Hello,
thank you for reporting the problem. The crashdumps do not contain any valuable info, is it possible for you to attach more of them? It would help us a lot, thank you very much.
Zeus was a playable unit on bluefor side squad mate was an AI in editor preview placed with the Zeus interface.
Your description is confusing. you say you tried to fly the helicopter after both pilots are already dead.
Was Zeus a playable unit or interface only?
What side is zeus?
Is squad mate another player?
Is this multiplayer or single player?
Was squad mate placed in editor or with Zeus interface?
No, if you're still freezing after downloading a fresh copy of a mission file then it's not the same issue I was experiencing. I wouldn't recommend deleting you arma 3 app data folder.
Hi Iceman, thank you for taking the time to investigate my issue. I feel a hint of irony that Iceman will help me with my game Freezing!! Cenwulf, different servers in my tests below and each time I had to download the mission files from the server anyway. Do you think I should try removing all my AppData for Arma 3??
So this is what I have tried this evening.
- Ran Steam as Admin
- Verify integrity of game cache (all files successfully validated)
- Checked Set Launch Options (all clear)
- Ran Arma3 (note this is done through Steam not using the Open Launcher Option or Play withSix)
- Disabled all Mods
- Restarted Arma 3
- Joined game with 53ms ping with around 12 of x players
- Spent 10-20 mins playing until FREEZE (Crash dumps 19th @ 0701 PM)
I wasn't sure if maybe having Mods already enabled made a difference so I tried again, meanwhile Steam Update started and completed.
- Ran Steam as Admin
- Verify integrity of game cache (all files successfully validated)
- Ran Arma3
- Join game with 77ms ping 0/39 players (me against the world)
- Spent a nice amount of time in an attack heli raining down terror on Camp Rogain (not sure if I killed anyone but the buildings felt it!)
- Landed a few clicks SW then proceeded on foot until I approached the combat zone
- Caught my breath from running so far and FREEZE! (Crash dumps 19th @ 0804 PM)
I also included a .rpt from 19th @ 0646 PM, not sure why that .rpt is there but it might have some significance.
Would it help if I installed Arma 3 standalone and not through Steam Client? If so am I able to do this without purchasing a new copy?

We applied fixes to get rid of the issue, could you please try it when the new update is out? It should be in a week and a bit.
I cannot wait to test it, I will be thoroughly impressed by your companies speedy resolution if all goes well. Thank you.
Any chance you could elaborate on the fix? I'm a systems analyst and am intrigued by the cause of my issue. Thanks again Iceman.
The problem was caused by the recently updated PhysX libraries in the last update. I cannot be more specific, sorry.
@Asteliks
That was an easy fix, now says 1080... game still freezes but!!
Is it always on the same server? I had a similar problem caused by a corrupted mission file for a server I regularly played on. I would be able to play for a random length of time. Deleting the mission file from the mpmissions cache in the arma 3 apps data folder solved it for me. It would also make sense that the issue persisted after a full reinstall as the apps data folder isn't necessarily deleted even after a uninstalling the game.
Hello,
thank you for reporting the problem. I have examined your crash files. Could you please remove all startup parameters and verify your game data?
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335
After that, please create a new bunch of crashdumps and attach them again, thank you. This will ease the investigation. Also, one of the crashfiles suggests that the crash might be connected to your Steam Client. Please, ensure that you are running the latest version and consider running it as an Administrator from now on. I'll be waiting for the new crashdumps without start up parameters and custom allocators, thank you very much.
Added return value.

GTX 970, Nvidia driver 350.12, A3 dev branch:
Starting with the dev branch version from May 11 or May 12 I am experiencing frequent crashes of the graphics driver, usually within 15mins of running the game.
Eventvwr logs messages that the driver 'nvlddmkm' has stopped responding and has been restarted.
This happens in A3 only! (I have stress tested with Unigine benchmarks and other games.)
No such crashes before May 11!
Here's 2 crash dumps from today. The game plays with very low FPS (10-30) and as soon as I go into the menu (ESC) it crashes every time.

I take it this is still an issue? I just got a GTX 970 the other day and ArmA started crashing on me. It never crashed in such a manner with the GTX660 I had. No other changes to system other than ArmA updates and new card (same drivers/software).
The game window (running in windowed borderless mode) just goes solid color. Sometimes it takes my graphics driver with it, sometimes not.
Perhaps my case is interesting because the only thing that changed for me is the card and the problem started. My PSU is more than powerful enough for 3 way SLI, and the 970 pretty much uses the same amount of power as my 660 anyway.

