I experience the very same issue, always a couple minutes into the game.
What's more: I couldn't even see them anywhere - I just walked along the apparently empty supermarket boards Tab open and collected grey icons to see what I had found when they turned up to be veggies in the backpack.
It's happening everywhere.
Persistence isn't there.
Please fix this asap!
This is not a regular wipe problem.
Several servers experienced problems with the persistence.

I did upvote this for the cooked-to-burnt part.
I don't mind the meat cooking for quite some time. But the time frame to take it off the fire before it gets burnt is ridiculous indeed.

@ roadrage: true maybe for Mosin types, although it can be argued that lots of spike bayonets still have at least one sharpened edge.
SKS bayonets tho are mostly bladed designs.
And an M4-"bayonet" is basically a mounted mutli-purpose combat knife.

We had a similar problem:
built a fire and put a lot of firewood on it. I think 4 or 5 items of Firewood.
After that, whenever any of us went close (approx 30 metres) to the fireplace their game would crash 100%.
After one try I got an error message: "Rendering command buffer too small"
But none of the other guys did.
Has just happened to me.
Pretty annoying.
From my experience, it happens when you consume food or drinks without putting them in you inventory first although there's free slots.
Example: wearing only a shirt and pants, carrying a torch, a battery and a stack of rags, you find a can of soda. Although you got one free inventory slot you don't take the soda but instead you drink it right away.
After this, you'll find the actually free slot blocked and unable to pick up any fourth item.
Dropping and re-equipping the pants fixes it. The slot can then be used again.
Doesn't sound like a bug, frankly. If you put whatever loot on the ground and then get a reset, the stuff will be gone.
Unless the character being "damp" does play a role in this, the rate of matches blown out by wind is ridiculous.
I, too, tried lighting a fire indoors, in a little shed on ground level.
Wasted around 15 matches until the box was empty.
I just wanted to file this report.
I suspect it's an intended feature, like sharp tools wearing down with the use on cans.
But like you suggest: the degradation rate is way off.
An axe - a tool INTENDED for cutting down trees - that is used with some basic knowledge of the matter can last years without re-sharpening or anything.
Same goes for pickaxes and groundwork - only they're even sturdier! ;)
Especially that part of ruining pants by falling is something I can't wrap my mind around: How and why (Except for the case of an open fracture wound maybe) would any clothing get ruined from falling?
Yep, had this happen to machetes four or five times now...
I want to confirm this.
Had two different but very similar situations: Got attacked by a freshspawn who tried to hit me with bare fists.
I defended myself with melee weapons - a machete in one case, a hammer in the other - and definitely hit the character in the head a couple times: I saw multiple sources of bleeding on the head.
Nevertheless, in both cases I got knocked out by the opponent's fists...
Luckily, in one case, I woke up from my unconciousness to find the opponent bled to death next to me. Fat chance.
Seems to have actually been fixed in the current experimental.
Happened to me in the Shipwreck and on the big building in Svetlojarsk as well!
Same here. Definitely the first to loot the place, but all the "known" loot locations from before the Update were empty.
Overall very little loot at all.
Lost my entire (and real nice) gear as well.
I encounter the same, character laggs back to a location I passed some time ago and freezes, sounds and everything keep going.
Can only be left by alt f4.
Well, there's a Police station in Polana I know of.
Another issue that is probably the same category since the torch appears to follow the head angle:
When trying to aim a gun at anything, the beam will again go somewhere else than meant to. In this cas: Your weapon and hands! Can't properly aim like this.

I logged in after a server restart to find my character where I left him but couldn't interact with anything (door, water well) so I thought "laggy" when suddenly my screen went black and I got "you are dead" for no apparent reason.
Note: It said: "My leg is in pain" the instant I died.
I currently have the same thing going on. I fed my Char 2 Painkillers, he's still moaning.

The same can be found in the doorframe of a wood cabin in the middle of Gorka in the current experimental version. A blue mailbox floating in mid-air when you open the door.
Not only pistols, this is the case for all weapons.
Still a good point tho: Durable items like metal parts (can openers and cans, ammo, my axe and whatever) shouldn't possibly degrade to ruined by a zombie-bare-hands-attack.
So tho it is an issue, I find it forgiveable.
