1-Sharpened stick (already ingame).
2-Attach sharpened stick to meat or fish.
3-A quick and easy way to cook without cooking pot and tripod or furnace.
4-Only downside is it cooks one meat per stick where the cooking pot cooks all at once.
5-Possible animation with stick in hand sitting next to fire, or just leave the stick on fire.

I would go further with this.
I would make it necessary to cut a steak into 4 (stackable up to 4) meat strips that you have to manually hold over the fireplace with a sharp stick to cook if you want to be sure it doesn't fall into the fire.
Whatever the case, this artificial necessity to carry a pot and cooking tripod is an immersion breaker.
It's in 0.56 however you can't use any stick it has to be Ash for some reason. Please modify to allow use of sticks from any tree.