All running fine (vanilla without MODs)... give it a try ?
Have you already done some GPU benchmarks ?
I know what you mean, I've tried to eliminate as many of the variables as I can but I'm still coming up against the same issue.
I've tried underclocking, overvolting, stock CPU, OC'd CPU 2 x fresh reinstalls with Pro and Enterprise, maxxed out fan profile, PSU is 860i so very solid voltages and pretty much every combination you can think of regarding driver versions and the elements installed.
You may be onto something with the manufacturer as a few of us have the MSI version of this card, seems unlikely though as it should be nothing more than a PCB redesign but you never know. There is a definite correlation however with drivers past 344 and increased incidents of crashing, for us at least.
Guess no insights from BI yet on this.... because there is no problem with the NVIDIA Drivers.
Thanks for the input R34P3R, your comment actually just made everything work fine for me and everyone else with this issue.
Also if you're saying there is no problem with the Nvidia drivers, and keep in mind that there is certainly an issue with crashes for some people regardless of whether or not you experience them, then surely the issue lies with Arma?
You need to look outside the box... 3 - 4 guys report crash with NVIDIA Drivers and GTX 970 but there are 200+ players they dont have any issue with this card or drivers, so my conclusion is that the problem is somewhere else... maybe bad system/drivers, bad DX files, other background procresses (AV), bad mainboard - GPU communication, instable powersupply and and and...
it will be more interesting to get all spesifications of your system not only the report that the driver crashs. Maybe all you guys have the same card from the same manufacturer. Also... does this also happend on a complete fresh system with all current drivers. Dont be pissed off ;-) Give some more informations.. maybe we find the problem.
..... much better but I still get crashes most days. Guess no insights from BI yet on this.
Still an issue with 350.12 however rolling back to 344.75 is much better again.
Not working for me unfortunately as it's one of the first things I tried was to disable PhysX. :-(
Also the latest 350 drivers are showing the same issue as I crashed after about 30 mins. Think I'm gonna head back to the 344 ones as I can go a few days without crashing with those.
ím running with 350.12 and Win7 64 Bit. I dont have any issues. Wich Windows did you running at ? CPU ? RAM ? OVERCLOCKED ?
Generally NVIDIA answers to these kind of questions. There is no problem with PhysX.
maybe its only a problem on your system... check this first... 99% of GTX 970er users dont have any problems with the drivers.
So you think its a problem in PhysX ?
Or CUDA. the way to check is that the people suffering the issue disable those two in the drivers, or one of them, then the other, and see how it effects the driver crashing.
I had this unbearable issue as well. I've managed to solve it temporarily by disabling PhysX and CUDA on the card through the nvidia control panel. Obviously this is not a proper solution, but it might help isolate the issue.
No problems with 970 since 5 month ! (Autoupdate driver)
"PiepMGI: Same as R34P3R. I downvote until attached files for this ticket. Start with crashDump! "
That's really mature, just try and bury the topic because you have no problem with yours. Also what do you think the first thing I did was? Oh looks like you realised that my first post included the requested crash dumps and deleted your comment.
There are obviously people here with an issue regardless of whether or not you have a problem. All I'm looking for is that someone acknowledge that there may be a problem and at least state that they are working to a solution. If there is ANYTHING else I can do or provide to help out with then then I will gladly do so, what frustrates me is that this has been occurring for so long without any end in sight.
nextgeneration be quiet! I removed this post few minutes after i wrote it. I don't allow you to judge me for that. I keep downvoted for your present attitude now!
347.88 works fine.
Many of us had a lot of issues with anything over 347, only the 344 one mentioned above has any sort of real impact. Still getting a couple of Arma crashes though, just not driver crashes like before.
I had same issue. I downgraded back to 344.75 to get Arma 3 working again. No crashes with those drivers.
NVIDIA likely has fucked up something really bad with the new drivers or Arma 3 isn't supporting those well. Either way BIS needs to get contact with NVIDIA about GTX 970 and their couple latest drivers that are literally unplayable.
At least either acknowledge that this is an issue which you are working to fix or point the finger at Nvidia and tell them to get with you to fix the damn problem as the other people I personally know with this issue only have it within Arma 3!
If the problem only seems to be with your game or very specific hardware while running your game the logic dictates this must be an issue with ..... your game.
I had played this game fine until a couple of months ago and since then have reverted back to drivers that once were stable, the conclusion this leads me to is that there has been a change made during a previous patches that has brought instability.
Instead of piling on the new features and adding DLC, please fix the obvious issues at hand as this would bring us much more happiness than a bipod I can only use for a while before the game crashes on me.
As quoted from an SC2 post a while back "Give someone a good experience, and their friends will hear about it. Give someone a bad experience, and everyone will hear about it."
Thanks for the tip St. Jimmy, I downgraded to those drivers and haven't had a crash in 2 days. My Arma stopped working once but the Nvidia drivers didn't crash so I guess it was unrelated.
So I guess the question now is .... who's job is it to fix this; Nvidia or BI?
Same issue, crashes during gameplay, sometimes crashes just the game, and i have to force close it. Othertime, it will crash my complete system. I know of 4 people with this issue, and we all are extremely large ARMA players. This issue is with ARMA 3 only, i can play ARMA 2 fine, well as DayZ. Any updates would be fantastic, Thanks.
This is getting beyond hilarious now.
Hello,
Thank you for reporting the issue.
We need crash dump files from this folder to analyze your problem.
C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\Arma 3\
Can you upload somewhere in winrar package, please?
Archive smaller than 5000 KB can be attached directly to the ticket. For bigger archives, please use some free sharing service and post link here.
How to find correct crashdump file:
Try to make the crash happen
Look into crashdump folder
Upload crashdump with latest date in name (crashdump is rpt + bidmp + mdmp file with same name). Please try to provide as many crashdumps as possible, it helps us investigating the problem in a big way.
Thank you.
Love to see some more progress made on this, it's getting beyond a joke now. We have 5 people all with the GTX970 and one with a 980 and are experiencing the issue above on a daily basis. We have tried ALL of the suggested solutions listed from various points on the web between us as nothing seems to help.
Here are the files requested:

