It is reliably (100%) reproducible here. Unable to complete a MP game yet.
This seems to be AI in Conflict?
Yeap they are
This time I tried to play with VPN. Enabled the VPN, downloaded the mods, tried to connect to modded server (few of them, even official one just with capture & hold mod), it tries to connect (I see reforger downloading background ("map")) and then crashes. Happens with ANY server with ANY mod and with enabled VPN. As I said in first message, without VPN, I can't even see the workshop items nor download them. I also tried to reinstall battleye, it didn't helped.
Here are the logs from this type of crashes:
Same result. Auto-canceling download.
Set Severity to Feature and Category to something more specific.
I think that not only distance but also obstacles affect strength of the signal, like buildings and terrain variations. I guess its is not a bug, its a feature. :)

Seconding this.
I believe that current system fits DayZ (which is close encounters-focused due to it's "Friendly?" nature and need of social interactions between players), but it needs fine tuning to fit Arma.
Reforger's implementation has several problems:
- It promotes close firefights no further than 100 meters (tbh, I never had even a midrange firefight at this moment), and this is wrong on so many levels as Arma was always about combined arms and actions on a squad/platoon level.
- Since soldiers become just a few pixels beyond 200 meters, players can't see the result of their shootings, even that Arma 3 jittery hit animation was much better. It's a game, almost no one enjoys bullet-raining trees and bushes for an hour as it happens in real life. This detrimens gunplay a lot.
- This basically makes any kind of rifle optics is necessary to hit something beyond 200 meters, so all public servers will be just PSO-1/ACOG fest. Humans are able to recognize and hit standing target with naked eye up to 400 meters as it stated, for example, in AK-74's shooting instruction books.
I had a similar issue: connecting to a server with mods that I did not have, or did not have in the same version caused download to stop. A workaround was to go to in game mod manager, clock the mod, and click update when viewing a mods details. Did that with all mods and then I could connect to the same server.
I found a lot of the UI keybinds in the default .conf for controls. Such as:
Additional info:
Played on 2 servers, encountered the error and was booted on the 2nd server.
Error occurred on [OFFICIAL] Conflict Full - 11027725
Server had 32 or close to 32 players at the time of the error.
Played on an official server, here's my error log:
Log C:\Users\denve\OneDrive\Documents\My Games\ArmaReforger\profile\error.log started at 2022-05-25 19:02:52 (2022-05-26 00:02:52 UTC)

Another way to reproduce this issue is to:
- enter Game Master mode
- take control of a unit that has binoculars
- press [B] to equip binoculars
- press ESC and go back to Game Master mode
- take control of another unit
- press [RMB] to aim down the sights and it will show binocular 'view mask'
Some have still experienced the connection problem on that server. Maybe the logs there can point to something.
That is through the in-game workshop browser. I actually just logged in to get a screenshot as an example and now I am experiencing a new behavior. Now when I start a download, it'll be in the download list for 10 seconds before automatically canceling the download.
Played on [OFFICIAL] Conflict Full - 11027692 for a couple of hours without experiencing this bug.
I did have a CTD though, but I reckon that is a different problem.
Thanks for adding the description of the "Create New" step in Reforger Tools (I had a quick go before I set about fixing my joystick woes and forgot I'd created a new project for all that to appear).
