Same here: I have noticed that zombies footsteps cannot be heard - when I am creeping slowly in a house, my footsteps sound like elephants, but zombies can charge in at full speed and make no noise. Similarly, a zombie chasing you in the forest makes no sound; I can hear the footsteps of other players near me, but not running zombies.

Yeah... Ezio Auditore da Firenze.
I seem to get these invisible zombies while mainly inland about 2km all the way up to the NW Airfield. They are silent until they hit you and cannot be killed (tried by spamming an entire AKM mag where the zombie was attacking me from)
They've been a bother since 0.42 but are far worse now in the new zombie update of 0.55, much faster, can attack from any direction and cannot be avoided by sneaking because you can walk right into them.
On top of the pre-existing teleporting zombie bug, this makes 0.55 close to unplayable for me, and I'm almost kitted out with the best weapons and gear in the game so far... kind of frustrating.

They make sounds only when they in pacific condition. As soon as they get activated by you... thats all. No sounds. Apart from sounds you've been hit =).
Comme on guyes ( developers). Zeds are not perfect killers or hunters. They are f88ing stupid, they must yell when they made sure you are alive and eatable.
But never saw them invisible. ( its logical=) )
the zombie pathfinding is way to fast. as anyone else i've never seen one in rl, but it seems ridiculous that a zombie - and yes they are zombies, it's called dayZ for a reason - reacts without delay.
but they're ridiculous anyway now... haha. zombies on speed. once i was afraid, now i am just laughing. a dissapointment. zombies should be deadly, evil, loud and appear in masses everywhere. well, they are more deadly now. but that's just it. no surprises. speed - imo - is no solution to generate fear.
The zombies in DayZ are supposed to be sick humans, not undead and not super stupid.
The "zombies" in the film I am Legend maybe gives you an idea.
But it is true That zombies immediately go to the next available path.
I would like to see 'em move around the house and searching for an entrance a little slower.
vatixerid - no problem there. let them be smart. but there's a difference between smart and all-knowing. they KNOW there's an open door even without seeing it.
A zombie shouldn't "pathfind" like a computer.
He should claw the door you closed in their face before attempting to find other entrances to the house.
I hate it when a house has two doors, i get in, close the door and the zombie instantly goes to the door on the other side of the house that he can't even see but somehow knows it's open.
Even in the walking dead they can not climb ladders. I hope they will never learn it.
I think the zombie-path-finding is good.
I wait till the zombies can open unlocked doors, climb ladders and jump over obstacles and climb trough big enough windows and also don't have a unsexy respawn mechanism :P
And when they will be able to make facial expressions, gestures and whisper crazy stuff, call other zombies to help I gonna be happy to have a full magazine and a lot of bullets in my inventory!
Sounds like "mimimi can't handle the new zombies" at first but it is actually a real issue. Zombies just seem to know where all the doors are and whether they are empty or closed. This leads to pretty strange behavior like zombies running all round the building front to run through an open door far on the other side.
my character was kos by some player when not be able to sneak out from roof of the building, because zombie is following you with no problem seeing through walls and hearing you from 50 m out, so it is always accurately waiting for you when you trying to get out. So I was running like stupid from one end of the roof to another (huge building) and then trying to sneak out back, trying to kill it from the edge (too close) etc, great, another 20 h through the window
You complain about their stupid AI and now when they get update you complain about them beign too smart. Just stop it ffs
Do not talk bullshit, it-s process of setup to find the perfect balance. Now developers have gone frome one extremeness to another. Its all about golden middle. So if we are bought the alfa then we involved into develpment and must say our minds.
i can say ,when you enter a house and theres 2 doors u close one and they change there path to the next open doors very fast like they know !

