SaOk added a comment to T77587: Random ArmA3.exe/PhysX/d3d11.dll-crashes with official build/DEV-version.

Got the crash now with the new official build. With previous official build had no single physX-crash. Dumps attached. Just in case the supply crate have oversized bounding box (or massive offset down). If that is somehow related. Issues started around the same time. But havent seen any clear cause for the crashes. Having all objects featured in the mission if there is some e.g. small object causing it.

I have been playing with official build for many hours now and no crashes with it yet (in the same mission). The @SaOkNew-mod is only voices and music and worked without issues for over month (for lots of other players too without issues reported). Could test without it too of course, but heading for Holiday in few hours. Back in 8 days.

Testing next with release candidate. The current official build havent had these PhysX crashes.

Seems like something with physX? The mod (@SaOkNew) only contain music and custom voices (and worked stable for months).

Added 2 new dumps, getting random crashes with DEV-version. Didnt have issues with official build. Still have added some heavy functions recently that have slight changes of causing it (but dont get any error messages and all working good). Dont know what is causing it to repro, but just in case attacthed the dumps.

Havent crashed yet in 1.22RC, but maybe tested the same functions only 2 hours. In DEV-version got 2 crashes in one hour. So looking very good, but not 100% sure. I let you know if crashes appear.

Another similar crash, but this time wasnt throwing grenades, but still boats present just in case. Heading back to official build to see if the issue is also there.

I couldnt get yet the crash in 1.22RC. Very tiny change it was a shoreline search I made, that would have stucked in loop (added max count now). But the crash happened minutes after calling the function, mathemically it shouldnt have been possible and the boats seemed to follow normally the results (the searched landing site). I keep testing it later today and could try to make repro too.

before the
unitname fire...
and working now, but seems like still sometimes failing. Strange that thought I tested with the _unit selectWeapon _muzz; already before but not then working. The playactionnow have some role? Strange stuff.

Watched the vid - absolute no way its caused by my scripts - shooting CSAT AA-vehicle gives FPS hit, and the NATO vehicle dont. Nothing running for vehicles, except the vehicles maybe listed in array to later removal check.

As test, I placed Tigris in the Whole Lotta Altis and shot it with panther (as in the video). Working normally for me, even had the same blastcore and possible JSRS2 seen/heard in the vid.

Shouldnt happen because of the mission, dont get the issue myself and there is no other players reporting it. ;) Had theory of fired eventhandler (that I have only for player, to detect when he throws smoke grenade, used the same script many years without issues) getting lauched too often when in vehicle gunner position, but couldnt reproduce that too. Mission else works between 60-35FPS.

Thats a bit shame since WLA playtime is from 15-30 hours. Even if updating the mission more rarely there will be always someone that then looses his progress. I am not updating the mission to fix bugs, but to expand it even more.

The not forced mission updates were possible still late last year so suprised its no longer possible. But respecting your decision.

Possible report (from WLA mission page in workshop) of issue being there also with new profile:
"SaOK[FIN] - 1st april, save removed due to mission updated :) not related to profile new/old. I don't mind starting over since i keep messing up with the construction truck building."

With "ArmA3 Alpha"-folder removed the issue happened for me. First was playing, then saved, exited the game, came back and there was resume button normally. But as second test, I uploaded "new" version for the mission to workshop, exited the game, saw that steam instantly downloaded something, and once getting back the only options is "Play" so resuming/savegames get missing when mission is updated in the workshop. It should only download the latest mission version when pressing restart for the mission, but now its doing that automatically erasing the old version and saves.

Could the old "ArmA3 Alpha"-folder cause some conflict? Removed it myself, but havent yet reproduced the savegame missing issue myself.

Mission savegame folder is named [dyn%2fsp]%20whole%20lotta%20altis.altis. Could the [ ]'s symbols have some bad effect or the / (%2f) ?

Old profile mixing something? This was posted to WLA mission page:
"SaOK[FIN] Can you check if saving issues are also a cause of old "profiles" being used for new maps, that are profiles from several uninstallations and so on. My old profile refused to make it's own folder in "my documents/arma 3" where as a new profile does, and the saves show up."

Before late last year, it only downloaded the newest mission version when clicking restart. Players could use old mission version as long they wanted.

I havent managed to reproduce the problem myself. Rarely play the mission long and if playing, I always use the old method.

I guess the player is loosing resume button, when mission is updated. Normally they should be able to continue with old version using resume, but from the late last year have folks have mentioned resume button vanishing.

There was this issue earlier if related to this:

Waited to see if the new official build would have solved this savegame issue too but not.

Last january one had managed the continue old save:
"When i want to load,i has just "play" but my saves files were into C:\Users\Alexandre\Documents\Arma 3\Saved\steam\[dyn%2fsp]%20whole%20lotta%20altis.altis

To reload your old game:

  • Don't create new game now.
  • Copy the file "save.arma3save" or "autosave.arma3save" and put it anywere you want. (choise the later you have).
  • Delete the all files into [dyn%2fsp]%20whole%20lotta%20altis.altis. keep "Weapon.config" it is your "Virtual ammo box".
  • Create new game.
  • In the folder [dyn%2fsp]%20whole%20lotta%20altis.altis.The new file who have the same name isn't your old because it was patch yesterday. old : 3868kb new : 3885kb, that why the game don't found your old save.
  • Quit and paste the old "save.arma3save".into the new folder save.
  • optionnal i have paste this "save.arma3save" too and rename it to "autosave.arma3save" to have the second same save file.