The issues only seemed to come about after the Arma patch earlier this year, my card was working fine from October until that point.
Iceman: I don't think any crash dumps are being created. The game will just randomly minimize when the drivers crash and I have to force close it through the task manager.
Jagblade: I'm using the current 347.52 and it's happening, also occurred with the previous non-beta driver version as well. Haven't played the game much before those versions but it's nice to see zero progress has been made on stability since I played it a year ago.
I had this issue as well specifically on this card. I updated to the 347.52 driver and it stopped however. Is this the driver you're using?
there might be a crash dump regarding an ingame crash just disregard it thanks :)
so i figured it out somewhat... what appears to be happening is that there are so many servers while its finding all the servers it lags more and more till it cant handle all the found servers it seems. after changing my filter setting i can stay in lobbys for longer but not infinetly, idk why this would happen to just me though none of my friends have this problem and my computer is more than capable of handling a game like this...
Hello,
could it be your home router? Do you have an old model or a newer one? There is a known bottleneck situation between Steamworks and routers.
Hello,
thank you for reporting the issue. Unfortunatelly, your crashdumps do not contain any valuable data. Is it possible to upload more of them (as many as you can)?

What I can not understand, you asked me to send you these files, yet you do not time the time to communicate or update me in anyway. although this might penalize this call, it seems that you have no interest in helping me. I have paid good green money to play this game and you having a support forum confirms that you should support. even a simple i am working on the problem will suffice. yet i rushed home to reply and send the files you asked for.
PS. if i do not hear from you in the next 12 hours i will escalate this call 0022740.
Icemand it is doing it again right now, again I will upload those files
on the earliest rpt I was playing fine, then I got kicked and every time here after. ping now double and downloading mission file takes for ever
ok Hello, I uploaded some of the rpt files from both pc's that is having the same problem. during this phase that happens both our pings are more than double. this has happened before but what somehow ok the next day that we played. this time its just caring on. Please help, we both play on TOP servers and have so many friends where we enjoy this game to the fullest. yet now we can not play as our pings do not allow it. please can you help
JayBOT
Hello,
is it possible to upload your rpt file?

Fixed on devbranch.

i really felt this problem should be given some attention after a decade of persistence. it's a problem since operation flashpoint and still have not been fixed yet :(
i realize it's a low priority item on the to do list, but i think a decade is a long enough time to stay on that list.
sometimes i need to use speakers so i can hear other people talking to me of knocking on the door but sometimes i can use headphones for more immersion. not having the ability to do this on the fly really hampers my ability to enjoy the game fully.
please push this up the priority list
