We've opened a RC-Branch for Mac 2.16. Its Steam beta access code is: MacUpdate216RC
It should work fine already, so if you're keen to get back multiplayer compatibility, switch over.

Hi, our external porting partners have started the process of porting 2.16 to Mac. We cannot confirm a timeline, but of course everyone involved will try to handle it as quickly as possible. We've left a few official servers on 2.14, but understand you're hoping to play on your favorite ones.

DnA added a comment to T158403: Since the DLC came out, I'm unable to upload scenarios to the Steam Workshop. "Steam cloud is disabled in the Steam client.".

This should now be resolved via the Steam configuration, so no game update was needed.
(Steam client was recently updated to include a fix to a many year old glitch that had this side effect for Arma 3.)

OK, we hope to have a fix available to test later this week via a beta branch.
If you'd like to try something before that, you can try unsubscribing from the 5 scenarios one-by-one. One or more of them probably cause the CTD. Later you can subscribe again of course.

Hi, this was an unintended byproduct of fixing these configurations (the PP was not added, but was previously broken).
We're preparing a hotfix which will try to improve this. We've replaced the Chromatic Aberration for Radial Blur (which can be disabled via options). This is more in line with other scopes and collimators of this type.

No need! It's simply one of those issues that's very hard to diagnose as it may be caused by many things.

It can be, but at the moment we still don't have information that confirms either way. Those errors in the user-created modes do not help, but probably don't cause this issue. It can be something in the game, on your machine or in the connection to servers ... but it's not deducible from the current information. It's also important to separate the issues. Your crashes are possibly not connected to the disconnects (they implied GPU / driver issues).

Also, I was able to successfully join two wasteland servers and then I was kicked after joining a third server.

I tried to join an official Zeus co-op server and here is the .rpt file

Unfortunately I don't immediately see something pointing to a cause here. Is it correct you first connected to a session on Stratis, in which someone spawned a Tanoa asset that triggered an error? And then you were in a second session on Altis for some time, but it kicked you? The end of the RPT is rather abrupt and looks incomplete somehow.

After the failure to connect to a server or kick has happened (not a crash), have you tried restarting Steam client and re-logging in?

The attached RPTs show unofficial modes (KOTH e.g.) and 1 without any MP connection. Can you please share a RPT log where you connect to an official server (https://arma3.com/servers), running official modes, without mods loaded, and presenting this issue? While playing unofficial mod(e)s should work, having a repro in this vanilla way can help to isolate the issue.

A fix attempt (14 MB) is now available in Steam RC branch, using access code: Arma3Test148RC. It should be MP-compatible with main branch 1.48. Please let us know whether it improves the client-side FPS issues in any way (even a little).

We have a working theory that may result in a RC of a hotfix soon. However, it's still not clear whether this is one or multiple (dependent or independent) issues. By the way, the only reproduction we do have shows better results when deleting the DLL folder, and thus using the default Windows memory allocator. This allocator is probably slower, but handles the memory situation we suspect may be a factor, in a more graceful way.

FYI: The BE update via its own auto-updater and Steam were the same. We've agreed with BE to roll these out on main branch so the update reaches everyone quicker. The BE files in your A3 install folder are basically a mirror copy. While the BE update may have done something to improve the situation, we believe there's still more going on and are still trying to find it.

@2RGT_Always: The sessions during which you had the problems were all on Altis, or also other terrains? I'm asking because of your statement about Chernarus not having the issues (can you confirm that was also on 1.48?).

@havena: We know it's asking a lot, but it may help progress if you could try testing the game data from 1.46 with the game engine from 1.48 (basically all addon PBOs from 1.46 in the 1.48 installation). That way we could try to rule out data corruption. We still have no PC in our company that can reliably reproduce these issues, so your help is very useful.

@havena: Thanks a lot. https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/getObjectViewDistance is only a getter of the value; it doesn't affect the engine itself. When you don't use that command in your tests, it will still drop in performance, right? But we'll not rule anything out and keep testing object view distance generally.

It's also possible we're seeing a mix of issues here, so we're trying to isolate things and find common factors (e.g. overall performance drops versus crippling but temporary chokes as seen in some of the videos above).

Hi Lex. I was referring to the Beta of the Steam Client application, not the game. But since several people here have stated not using it, and still facing issues, we can at least determine that there's more going on.

@havena: Would you be willing to produce similar logs for 1.46 Legacy by performing similar tests?

Is anybody affected by this using the Steam Client opt-in Beta? Until yesterday, it contained a bug that could cause a severe performance drop when it was downloading Workshop content in the background. This should now have been fixed by Valve. We'd like to know whether this has helped anyone also with this issue, or the two are completely unrelated.

I'm unable to reproduce this issue. The target is there 5 out of 5 attempts, but it's *very* well hidden by dry brush. There is another target near the car wreck which is, by design, only there with a 40% chance.

Please can you try to look for the target again? Scan using magnified zoom and move around in the CP area. Thanks!

Fixed: Third parameter of BIS_fnc_spawnGroup as Scalar did not spawn characters (in Dev-Branch soon)

It was as StevoAU wrote of course. I've only substituted the A2 classes with A3 ones (instead of a more advanced system that actually builds a reasonable group based on configs, rather than hard-scripting class names). We're not using this function in this manner ourselves. Sorry it took this long.

MadDogX's explanation is fair and accurate. You are not being ignored, and as he said the issue is being dealt with more broadly. It does not help us to have the same or very similar issue open and acknowledged in many places. Any optimization is not going to be happening in the matter of days, and this being an Alpha product has been very clearly communicated. Thank you for understanding and I hope you'll be able to enjoy Arma 3 if you can't already now :-)
