Correction..:

It IS POSSIBLE to scan if the rover are put in reverse and driv into the rock.
It take alot of adjustment and luck to make it work.

But

The problems is that the trigger is very small.

Fix.
I think the trigger need to be made a bigger so it is more easy to scan rocks.

I had simulare problems.. I familed a mission since my rover got stuck in the landing vehicle ( I did not notise it was driving so it climbed the lander LOL ).
And after that I had no money or possibility to earn money to make a new mission.
Game over and had to start a new game.

I had a simulare problems with my logitech g940 joystick/trottle/pedals.

But I could solve it by deleting the original key configuration ingame and config the game not to use joystick for anything.

I did however notise that the "D" key are used for both turning right, but also for something els ( standard key configuration ).

How to reproduce..:
open the options/settings/key config
Delete the "d" key.
Now add the "d" key again and you will get a warning that the "D" key is already mapped to something els.

confirmed, especially the bridge in Agaia Maria that are close to the "beach"
have serious problems.. I often see Ai who run arround in circles on top of the bridge or go from a-b on the bridge not knowing what to do.

  • They do however know how to open fire and shoot back ;-)

Nice idea, but real life soldiers do not just drop their magzine every where. so personal i belive it will not need to be in the game.
Its a hollywood/battlefield fps shooter idea.
Soldiers only do this in very special situations.

It is very unrealistic, since you never know when you need your gear again.
Also a magazine is not just a drop and forget thing. In many armys it is considered as a kind of weapon part that the soldier especially in peace time will be held responsible for if he/she loose it. Also it might be nice to be able to fill it again when you have a short break from battle, you might not want to go and look for something but rather stay near your friends. ;-)

Im aware that some armys see a magazine as a use and throw away thing, and it is quite commond in some armys to throw magazines in the trash on the shooting range, while in other armys you need to give it back to the responsible weapons officer in the base that will dispose of it correctly ect.

And now that im talking about hollywood/fps games, it is not always a good idea to pickup magaines you find on the ground or on the enemy. They can in rare cases be boobytrapped with a mine/grenade, OR example a ak47 looking magazine actual are masse produced with explosives inside and are put on the battlefield on purpose.. The reason is that once someone pick it up and fire 1 shot or harvest the bullets, then the bomb inside the magazine will detonate and kill that person. These magazines can examble be found in the balkans/kosovo/bosnia, and they are rather difficult to see if it is a real or fake magazine... The same goes with hand grenades, you only need to adjust the metal trigger a bit on some hand grenades, and then the grenade will explode in 0.1 secound instead of example 5sec...
But all of that is a very long story.
what can i say humans have a very special talent for killing. Many soldiers are eager to see som action, but once they do many wish they never experienced it.

I did not experience any problems at all.

I tried to turn off the engine and landed 100% fine.
I also tried to loose the engine due to enemy fire, and also landed 100% fine ).

Said with other words.
Im able to autorotate 100% of the time and make a safe landing 100% of the time as long as i'm above example 50height and 60 speed. Just pitch down 10-20 degrees and once near ground pull back and level off, and then land.

I/we have the same problem.. We tried on 1 "dedicated" clan server and it froze and crashed 2 times.. and we tried hosting our self on 4 different private game servers and they also crash..

I could not find any log file I could attach to this report.

This problem where not there before the last Update on 25-03-2013.

I and the other people in my clan belive it is an error related to the update, and since everyone have the problem despite hardware settings or hardware configuration.

2). use notepad to edit it.
3). in the top of notepad choose "replace"
4). In the new window type ( case sensitive )

"A3_soft_f_galkin"
in the lower box type
 "A3_Soft_F_Hunter"

5). Press "replace everything"

  1. save and exit notepad.

7). open the arma 3 editor. You will now see an error but just click okay.

    now you should be able to view your 2d mission and edit everything.
    you might need to delete and replace your previous cars/vehicles ect. just
    to be safe...

I like to say, after the latest Hotfix on 26-03-2013 then the above error have been fixed.. We have been playing many houres in our clan and the server did not crash when playing ( NEW missions made after 26-03-2013 )

I/we have played various missions today after the new patch 25-03-2013.
Before multiplayer was rock solid.. TOday after 15 or 30min of play the server stop responding.. We did even try with one of the std. mp missions and that did also make the server crash.

I tried both with a computer acting as a dedicated server, and player servers.
All crash.

I would say multiplayer is 100% broken... It only work for 15-30 minutes.

Once a ship/boat get stuck I belive the Engine and rudder are turned off, and that is the primary reason for players not being able to use the ship/boat anymore.