Enjoy. sorry for my english."

Using disableCollisionWith, allowdamage and having delay before paraglide is made, didnt help. Crate dosent seem to want to fall when attached in paraglide.

Looks like the paraglide dosent like if I set: _crate attachTo [_glide, [0,0,0]]; If the height is set 1 (crate is inside rope) or -1 (crate is far away), it works.

Have been working in unreal engine 4 for the last 3 months. But dont remember seeing pistol issue much anymore. But cant confirm if the issue is there or not in the current game builds.

Added repro also for the pistol in hand issue. In the repro mission, team-mate gear is changed to random. After that they put rifle on back and use pistol (for too long).

Just in case - someone now mentioned, that the issue could be related to admin rights in windows?:
"I am using JSRS and Blastcore too. It is'nt mod issue.
It's an Admin user issue:
The new mission file who is patched did'nt erase the old. The game search the true version but don't find it and don't load the older.
Run admin steam and arma 3. Change it into properties of these ".exe"."

Someone is using this trick to use savegames that suddently dont appear:

Is the game currently forcing the latest mission version to be used all the time? Before it only downloaded the latest mission version when starting new game. If using resume you could continue playing the old version.

Tried to get the loadgame issue, but that dosent seem to happen for me yet. Not sure if the players with that issue had some mods installed. Will try it again later and report here if spotting anything.

"having an issue with this mode. last night it was working fine but today my save is gone and i cant even get it to load :\ i click play and nothing happens. any advice?"

Seems like if you are playing and new version is released, it messes things badly.

It seems to happen only if you had the mission subcrided before the last official patch. Then there was outdated code in the Documents\Arma 3\[yourprofile]\Saved\steam that required manual removal before the mission could launch with redownloaded mission.

Even the mission would now work, there is now players reporting missing savegames when using workshop. The resume button dont appear for them. That issue also started after the last official patch came out (issues with DEV too).

Edit: If playing in old manual way, there is no issues with savegames.

Even less people can open my WLA mission in workshop. I tried to reupload it again. This time when starting the mission it loads the menu background cutscene instead (with the white circle structures).

After latest DEV-patch I am getting dialog error with listboxes (ScrollBar), if that have some role with the issue. Still the mission launches outside of workshop.

Using non-Dev-game, reuploading, resubcriding didnt work. With non-Dev, the scrollbar issue is gone, but seems like that was unrelated issue.

If it matters my download region is set Sweden.

Someone posted this comment of the issue:
"every time I open ARMA 3 the mission don't start, I have to cancel the subscription, and then on again ...."

Seems like some can play, some need reseting, for me even that dosent help and there was some who's savegames dissapear. Outside workshop all work without problems.

To make workshop missions work you will need to delete files in Documents\Arma 3\[yourprofile]\Saved\steam

To add for my issue above, just tested the mission with friend (stable branch) and once I drove truck to light fence the game crashed instantly for him (he was in cargo) and his server.exe (rented server) crashed minute later. My game stayed up with lost connection to the server.

Edit: The vehicle was spawned in server side.

Sent one more dumps (arma3_2013-10-02_20-00-19), this time I hosted locally
(without server.exe). After fast travelling I saw AI team-mate dropping to ground, his parachute snipping very fast around. Once it hitted ground, game crashed.

Issue is improved, but not fully fixed it seems. For me server.exe still crashes, but game didnt so far (both on same machine), while testing my own COOP mission else working smooth and error free. Attached the dumps (arma3server_2013-10-02_18-24-29.7z).

Crashes often when using fast travel (shift+4), where whole team use locally spawned parachutes. Not crashing everytime, but very often.

Thanks, good to know. Will test also more if that was just more random rare crash. Before it crahes usually in 10 minutes after moving to defend random camp (after defend event triggering). AI team-member were dieing a lot and parachuteing back if it was related to that. 3 times I lost first audio from left side and then minute or two after that game always crashed.

Issue seems to be improved or even fixed. Havent yet tried to reupload with voice-files, but near 4mb mission upload and download works now without problems.

For me, removing sound/voice-files didnt help. Still the same issue with little over 3mb size mission (WLA).

Edit: Still broken with 2,3mb size, after cleaning away some unused pics and files.

Edit2: Could it get bugged if there folder(s) in the mission folder?

Now the download works for my Whole Lotta Altis mission too, after I removed some more unused scripts (including heavy captured vehicle path scripts) to get the size to 1,8mb. Still hope to see the filesize gap increased if it is set currently to 2mb.

With 1 setFog [0,0.1,0.1]; AI sees. The second parameters breaks the AI if 0?

With 1 setFog [0,0,0.1]; you get even more dramatic result. AI sees absolutely nothign.

Some players are reporting that setting virtual memory in windows may solve AI issues. For this AI vehicle issue, problems disapeared for me and most of players, when I ended using the old A2 spawnvehicle function. Using now my own script with the new createVehicleCrew-command creating the crew and havent spotted issues after that.

Issue started around the same time when UAV/UGVs were released. Some times also AI units may spot shooting, but that havent happened for me for sometime.

After changing the vest, rearming action appeared again. But still you can put anything in fatigues. So it seems that after resuming the dress, vest and maybe backpack may get totally broken (for player only), but could be replaced with gathered ones that again work good.

Got pass that by renaming the mission folder, not to have %20's and #'s in it. But seems like the fix wasnt yet there. But no hurry. :)
