I would like this module, but I agree with stonestriker. There could be a module for filling bases, one for air traffic, one for car traffic, one for civilians walking, etc. It would be amazing to have this kind of stuff, you could make a completely dynamic mission without having to have a ton of modules placed around your map. However, the AI would have to cooperate with the rest of the mission. Take air traffic control for example. A plane couldn't just land if you placed one for your mission on the runway that was going to take off..

yeah maybe if we could configure it with sliders or something to control how the mass of the dynamic life on the island? even if it was a more advanced ambient civilians etc.
While the intent of this suggestion is ok, I would prefer to see it split into several separate modules. This seems to general in nature to be of much use.
I think it meens they have seen it and thinking on assigning it. or make it. maybe make an idea close to it.
Tho i run a good enough computer to say that if there was a module filling all the bases, the skies and towns it would really make FPS drop like hell :/.
civilian traffic is another thing that i really want in arma for a long time.

does looked into mean a possibility of being implemented?

shouldn't request more than 1 thing on each ticket my friend.
please produce multiple tickets with some more information...
please also note ALPHA stage your lucky that there even is a ALPHA stage hardly any companies allow this.
give them a break :(

thank you Kryssar! glad to be apart of the team
This is a good idea and it also have gameplay implications
This is not so easy, would require some considerable engine support and I'm afraid we can't make it in the scope of the project.

You can keep pressing V to traverse the object.
Still in 1.50
when stucked, collisions get damage to you or you can be killed instantly :(
very OLD bug and annoying so much, because you cant climb on some stones, objects etc!
Fix it please
Since dragging is not implemented in vanilla alpha version we presume that you experienced this in some custom made mod. Please ask the current mod designer with this issue.
Thank you.

Can stop run if take in hand other weapon. weapon change animation stop this bug.
Dupe of #1970.
Agreed. If you point your nose up only SLIGHTLY, you go up by 50 meters.
Get a littlebird, fly at as low altitude as possible at a high speed and just hold S. You can do backflips without even risking a crash.
don`t forget speed = altitude / altitude = speed.
but i know about you tell.... its need to tweak. lowest collective like 2-3 degrees. not 0-1.....
Yeah the collective is incredibly unresponsive.
You should be able to slow down a fast moving helicopter without gaining altitude by gradually lowering the collective, however it is delayed so you quickly gain a lot of altitude exposing yourself. Right now, if you want to slow down, you have to do it way before the LZ, but then you are too slow upon arrival and an easy target for nearby units.
"@Grezvany13: Not "the paper map itself", but it would simulate having a GPS with a moving map, which would be used instead of paper one, when having a GPS."
If you mean the GPS map (RCTRL + M) and not the normal map (M), then I'm fine with the suggestion.
Although in that case I suggest to make the GPS map zoomable:
- 100x100 mtr : 10-digit grid
- 1000x1000 mrt : 8-digit grid
- 10000x10000 mtr : 6-digit grid
In all cases you, the player, are at the center op the map. No direction is given (like compass) and no other interactions are available (like placing markers).
Your grid location should be placed underneath the map.
And ofcourse the GPS still has a small UI compared to the full-screen map.
The best thing would be to have an additional item, along with the paper map and GPS in the glasses: a military GPS receiver, with a moving map and all kinds of interactions available there.
Check out RPDA - Ruggedized Personal Digital Assistant. Having this would be nice! Our current HUD GPS would be tied to tactical glasses (having glasses means having GPS on the HUD) and GPS slot would be used by RPDA item instead.
But I'm realistic and I understand, that the developers have much work with more serious issues. Because of that I've asked for something relatively easy and quick, which will make the GPS more useful, instead of more complex request/idea.
http://www.wikihow.com/Use-an-Analog-Watch-as-a-Compass
I just use the watch in an opposite way (I align the hour hand with its own shadow), so that the half of the angle between the hour hand and 12 o'clock points at the north. It's easier for me to do it that way. Never owned a digital watch ;)
But the HUD map is small and not scrollable, while the "M" map is.
"My real GPS has moving map and is accurate to 2m. It allows for marking things seen on the map and reading accurate coordinates of them"
I don't question it does, the fact is in the game when you press 'M' or whatever key you have for the map, it's like bringing up your paper map.
Infact the GPS ingame also has a moving map (in trasparency, since it's a HUD-like GPS) and allows you to see landmarks etc.
Btw i'd be interested in the sun+watch method you were talking about. Does that technique have a proper name i can search for ? :D
@Grezvany13: Not "the paper map itself", but it would simulate having a GPS with a moving map, which would be used instead of paper one, when having a GPS.
@Kid18120: I'm trained in cartography and navigation and sometimes I put a ruler or protractor against the screen. I have no problem with your method and I can navigate accurately without a GPS. I don't even need a compass, a sun and watch is all I need (it works also in Arma btw :)). But I just want something more modern and fitting year 2035.
My real GPS has moving map and is accurate to 2m. It allows for marking things seen on the map and reading accurate coordinates of them, along with distance and bearing from me. And it's a rather basic model of a GPS receiver.
12 digits is perfect for artillery and bombing (when you manually input coordinates in arty computer, likes in M109A1 Paladin, MLRS, etc...), current actions in 2035 so 12 digit a lot better!
While i can agree with having a 10 digit GPS, i still want the 6 digit map !
One of the difficulties on which you have to train IRL, is to "split" the map grids from 6 digits into 8 digits / 10 digits, example:
GPS
05515 06125
MAP
STEP 1 055 061 (identify the general grid you're at)
STEP 2 0551 (identify you're in the lower left side of the "square" of step 1
STEP 3 05515 (identify you're in the middle of the "square" of step 2
STEP 4 0612 (identify you're in the lower center of the "square" of step 1
STEP 5 06125 (identify you're in the middle of the "square" of step 4)
That's how it's done in real life and that's how it should be in the game, even with a 10 digit GPS
EDIT: Ofcourse this is based on UTM coord type
I don't see how your map (a piece of paper) could have more gridlines when you pickup a GPS.
I do agree that the GPS should be able to give a 8- or even 10-digit position, but should be configurable by the mission maker.
And when you're looking at your map you can also check your GPS for an accurate position, it just requires some comon sense to figure out when your position is at the map.
This is a more general issue with sounds, not just limited to boats. It has already been reported here: #584.
The devs know about it. Creating more tickets won't get the problem solved any faster.

should be already fixed

Individual reports of hacking have no place here. Until AC is implemented, nothing can be done about it.
Still happens in 1.52 - mostly on HC servers (thirdperson disabled).
Entered a helo as pilot, used ALT to look around (vehicle freelook in options is disabled) and got stuck in freelook mode. Neiher double-ALT, changing seats, getting a new helo nor * will fix the problem.
It's really annoying on KotH HC mode.
Go to > game options > general tab > disable vehicle freelook.
You can still use alt to freelook in a vehicle and double tap alt to toggle freelook on until you double tap alt again.
Surely that's the problem sorted.
Yes, it's still present in 1.04, please up vote
There's no solution to this. This is still present in the final release. If this was by design, how do you effectively pilot a helicopter with keyboard only??
It's in the options in game, there is no need to dig into config files.
It's in the options in game
Where?
Hi. I have the same problem.
Once I've switched to 'Freelook' I'm unable to switch back.
Now all helis and vehicles steering is controlled only from keyboard which makes helis extremely hard to control.
Left Alt x2 and Num * doesn't help.