How to reproduce.
Try to sail along the coast and come to a stop about 1-2m from the shore.
Try very gently to make the boat get stuck. ( sail closer ).
You will notise you cannot free your self or hear the engine power up or down.
Now find a car and very gently push the boat just a tiny bit.. Once it is unstuck you will hear the engine and now you are able to use the boat again ;-)

I did experience some problems, but after I sync the next heli waypoint with a trigger that the unloaded troops activate then I solved the problem after tweaking the waypoints for a while..

Also I never ask the helicopter to land on a waypoint that are example 0 or 1 in size.. it need to be a little bigger so that the landing are more smooth and faster.

But I do agree an adjustment are needed since it do not work like in OA

ALSO if you play a multiplayer game and you are the leaser of your squad.
Then you can actual by giving a command to your human players get them to disembark any vehicle even if they do not want to do so.. In arma1-2 OA you could not do this to players.

I do not agree with must of the comments above that want thermal/IR to enhance people or machines as one giant white "hot" thing, or making the background darker but people/vehicles become much more visible ( the photos ).

In real life engines, and tires of a vehicle are not even that visible with real life thermal/ir and especially not once trees and bushes are in the way.
Also people are MUCH harder to spot. The most "easy" part to spot are
hands/head/feet it look like in this video...

  • It would be game "breaking" if the thermal/ir would show you everything far away, it do not even work that way i real life. This is arma 3, not call of duty style.

I like to suggest people to watch this old arma 2 OA video. That way a vehicle is shown in thermal/ir are much more realistic.... but i think they should have been a bit darker anyway to make gameplay harder, especially in multiplayer it would be really nice if people where able to not being spotted from 5km away becourse they are so easy to spot.
But the way that soliders are shown are terrible.. Only hands/head/feet are normal that visible. Watch from 2:45.

And yes I do belive Arma 2 oa thermal/ir is much more realistic when it come to vehicles, but the soldiers are very unrealistic( the video above ).
I personal spend 3x6 month on peace keeping missions i know pretty well how thermal/ir and night vision look like, it is not a magic "weapon".. And it is not like arma 3 or any of the above photos/tweaks that people suggest. Non of the systems are that good in real life.

I can also confirm... Look at uploaded photo.

Place one soldier inside building and another outside.
Try to shoot the other solider..
You cannot do this since the glass in the window stop the bullet.

Buildings that have this bug/issue are civilian houses. ( look photo ).

In general all the mines need to be configured, they explode to early.
For example the old big Tank mine explode before the vehicle touch it, or several sec after.

Bouncing mine "jump" to early, it need to jump after the soldier step on it.
For example when the soldiers foot do no longer put presure on the mine, it need to jump.

Suggestion..: correction of time before "activating mine" by ½ - 1 secound.

  • In real life once such a mine jump a thin wire that is attached to the burried mine and the jumping part will make the jumping part detonate once the whire get stretched to example 1½ meter...

It remind me about a person who where mine clearning.. He stepped on one of these and it jumped right up into his balls... But it did not explode since it could not jump high enough so the wire could detonate the jumping wire.... autch..

The sdar 5.56 underwater gun ( diver ) need to be able to fire more than 30-40m above water.

I think the underwater gun need to be able to have a range of max 200m above water, for it to be of much use in the game.

I agree, you can often shoot a man in the leg and he die from one or two shot.
The "Health system" / wound system should be enhanced so people do not die from such damages.. It is however okay to die from a wound if it is untreated for several minutes.

If you get "stuck" inbetween the containers and press Z or V then you will
end inside the container on the left...
Only way to exit container is prezzing Z or V and then sometimes you can slowly get aut again by pressing WASD keys continous.. in one direction near the container wall.

Cpu Max 20%
GPU Max 30%

ingame fps result..:

Helicopter mission ( first 30 sec, just standing still not moving ) 17-18fps
Editor standing on runway = 60+ fps
Average gaming singleplayer = 30fps + - ( depend very much on location )
Night multiplayer mission with bright light and NV = below 17.

Actual the game run fine most of the time, so im really eager to see arma 3 in the future, it gona run really well i belive. ;-)

Open Editor.

put 1 Blue player on the runway in the airport.
put 1 red player on the runway 10m i front of the blue player.

now run to the red player and shoot in the ground near him, and when he start running or turning then follow him..

At some point the red soldier stop and try to turn around so he can shoot you..

  • If you run/walk 1-2m from him then you can actual run around him in circles without him being able to turn and shoot you.

+ AI soldiers need to have indreased their TURN Speed a little.