I'm trying to understand what is the new concept of zombies in dayz and I think they behave too much as live human beings, and it is not right in my concept of it. They should be dull, easy to kill if not in numbers, they should try to attack you through the fence, I'm thinking walking dead etc. I shouldn't think about the zombies as the intelligent enemies because they are lower than animals and their brains are almost dead. And the new stealth system? I was trying to hide in bushes from them, does not work...
Please increase numbers of them, do the massive migrations, put them in the buildings randomly, let's get players sweat because they don't know what can wait behind the doors, but do not do 'van dam universal soldiers' out of them.
They nust be deadly. You shoud get scared to shit when you here they are started to chase you. I see all is ok with zombies for now. BUt their pathfinding is cheaty.

I think they at least should thrash about looking for pass in a fence. If you saw some videos where animal have get in a cage. They start runing around looking for an exit. The conception of zombies in DayZ is about people faster becomes animals i think, then agressive smartyes.

To find one can of the most poor can which exists in 5 hours (!) is not cool.
This has nothing to do with "survival". This is just a bad bug and Eugen says "We want it like this". nice way to say "we don't know where the problem is".

These invisible objects are everywhere. I always thought they were placed but never actually set to be shown.

The new loot-espawn-system ist very very bad I have to say.
Nothing is spawning and if there is spawning something, its trash-loot nobody needs.
- I read that everyone on the server needs to loot very actively to let the server respawn some loot. So, i there is nobody looting, because there is no loot, the server will never respawn loot.
- I read that the server needs X-Items dropped down to the floor to respawn new some loot. But if there are not enough people dropping loot on the floor, the server will never respawn loot.
- there are some special buildings where you can find after 3 or 4 server-restarts a TON of loot (like before in vybor military base in the prison, 2st floor)
Yes. Even on servers that blatantly state they are high loot (and have been) have nothing at the moment.
yes and in the towns at the coast there is nothing to eat and you cant survive as a freshspawn. My Friend died 6 times yesterday cause there was no loot. We have a 40 Slot Server and you cant find anything. On a other server with usually 3-4 Players there is nothing to find too so please fix that cause its not playable at the moment cause you cant survive as a freshspawn
Sucks when your character dies from sickness, you come back 12 minutes later only to find that your body with all the items has disappeared but the items that you manually placed on the ground are still there

No, i didnt. And definatly wasnt cause of ping, i looked up many of the servers i noticed that were missing and joined them through there IP and checked my ping was always 60-90. Anyhow it has randomly fixed itself.
I didnt do anything special to remedy it.
It might of been something to do with my ISP at the time, im really not sure.

The road flare is not hard to find. And you can use it several times.
I think there should be more ways to make fires (like using gunpowder from bullets)
Hi, You can use a Road Flare to light Fires. Put the flare in your hands, light the flare then it gives option to light fire when your close to it.
Thats right Minty, but Roadflares are also extremely rare to find. So it's really hard to find anything to light a fire.
This would be great... It would solve the start-game problems that ward off most new players. Much more realistic to start with a lighter instead of a flashlight. Also matches are somewhat scarce.

Generally, I agree that bambi default equipment needs to be rethought.
I also think that a pocket knife would make more sense than going right to find a bunch of stones and crafting a "stone knife" (that is ten times better than a kitchen knife as well).
A lighter is a great idea.
But I disagree with implementing cigarettes. As an ex-smoker for 14 years all I can say is cigarettes are a pain in the butt and being addicted complicate matters for anybody wanting to survive in an apocalypse scenario. And I really don't know if there were any positive effects for a non-smoker. Smoking one full cigarette will get your usual non-smoker to get really dizzy.

I thought this to be intentional, when I looted a police station I found empty Mp5 clips near the windows (as if the police force would have hold-out in the station but eventually been overrun or escaped).. but I agree the lootspawns are weird now, it's like there's been a school at the airfield.

Yes, this needs to change ASAP. I'm totally fine with the Zombies being hard, but not hearing them at all until they actually hit you makes them broken.

I reported this bug over a year ago and it was confirmed and assigned to someone, but it has never been fixed.
This was a lockpicked door. Yust meele against it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated in this matter I haven't logged back into Dayz since the error occurred.
