Maybe I didn't phrase this properly, YOU ARE A MORON. You already have an external view that can look at any angle. So it's already unrealistic. Furthermore, fuck you asshole, and all the other little prick assholes who downvote this every time I post it. It's a tiny basic feature that I would like and it would have ZERO IMPACT on the gameplay, but you people can't help but act like snooty dick heads because you're a bunch of nose pickers with nothing better to do.

It doesn't make me feel bad, but I don't like it. I hate blurring in games so I always turn off DOF, Bloom, motion blur, radial, etc.. It looks great like that. But then I sprint and it forces blur, boo!

Yes I know all about stances, and I know about this feature to shoot from the gun and not your eyes. I like both, but I just think it needs a bit more work.

Try it yourself. A good location to test it is in the North East quarter of the map, about 400 metres inland from the shore is a fortification. I play a mission which has this full of enemies, and the only good place to attack from is up on a nearby cliff. But the top of the cliff is covered in rocks so you have to get on the rocks.

Almost anywhere you stand, and any stance you go in, the crosshair ends up down by your knees or whatever (indicating that the bullet will hit the rock). But you just can't get it to go over the rock unless you are standing almost right on the edge. And like I said, you can't even go prone either. You have to stand right on the edge AND go in to crouch or upright stance to get the bullet to clear the rocks. So it basically makes it impossible to play like a real sniper.

My issue is not just that the moderators are rude, but also that the majority of users on the forum are very rude and offensive too. The first reply to this thread is a good example of that.

It's sad because often the behaviour of people on a forum is shaped by the behaviour of the moderators. You only need to look at competitors forums to see how it works. Look a Stardock or something, the moderation is silent, and devs post and are friendly and inclusive, and the mood of the entire forum is constructive and friendly. But trolling breeds more trolling, and when the moderators themselves are rude and snooty and seem to revel in their power trips, it's no wonder that the whole place becomes so hostile.

Oinky, did you even read my post? We are talking about 3rd person views here, that in itself is not realistic unless you are having an out of body experience. You can already look behind you in 3rd person, but like I said, only about 150 degrees. Again, this is already NOT realistic, so nothing wrong with adding the extra 40 degrees.

And it's also a mute point anyway seeing as you can just press DEL and view any angle you want. So stop being an elitist and change your vote.

I don't think they should take the realism too far, after all it's part game as well as part simulation. For example I certainly wouldn't want to play this game as a sniper if all I did most of the time was creep around in the bushes like a stalker, while everyone else gets to go in guns blazing.

That said, I'm sure there are some things they could tidy up and I hope they take your kind offer of sharing real world experience on this stuff.

It's not that soldiers can't jump, it's that they wouldn't jump in real life. Yes there might be a few rare occasions when it has happened, but it's just not done in real life. You can't underestimate how heavy the gear is. Jumping with that much gear is more likely to cause a sprained ankle or something than it would be to actually achieve anything useful.

They don't jump across rooftops, it's not hollywood.

If you want to jump over stuff, play an action game. If you want to be like a soldier, play Arma3 and stop trying to change it in to something dumb.

There is no good reason for having a jump in this game. I can already get over small obstacles by just walking around them or pressing V to step over them. And there are no locations that I have to jump across something to reach.

Give me ONE good reason why there should be a jump, and I'll change my vote to a +1 instead of a -1.

Yeah Arma already freaks out with different LOD's. Sometimes it does ok, sometimes they are twitching on and off all around me as I'm running around. I also notice that if you lower the detail level (object detail I think), it makes all the trees in to little semi 2d X shaped things and they constantly twitch back and forth between LOD's. It's pretty ugly. So I have to run it at ultra settings which luckily, my computer can just about cope with.

Anyway, something like this would be really nice, as long as it worked well. And the fact that she (or he) bothered to actually write some code for it is an easy +1.

I prefer the Arma3 way. It's a good sprint but a good fit soldier could do similar. But you also go out of breath and the sprint slows down, so I think it's pretty realistic. And less tedious than arma2.

The game is extremely accurate. You cannot shoot while running. You can shoot while jogging or walking fast, but the game already lets you do that. The people who make this game obviously know how this works.

You couldn't usually walk on rocks at all in Arma2, so at least it is better now. But it still needs work. I often get stuck on them and can't walk over them etc.

This is the worst part of this engine in my opinion. When I am running up a hill, all I can see are bushes popping up all around me. First they appear out of nowhere, then they change their LOD at about 15 feet away, then again at about 13 feet away, then again at about 10feet away... It's insane.

They need to come in to full detail about about 30 feet away and then not change at all as you get closer. It's really bad. I hated it in Arma2, and I hoped it would be better in Arma3 but it really isn't.

I hate the chopper controls now. I liked how they worked in Arma2, heavy choppers were slugs, good choppers were nimble, but no chopper could wiz around upside down and loop de loop etc. In this game at the moment it is like an arcade game and it needs to be a bit more realistic.

I don't need to change the controls... I'm the one who is happy with how things are now. It's you who wants a new on screen indicator to help you make up for your shortcomings.

It's not a case of don't like it don't use it, because everything requires development time and if they start adding stupid indicators to cater to people who can't get to grips with the already simple controls, then its time not spent on something more important.

You noobs to arma should not be making suggestions on this site.

First off, this wouldn't even be needed in the first place if they didn't dumb the controls down to just 2 stance buttons. If they left it as 3 like in Arma2, then you could just press one key to instantly put you back to standing. So no indicator necessary.

Secondly, even without that you don't need an indicator. You can press the key to get you upright and just pressing CTRL W will check that you are all the way up.

Indicators are for dumb games, take responsibility for your own actions and ability and stop relying on games to make things easy for you.
