It would be nice if the grenade throwing could be a bit more advanced. I would like to know more or less where I am aiming with the grenades, and it would be nice to be able to control how hard you throw.

I can't remember which, but there was a game I once played years ago where you hold a key to throw the grenade, and an arc appears to throw you where it will go. The longer you hold the key, the higher and further the arc is. So a short tap and you can chuck a grenade almost right in front of you. Hold it for about 5 seconds and you can throw it very far in to the distance. Or time it properly and you can throw it a good distance at your enemy.
