Some of the trees don't look realistic enough

Description

Those trees look nothing like real life trees, I think it should be fixed. I attached a screenshot. {F17240}

They look fine IMO

Yeah, what r u talking about?

IMO they don't look realistic enough. Try to see when you start the alpha in the forest look at the trees around you.

To be fair, that exact tree was my first negative experience of the game. Started up the Infantry Showcase and everything looked awesome except for those solid leaf clumps. They also don't look crash hot from a distance.

Not sure if easy to improve, but as a new ArmA player I think it should be noted that that tree model looks a little off to new players.

Not having that kind of issue at all (all maxed out may be the reason ?)

kid18120 no it is the same even with ultra settings.

They don't blend in with the LODs from other distances. I was thinking of putting up a feedback issue about this. They need to be darker and more subdued with more hints of shadow in them. Right now they look too blotchy and uniform in colour.

I think the problem is that the lower LODs of the tree seem to have 'outlines' in a lighter shade of green than the rest of them. The effect of this is that they stand out against each other/the ground at medium/medium-long range. At longer ranges this effect ceases to be apparent, presumably due to the outline becoming too thin to actually appear on screen. The 'clumps' on the close-medium range LODs don't look too great either - perhaps this could be solved by keeping the trees at a higher LOD until they get further away (on higher graphical settings).

From that Screenshot, the close in Trees look great, but the ones on the ridge opposite don't look right. I cannot quite tell why, but I think it might be to do with the highlighting, they should have more shade and shadow as a contrast.

Here is a picture of Greek hillside with some trees for comparison.

I have to agree, those trees disturb me pretty lot somehow and look a little bit "cheap". Doesn't kill my experience if they won't be changed, but I'd love to see enhanced model.

I don't think they'll change this... upvoted...

Yes, the pines look like wads at the moment. It would be nice to see them a bit refurbished in further developement.

I think those near ones look great, but the ones in the distance look cut and pasted / stencilled.

This. The lighter outlines of the trees make them look unrealistic because the outlines seem to glow. Getting rid of the glow of outlines would probably help a lot with the immersion.

The distant trees could be a little bit darker too in my opinion.

Tree LODs, especially distant ones, were greatly improved some time ago. Closing as fixed.
