It looks like the game closes due to problem with loading Steam.dll files (for accessing Steam functionality).

Can you please verify integrity of the game installation?
Right click on the Arma 3 in library -> properties -> tab local files -> verify integrity of game cache.

Hello,

it looks like the crash dumps were not created (we need rpt + bidmp + mdmp files). It could be that your game actually did not crash or it crashed and was killed off (via task manager) too quickly for crashdumps to create.

Next time it freezes, please try to wait a minute or two so the dumps have time to create. If there are no crashdumps after then, we'll try to find another solution.

As an alternative to exposing the API, even getting the performance related items output to the log would be extremely helpful. Hiding it behind an expressly opt-in option in association with the -nologs would ensure that it doesn't get in the way for people not interested in the output.

I think, we figured out, what's the cause for the issue is.

Please check, if you use any spaces in your custom profile path (f.e. "d:/new path").

The issue seems not appear if you use connected path names (f.e. "d:/newpath").

There might be a fix in the dev branch the next days.

Sorry for the delay, but was tied up with wrok related BS the last few days. There was indeed a space in the profile path: 'D:\System\Users\DJPorterNZ\Documents\Arma 3\Profiles\1.55'.

Tested with the current build (1.55.134018) and it appears to have fixed the issue. Thanks for the quick response and fix.

Ceeeb, you're probably right but this could be corrected.

I don't understand the difficulty you have to reproduce: Edit a group, become a renegade (kill fellows or addrating -10000) check the group you're belonging to (and how the group leader knowsabout you).

The weird side is the consequences of that:

  • you're in enemyside (enemy to all units) but in your group,
  • Your group knowsabout you at max (4), every time, everywhere!,
  • you know where the leader is, because you're keeping icons (not shown on video. I forgot to enable the game setting for icons).

A [player] join grpnull, or something like that, seems to me a good idea.

we are sorry for the trouble you are having with the game.

This error is very generic. It may be caused by many issues, such as a hardware malfunction, a virus in the computer, but also an error in the game itself. Possible solutions:

-Update the graphics card drivers to a newer version.
-Rollback the graphics card drivers to an older version.
-Check the temperature of your GPUs and CPUs.
-Verify the integrity of the game cache using Steam.
-Re-install DirectX.
-Uninstall the Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable package (x86 version), restart your computer and install the package again (do not use the Repair function).
-Run a Windows System File Check tool to repair corrupted system files.

DJPorterNZ is right. An official drag and carry feature (like in ARMA 2) isn't available in ARMA 3 yet (except with scripting commands).

I do recall this option being built ingame as an editor module (in ArmA2) - not sure if it has been forwarded to ArmA3 or not, but in case it was - the issue is valid

I may be wrong, but AFAIK Drag and Carry are only possible in A3 via script, i.e. they aren't default actions but are available via the scripting interface. I would suggest that you pull apart the mission .pbo and look to see which reveive script is is using and see if it has been updated to match the changes needed.

we are sorry you are experiencing issues with our game.

Are you running any mods? If so please try to disable them. Should the problem occur again, please export your game log files from the launcher (again, without any mod).

Steps on how to export logs from ARMA 3 Launcher:

  1. Start ARMA 3 Launcher
  2. Click Options menu
  3. Drop down menu will appear
  4. Select: Prepare Arma Troubleshooting error and save those files
  5. A notification will pop up with the name of the generated file

Please note that it might take some time for files to collect.

Attach the generated files to the ticket. If the files are too big please use some free file sharing service.

Hi,

I was able to get to the main menu now, but when I tried to load the campaign and any of the showcases the game would crash and the following error would appear (for all the drivers I tried).

Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 361.43 stopped responding and has successfully recovered

Hello,

we are sorry for the trouble you are having with the game.

Please try to run the launcher with a -nohwa parameter.

You may encounter issues after upgrading to Windows 10 from another version of Windows. Doing a fully clean install of Windows 10 (or upgrade with loss of data - carefully back-up first please!) can resolve such issues. Some issues can be resolved by repairing common libraries after the upgrade.

Hello,
it looks like you have an old library in the game installation folder. Please check that a following file doesn't exist: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3\SteamLayerWrap.dll" and if it does, delete it. After that verify integrity of the game through Steam client.

Deleting the mods and re-installing them did not work, however when I disabled them I could get into a regular server. When I re enabled the mods I was able to get into the server without issue. So I guess just going to a regular Arma server like you said fixed it. Thank you!

Hello,

So I tried launching unmodded and it worked, I then tried it with mods again and it crashed. I also started getting a the crash if I turned mods of again. Only after closing down the launcher and restarting did it work with vanilla again. So the cause of the crash is a mod (and I probably know which one), but apparently it also messes with the launcher which is what got me confused. I attached some crashdumps, with and without mods.

Encountered the same issue here, to expand on the first post here what's happening:

Player dies
player is put into revive state

  • at this point the curator logic doesn't have a unit assigned anymore, it returns <NULL OBJECT> (tested with getAssignedCuratorUnit <name of the logic>.

upon respawning the assigned unit still is <NULL OBJECT>.

My tests were run on 1.54.133741 unmodded.
