Using "optics" (secondary mouse button) with melee weapons prevents jogging
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Pressing secondary mouse button when wielding a melee weapon or any other item that does not have ironsights/optics acts as though the player is aiming through the optics and prevents jogging, this is highly unintuitive as there is no visual confirmation of this state.

Sprinting in this condition works normally.

temporary FIX:

  • Unbind the key to sprint/jog.
  • Bind it to something else.
  • Unbind it again
  • Bind to default key again.

Voilla! You can now sprint again. So basicly rebind it and put it back to default binding after.

Alternatively, there are another few combinations of actions that fuck with your running speed. For example one goes something like this:

  1. Get mosin + scope.
  2. Right click to look down scope
  3. Change weapon via hot key to melee weapon
  4. Try run around (may have to hit space bar / right click / both)
  5. All i can do is walk. I double tap W to sprint, but then when I release, it puts me back at walking speed. Tried double tapping shift etc, to no avail. Only way to fix it was to get Mosin back out, and right click a few times.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, this was a rare/uncommon problem with DayZ mod as well, I imagine it's something to do with the tricky logic behind progression of different actions.

It seems like the game assumes you're always holding an item that can be aimed down the sight, causing you to go into walk mode when you press the optics button(rmb). This doesn't visually change anything, so when this accidentally happens to a player it feels like he is stuck in walk mode.

The same happens when you aim down the sight of a weapon and switch to a different item, it will keep you in "optics mode" making you only able to walk.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback, however this has already been reported.
