Massive FPS-drop when shooting on CSAT vehicles

Description

I´ve captured the massive fps-issue (fps drop to 1) i have since 1 month (didnt matter if using mods or not) when shooting on vehicles, strange that only csat vehicles seem to inject this issue which cause the drop. Of course i get this drops too when the AI fires on the enemy vehicles. A vehicle mission becomes unplayable then.

So you can repro this in editor, or just with a custom mission?

Yes i use a custom mission called "whole Lotta Altis"

I was unable to reproduce this. It seems to be caused by given mission and we can't fix user made missions. Please report this issue to the author of the mission/mod, it must by fixed by him. Thanks

Shouldnt happen because of the mission, dont get the issue myself and there is no other players reporting it. ;) Had theory of fired eventhandler (that I have only for player, to detect when he throws smoke grenade, used the same script many years without issues) getting lauched too often when in vehicle gunner position, but couldnt reproduce that too. Mission else works between 60-35FPS.

Watched the vid - absolute no way its caused by my scripts - shooting CSAT AA-vehicle gives FPS hit, and the NATO vehicle dont. Nothing running for vehicles, except the vehicles maybe listed in array to later removal check.

As test, I placed Tigris in the Whole Lotta Altis and shot it with panther (as in the video). Working normally for me, even had the same blastcore and possible JSRS2 seen/heard in the vid.

Then maybe any other mods were involved, if the custom mission can be ruled out?

Back to my basic question to the OP: Can you place two (or even one) vehicles in editor and repro it that way?

I am not sure where the problem is, fact is that i generate an other mission with MCC on map Takistan with ~50enemy vehicles and there was no drop at all, Frames were constant at 70-80 with all the mods i run with WholeLottaAltis too. So the issue is not on my PC i think, but i am not sure. I will generate another mission and i upload a video then

I would recommend to wait for fixing of that issue and then check it again.

Google told me that "25mmSparks" particle effect is a part of the Blastcore mod. Try to disable Blastcore, then check that this error message is not present anymore and try to reproduce this issue without Blastcore. If you won't be able to reproduce this issue anymore, then it is probably caused by this mod. On the other hand, it doesn't seem that anyone else having similar issue. I would recommend to check if the mod is installed properly before contacting the author.

Without Blastcore the message is gone. But issue with dropping frames still present :(

So you tried this with vanilla eventually? Or still any other mods?

A couple of mods were active but nothing special like TPW and TMR i dont think there causing these issues. So should i run only with CBA?

Read my words: va-ni-lla! No CBA, no mods, no nothing. Always the first thing you should do, before hitting the "Report issue" button.

I have same problem

Repro with enter empty ZSU-39 Tigris on Stratis airport and shoot autocannon_35mm

75% drop in fps after 20 shots

No mods on Vanilla stable version

deanosbeano, that's a (fairly) different issue; you're generating quite some particle effects (mainly smoke) by firing the Tigris (or Cheetah) autocannon, but only if you fire into the ground in front of you. Not so, if you fire at some vehicle farther away, as shown in the video. And it certainly makes no difference if you shoot at a NATO or CSAT vehicle.

I will try today your suggestion with the va-ni-lla version so firendly how u said it...

APologies i read wrong , however for the record the FPS drops when shooting 200M Plus at ground with aforementioned turret .

Yeah, you´re right, was my fault. I usually start the game with a presetlauncher, switched all to off there but forgot the steam parmetrics. Sorry bout that. i ll do another run with all reset. Did you guys need a specific gamescene or vehicle which should perform that? I´ll test it like always on "Whole lotta Altis" (i really only play this Scenario) Tank should be easy to do.

Did you have still some own tweaks in the mission since these errors are unknown code for me? Or then these are from addons.

These drops are probably caused by that broken event handler mentioned by SaOk. It seems that this is not a part of the SaOk's mission (no one else reported this issue and even SaOk confirmed that it is not from his mission).

If that RPT log is really from the game without any mod, then I would recommend to reinstall the game (and delete manually all files in the folder S:\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3\). Right now there is still running something which is not a part of the vanilla game or SaOk's mission. Try the mission right after reinstall (before you install any mod), you shouldn't observe this issue. You can find out which mod caused it by installing all mods one by one and testing the issue.

Just like i said my friends, this log is without any single mod, so no CBA, or MCC, nothing is activated. Its a vanilla Log. Ok, i will recapitulate the situation with Saok, maybe i ll set a fresh windows, instead a fresh Arma3, i have the issue since End of January, i reinstalled Arma3 since the 2 times.

I have now Installed a fresh Windows 7Ultimate 64Bit, actually installing Arma3, i only will hope this will solve the issue, otherwise it will be short stayin on my SSD ^^

You need to remove the Arma 3 folder (where mods are stored) on your S drive (exact path is mentioned in my previous post) too. Be aware, that if you install Windows on different drive, it won't be automatically removed.

Works good now, i d made the whole fresh install, new SSD´s and a whole new Windows7Ultimate. Runs fine now :)
