is related to launch parameters: if you use "-dologs" by any chance: get rid of it.
the safest way would be to get rid of all besides "-nopause"

what do you mean you hit the wall with your axe? did you clip through the wall? which wall and which barrack exactly? only this one or the others too?
can confirm. you suddenly get hit and have no clue why and from which direction until you realize you have two zeds in your neck...
edit: they still make noises, but you don't hear them walk or run.

unfortunately you have closed my report on this very issue #22505
a combination of Switching back and forth between experimental and stable, deleting all contents from the DayZ folder in appdata and verifying game integrity did the trick for me to at least be able to access SOME servers. however if i try to connect a "WRONG" server i still get the same issue. it's, atm, half broken for me but works on vertain servers.

also when i do all these steps from above this issue goes hand in hand with issue #18656 and they alternate with each other arbitrarily, at least on my end.
i have no idea why it worked this time around, but it did (at least for one particular server where i had this issue)!
procedure:
- delete all contents from /appdata/local/dayz/
- get rid of all startup-cmds
- start DayZ
- connect to server
- let the BE cmd-window pop up, game restarts
- connect to server
- it works!
didn't experience this issue since 0.55. resolved?
this is still happening, however now i don't get the restarting. it's back to #0018656

check if it lies somewhere outside of the building. happend sometimes on experimental. open inventory and run around the building
i disagree in this specific case. we eventually get maybe two separate hand slots, a more sophisticated quickbar functionality and inventory/slot functionality etc. and in such a case it would be a reasonable addition

it may seem as if the "damaged" property of the "container" is projected on the compass. so if my pants are damaged -> compass is damaged -> shows wrong direction.
HOWEVER - though i am not quite sure - it seems as if this also happend to me while i wore just "worn" clothes.
in addition i need to actively toggle the "search for" capture to appear by pressing the associated button, by pressing the same button again, the actual searching animation is initiated. see #21009

ok...your advice lead to this:
deleted the whole contents of appdata DayZ folder. now whenever i try to join a server, the game starts all over again! again i see the BI logo then the early-access disclaimer and later get back into the menu.
Verifying my game did not help!
This all after i switched back from experimental to stable! game is now not longer playable for me!

strange thing is also, there is still no *.ebo file but the game runs now nevertheless :O
added dmp files because i get the same errors. can't commit the *.mdmp file because such "large file sizes are not supported".

TimF i think you are completely right. However this would indicate that thew whole already reworked concept of calculating and syncing the path on server AND client is still far too prone to ping and desync.
latest build: one has to aggro some zeds or even just one and then proceed to a police station. just run through the building through all stories. it's completely broken. you will register impacts and hits from everywhere with the zeds being anywhere.

do you alt-tab from time to time? cause this happens often when i alt-tab my game
still a problem! try to equip a can of beans (not in hotbar) and then get rid of it by dragging it back to the inventory...it doesn't work, which is imo inconvenient to say the least. it might not be a bug but a flaw in design nevertheless.

don't know if this is due to slight desync but i agree since day 1 this is somewhat annoying. wonder what might be the cause.
this is with the latest exp build AGAIN possible! can confirm. sks (in hands) and mosin (on the back). both painted and both in the hotbar. both were still available after spawning on the server
