It also happens with command menu. When you open command menu a white circle appears and any enemy/friendly unit inside has its tag displayed.

This is mainly a problem in PvP missions. Players who know the trick of the menus have an advantage over those who don't.

Try this:

  1. ensure that steam is running (try connect)
  2. connect to server Altis life (the screen is freeze and they say me " connection lost "), => hit 'ESC' button, then 'RESPOWN'

Boundingbox doesnt change when crouched or prone (or is it just crouched) if I remember correctly so it is not a good reference for the tag height.

so the civilian head height is correct, but the soldier's is oddly low - i uploaded a screen shot with height comparisons input into spheres next to the unit's head

that appears to show the current height correctly, if you stand a civilian next to a soldier, i get your same numbers, but notice the solder is hunched forward and lower, thus the height difference ( ~ 6 inches? )

although on second thought, 5'7 does seem a tad tall for an average civilian :)

just to mention, i notice boundingboxreal returns consistent values for both civ and soldier despite posture - would be a good reference for an indicator

Thanks Fireball, your very right. As I said, I was receiving support, and have already tried the forums and continue too.

I was giving feedback as to when (Q3 2012 and Q1 2014) something was applied to A3 that was applied to A2, that broke it.

I have very similar issue. It started with arma2 around second half 2012 and A3 early 2014. Before this time B.E. protected servers worked fine. I have been trying to resolve issue with Bastion at B.E. with no luck. During this time I have had same router, I might try a new one soon.

Can you upload somewhere in winrar package please?
When package will be smaller than 5000k, you can attach it here. When package is bigger, please use some free sharing service and post link here.

How find correct crashdump file:
Play until you will have this crash
Look into crashdump folder
Upload crashdump with latest date in name (crashdump is rpt + bidmp + mdmp file with same name)

Upload a copy of your RPT file - you can find this here: (typically)

C:\Users\ {yourname} \AppData\Local\Arma 3\

The file you're looking for will have a format like this:

arma3_2014-01-24_01-41-18.rpt

upload the latest one (the game generates a new one everytime it runs). that contains invaluable information for the developers.

as for customer service, i've never had an issue before with them, but do keep inmind they just did $1 mil in humble bundle sales, so im sure they are swamped.

"High End PC" doesn't mean anything, posting the specs would help more.
You can also use the -noPause launch parameter which will prevent single player missions from going into pause mode when entering the menu.

This is not a bug and doesn't show "FAKE" fps, since the game goes into pause mode when entering the menu in singleplayer and therefor stopping every simulation and gaining FPS as a result.

Nothing wrong here.

In my case this issue was fixed by an update long ago.

Also, for us the server browser itself wasn't loading for several minutes (no interface, nothing, just a blank loading screen). You seem to have the browser just fine but trouble showing up servers so I would say it's not the same issue. ;)

EDIT: After working for a day, it got back to 75s before loading. Ignore this "solution", it will not solve the browser issue, although it may be good for your performance in general.

Check to see if you have a DLL folder inside the Arma3 main folder. This folder is used to retain some alternative memory allocators.
Thing is that running Windows 7 or newer doesn't require these memory allocators, in fact, they are less efficient than Windows 7/8, so I just got rid of the folder and everything was back to normal, now it takes 2 seconds to load the browser.
Running Windows 8.1 x64 here.
If in doubt, just rename the folder (instead of deleting it) and try again.

Is there any real fix for this?
Because I have the same Problem.
After I start ARMA 3 and choose Play > Multiplayer I have to wait 30-50 minutes until it's loaded. When watching this in Windows Task Manager, theres no load on CPU and SSD, no increase in used RAM and no increased network traffic.
The process is marked as inactive.

Details to my system:
CPU: 4 cores clocked at 4 GHz (Haswell)
RAM: 16 GB clocked at 1,9 GHz
GPU: NV GTX770
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB
OS: Windows 8 64 bit

i've experienced this for quite a while (it only would happen when first loading the game and clicking multiplayer; while the game was still open MP screen would load quickly after the first long wait. Closing and reopening the game would have the wait again).

Astaroth, all i did today, was confirm twice that it still had the long wait...then tried switching mp servers to steam...once. since then i cannot for the life of me reproduce the long wait despite the game still defaults to gamespy when loading. So just switching to steam once and back to game spy seems to have fixed this entirely for me. including after sys reboot. No matter which server now, no issue. Awesome, but confusing :) it was a guarantee wait before i tried that today.

Well, I followed the same procedure as cancerouspete and sadly I still have the long wait on my end (stable branch).

As he said, it is like a loading screen when accessing multiplayer for the first time. So it happens before the server browser itself loads, hence before being able to choose between Steam and Gamespy.

I am having the same issue here. Checked integrity of cache (it was fine), tried with and without mods and/or launch options.

Not entirely sure it came with the latest patch for "Adapt", but it would make sense. The only other thing I did consisted of some shenanigans to access the hidden 3D editor but I don't think it messed with the game files.

Also, it seems to do that only on the first access to the server browser of a given session. If I go back to the main menu and hit multiplayer again it then loads quickly.

Have you tried editing your loadout in the 'team' tab on each new briefing screen? I Stashed a sniper rifle in the ammo boxes when I went out on patrol, and I think it was then available in the inventory screen at next breifing!

I am not reporting on DayZ. But the objects referenced are shared from DayZ. Please pay attention before commenting, Goblinbutt, because assuming things are about DayZ and blindly downvoting can prevent issues on things like this from seeing light.

The first one is the pleiades. Where is the problem there? Second one is not a named constellation. It's location is about 35° in declination and about 3h30min in Right Ascension, about level with Atik (Bottom-most star in this perspective of the constellation of Perseus.)

As far as I know, Bohemia uses correct star formations since Operation Flashpoint (european point of view).

Hi, don't tag your ticket with qoutation marks (") ...just write the comma between each tag :) Your tags won't be recognised, if someone is searching for "textures" ...and don't write a point (.) after the tags.

Just do it like that way: constellation, wrong, sky, stars, ...

I use the tag definition that came with page by default. I cannot remove the "" and another (.)...
