I am afraid the this is the only case. However, just for confirmation, could you please try to enable the DLC? You should not be donwloading any large data as they are already present in the game.
Ok, I was able to enable the DLC and the game started as it should three times. I suspect whatever the issue was has now cleared itself. Thanks for the help.
I was able to insert a helo and but a few of the options (such as changing seats in the helo) prompted me to have to buy the DLC. Plus the "LSHIFT+P" promo is in the corner of the screen.
Not using the DLC is OK for the moment. I already purchased the DLC but I have not enabled it in my steam properties for fear that I will have the same issue (purchasing it is what caused the issues in the first place).
Was there an issue with the DLC that has since been fixed by a patch -- since the first release on Nov. 4? Has this issue happened to other players?
Hello,
have you also tried deleting your current profile? If you run your game with parameter -name=blank, it will load with different profile, then we could see if there is a problem with your data or not.
https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3_Startup_Parameters
Also, could you please try to upload your rpt file here?
C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\Arma 3\
Thank you!
So, I deleted my entire steam install and re-installed without the Heli DLC and it seems to be working now. I am uneasy about enabling the Heli DLC now but I guess I can live without it. At least it seems to be working again now. I have uploaded the RPT from yesterday evening. I hope that helps. Thanks.
The Helicopter DLC is always part of the game for all users. Those who purchased it have it activated, so you should be fine. Try to insert a Taru helicopter in the editor and get in as pilot to see if that works.
There were changes in the engines how to handle objects on older (now community) maps to prevent crashes. To rule out the possibility that these changes might have part in the issue, I am asking to try it on unmoded game. Dwarden, as our Online Services Technician, did well to ask you to bring the issue to the feedback tracker and I thank you for doing so. However, we cannot move forward unless we have elementary questions answered.
Thanks for clearing that up. The Nopryl Community event was on Altis, same performance issues there. Although various mods were used in this mission as well. I'll ask Sjaba to convert the mission into Vanilla. Like I mentioned before, the SHAPE campaign/missions cannot easily be converted into Vanilla as they are mod dependent.
As Iceman already asked, is it possible that you try running server without any community mods and missions? So no SHAPE campaign and no addons. Just run a server with any official arma 3 mission on 1.32 and then on 1.34 so you can confirm that this issue is happening to you also when not using any community mods or missions. Thank you
Seriously?
I was asked by Dwarden to upload the missions used + RPT files. I am just stating the obvious difference that THE ONLY THING changed from one day (v1.32) to the next day (v1.34) was the Arma version resulting in a 60% performance drop. Addons, player count, AI count, have NOT changed. This leads to the obvious conclusion that Arma3 is the cause of the drop. Sorry for caps but it seems I am not getting through. Several communities have noticed a similar performance drop with different modlines, maps etc. It seems the common dominator is Arma3 v1.34.
The SHAPE mission is featured on Takistan. Mission and scripts rely on add-ons. There is no easy conversion to a Vanilla version. The Nopryl community mission was done by someone else. It was featured on Altis so could perhaps could be vanilarized. Will ask the MM, Sjaba.
@Iceman, do you have all the information to proceed?
As Drakeziel says, all the rpt files contain mods loaded. Is it possible to disable them all and have a game started with official content only to confirm the issue?
We are aware of some performance drops introduced in the latest update but this confirmation would help us as well.
Vanilla means "Without any mods" not just the map. Addons may seriously affect FPS in any case.
The said community event was a mission on Altis (with mods/add-ons). I'll go check if I can dig up the server RPT logs
Edit: uploaded RPT log from 4-11-2014.
Edit2: uploaded RPT log + mission from Nopryl community event
Uploaded arma3server_2014-11-04_19-46-16.rpt which I assume is the correct rpt file for the nopryl server.
Hi Iceman,
We tested with exactly the same specs before and after the update. The ONLY factor that was changed was ARMA3 client and ARMA3 server.
We did not test using a Vanilla mission.
Note that I joined a community event that same night. 14 players, 45 enemies, minimal objects on the map > 9-15 server FPS throughout the game. See post: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?185191-Update-1-34-gt-Major-loss-of-Server-FPS-on-dedi-servers
Thanks for the info, however I will still need to know if this happens in vanilla or not. Older maps can have some object compatibility issue which is causing these drops and answer to this question could point us to the right direction. Thank you.
Hello,
is this drop happening with mods loaded only? Can you reproduce it on unmoded game?
Unable to reproduce if the issue persists, please create a new ticket. Thank you.
Hello, I hope we are speaking of the same problem I found yesterday:
- create a player unit
- create gamemaster module (Zeus)
- preview the mission
- call Zeus
- place a manned Offroad infront of (and view direction) to the player unit
- remote control the driver in the Offroad
- get out of the Offroad and get in back (passenger seat) of the Offroad
- the remote controlled unit now switches to the drivers seat and its view is locked
- if you press W (forward) and/or move the mouse you can now control your player unit from the view of the remote controlled unit.
I also noticed some other odd behaviour in vehicles while remote-controlling an AI unit as Zeus. Possibly related? These include:
- When entering the Mi-290 co-pilot position (RH) it always auto-kicked me into the LH seat after a moment.
- Getting randomly ejected from vehicles from time to time.
