetween these "warp" spikes the more likely you are to be warped.

This seems to have gotten much worse since the DDoS attacks a couple of days ago. More feedback here:

Bad thing is you also get fall damage if you get teleported down.

This issue was processed by our team and is being looked into.

priority should be higher, its game breaker.
i found a lot of duplicates on this bug and put a comment of being a duplicate/related to until now, but this is the original issue

can confirm still happening in latest patch

After spawning in nowhere I cant run to any towns. Has happened 5 times in a row.

doesnt happen so much since patch, but when it happens is just a small distance

Happens to me too. I logged out near the ship yesterday and when I logged back in today, I ran from the ship, down the coast to the first town I ran into. Near the port, I suddenly get teleported back to the ship where I logged in at and couldn't do anything but alt f4. I rejoin the server and try again, this time making it to the second town from the ship along the coast when I went to jump a fence and once more got teleported back to the ship where I logged in at.

"Removed scripted server teleporting check as now managed by engine" I belive this is to adress the teleport bug, or at least so i hope. Maybe i will actually get to play again =)

Really annoying, I just ran for 30 minutes the exact same distance... can't really go far

Started happening yesterday (1/18) and has continued to happen every time I log in to play since. Usually happens about after 5-10 minutes of sprinting.

Happened to me twice yesterday and once (so far) today. I was running every single time it occurred. I will try some the suggestions in the notes and will stop every few minutes to drink or eat something.

This happens all over the map with me. Also at one time, my two friends got teleported at the exact same time as me.

Seems to happen to me most frequently and so far only at the open fields south of Stary Sobor on both the South-East and South-West sides of the city.

Most of the folks I know playing the game have stopped playing since this "feature" was introduced. Please fix it now. The game is nearly unplayable with this going on.

Happened to me as well.

Somebody posted the line of code that had to be removed to fix it on reddit. Got [REMOVED] xD They don't want you to manually fix it so it seems. , here is the part of code that create the problem, someone on reddit found it.

This need`s more attention and higher priority imo. Lot`s of people are simply unable to play due to this bug. Love the game guys, but i cant even play atm.

still happening to me. several times on one server. seemed if I exited from a different door it would stop.(?)

I find that rubber banding primarily happens in Towns and Cities and/or when I am continuously sprinting,(also only on Regular servers) if I sprint out of a building sure enough every-time I will "teleport" back. Just a guess here but early on I would rubber band whenever someone joined the server, and now this rubber banding being mostly in towns(for me) suggests it's the Zombie re spawns that are the culprit.

If I'm not mistaken this is because of the fix to prevent "invisible players" so when desync is complete the server overrides the clients position, thus causing the rubber-banding. This probably happens in cities due to the larger amount of data transferred server-client client-server, making the connection bottleneck.
I've read that many containers and/or players increase bandwith at this current patch, but they're working on it guys.

unplayable right now. every server, every location, all the time. Doesn't matter if running, walking, crouching...rubberbanding all the time. Plus: i cant jump. When i try to jump, my char is either doing nothing, or he starts laying down, rolling around and acting like he's getting handcuffed.
Also: sudden death by Zeds, because they see your Char in a different location, being able to hit you over a distance of aprox. 50m.

same problem... rly annoying and scares the crap out of me

Just started getting this teleporting issue. No control lockup, but my position is being reset by 10 metres or so every couple of minutes.

it happens really often to me, but i have on my location a bad connectivity, and it ormally happens 2 times, then i just go another road/way and its gone

no relog or something needed - but i also have often problems after loggin in, that i cant use anything, but this must be bad connectivity, and i hope the devs working on the "messaging system" like told before

That's realy annoying game braker. Only happens to me, when exiting any type of building. Never in open space or in structure. Exiting for example from tent teleports me to another I have already been. Or when exiting building teleports me somewhere in to it. Hate this, but it's only annoying. Nothing else. Would be happy if it will be fixed.

@Sabura ..youre right!! now when you wrote it, i also only see this "teleporting" when leaving buildings! happened in elektro but mostly in berezino!

Character teleportation seemed to have gotten much worse in the 45 experimental release.

I barely experience this issue in 44 Stable.

confirmed much worse, i think its because of loot respawn mechanism test or sth.

This happens tremendously more in the latest patch. Things I have observed:

  • Vaulting while exiting a building will often prevent this.
  • Sometimes I will open food not in my inventory (on the ground), and it will be teleported to the location where the user gets teleported back to.
  • Sometimes I will drop something from my inventory and it will be teleported to the location where the user gets teleported back to.
  • Sometimes I will be hit by a zombie that I cannot see. Turns out, the zombie is close to the location where I teleport back to and somehow "sees" my body at that previous location.
  • This teleport location often is on the edges or frames of buildings - not necessarily just entrances, but walls that make up the building. As such, I've been teleported onto balconies before with no hope of escape.

This happens about 90% of the time I exit a building, and often only after 4-5 attempts (sometimes much, much more) I will be able to escape. It does not seem to depend on a timer, but rather perhaps the path that the player uses to exit the building.

I observed similar things as silencerx. I mentioned in a previous report that the server is most likely trying to smooth player movement over distance, but instead detects that your player is colliding with something. This not only happens in buildings, but also occurs with fences an sometimes even indoors.

Two ways to work around this issue (not 100% reliable):

  • Move until you think your player is about to be teleported back, use an item in your inventory (this causes the server to play a different animation and most likely update your location)
  • If stuck in a doorway, face out the doorway and move ~15m out; the server would have already updated the location of your player and detected no collision when smoothing movement (more reliable than previous method, but kinda sucks if you are stuck on a higher floor).

This issue became massive in the latest patch 0.45, way bigger than the 0.44 was.

If you try to pass trough a tight space RUNNING,almost always you will teleport back before that obstacle. tight spaces involve everything from a building door/steps to a hole in a wall/fence.

Still happening in 0.45 stable.

seems fixed at 0.46, was not teleported yet.