I haven't thoroughly investigated these secondary issues - but they may be associated with the same underlying cause of the main issue.
Yeah 100% sure the Heli update caused this problem.
I switched to the Legacy Build and it's working again.
So CfgAddons/PreloadAddons needs to be fixed.
It's the tipping over to the side which makes you blow up, not the rotors themselves. Helicopters are way to explosive right now.
The issue tracker is not the place for questions. Try the forums: http://forums.bistudio.com/index.php
Hi, Feedback Tracker is not designed for similar questions. It is better to use official forums (http://forums.bistudio.com/) in similar cases. Thank you for understanding.
Btw. the answer to your question is no. You don't need to play on official servers. You only need to play an official mission, but it can be hosted by anyone.
There is already tickets related to this problem and they've been Ignored by Bohemia completely.
This ticket is now resolved as of update 1.54
I absolutely do not support the idea of using launchers on a vehicle in FFV mode...I doubt ISIS would even shoot RPGs from their pickup trucks, for example.
But I do support what I think is a config glitch, where I have configured a helo for FFV, made it so that cargoCompartments and gunnerCompartments match up so a person sitting on the FFV position can switch back inside the helo (to Passenger seat), however can not switch back to FFV unless the helicopter has no AI in it.. :S
Still an issue.
When there is no one occupying the vehicle (that has Fire from Vehicle capability) other than the player, the player is able to switch seats. If there is an AI or another player occupying the driver/passenger seat, the player can no longer switch seats.
There is a specific reason the military doesn't allow firing rocket's from vehicles of any kind. In game, and in real life. No.
Plus, they don't even have back blast in Arma 3 anyway.

Switching the seats if there aren't all seats occupied by other players or AI would be really great.
I think it would be best not to be able to use a rocket launcher in a vehicle at all. Probably in the Military have rule of not shooting a rocket while in a chopper for safety reasons.
Additionally, if you select multiple objects (LMB, click & hold, drag) then rotate/shift/adjust/move them, they all go to the same exact spot. In one case, I moved three trucks, then they all went to the same spot on top of each other and blew up.
Hello,
Thank you for reporting the issue.
We need crash dump files from this folder for solve your problem.
C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\Arma 3\
Can you upload somewhere in winrar package please?
When the archive is smaller than 5000k, you can attach it here. When it is bigger, please use some free sharing service and post link here.
How to find correct crashdump file:
Try to make the crash happen
Look into crashdump folder
Upload crashdump with latest date in name (crashdump is rpt + bidmp + mdmp file with same name). Please try to provide as many crashdumps as possible, it helps us investigating the problem in a big way.
Thank you.
Same issue here, game crashes when trying to order AI to get into HEMTT truck.
I have attached the crash dumps.
I believe that this issue has been resolved with one of the updates since. Thank you.
As far as I can see there is a splash for all kind of fixed wings. Comparing to the chopper splash the splash of the planes are too small.
This issue in oblivion. The all planes in the game need normal crash. http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=21206
Hello,
this is indeed intended behavior as there were problems caused by double loading of the addons. The launcher is still being worked on and more features are to come. The main goal is to make it easier to use, do not worry that it will block some functionality.
It's the same thing if you launch mods through Steam launch parameters or if you add mods to your Arma3.exe shortcut, you can only see the mods you've enabled through those and nothing else in the expansion menu.
They needed to force even empty -mod= parameter which causes that you don't see any local mods in the expansion because there were some issues I believe. Launcher is using -mod= parameter and the expansion menu is using your profile file so that can cause some confusion.
Are you saying that it is intended that you get less features then you open the game in a more advance way? It would be okay if the launcher scanned for local mods, but right now it does not.
And I do not need to know how to use the -mod=parameter, I have been using it for many years, thank you. :)
But it clearly looks like a bug, so that's why I am reporting it. If the BI says it's not, then I will be quiet and continue to develop missions. :)
But the mods was showing up just fine without any problems (for me at least) at least two updates ago, when starting via the launcher of cause.
Thank you that helped:
"Forced -mod= parameter to be presents at all times, even when no mods are selected"
http://dev.arma3.com/post/spotrep-00034
so would say intended feature :)
With a launcher you have a modline. -mod:@mod1;@mod2;
This will force the loading of that mod and no other mods.
I would say this is a inteded feature of the entire arma series.
As stated from St.Jimmy the launchers job is to enable mods. So it forces those mods onto the game. If you choose nothing then it will force that no mods are loaded.
How would the 'upgrades' be added to the armored vehicles? Would it be as simply as dragging it on from a engineer, or perhaps something deeper?
It is a pretty good idea, and would be even better if it expanded to all vehicles (helos, planes, boats ect). However, balance concerns may be a major issue.
I think it was closed because everything works as intended.
There's no reason that the game would show any other mods than you've launched in the expansion menu when you're using launcher because you can use the launcher to enable all local mods. You would also need to restart the game even if you enable mods from the expansion menu so it's just better use the launcher. I can also imagine only more problems if you could enable mods from the expansion menu if you use launcher.
Just enable the mods from the launcher because that's why it exists...
I didn't see any problem in the original ticket and in this. From the original ticket "I just tried to use the Parameters -> Mods option in the Launcher to load mods and this seems to work fine. "
We are aware the next DLC is marksman. I mean a possible future update.
