what driver would you recommend?
my computer currently has directx 11
Yes, you can download drivers completely for free from manufacturers website.
I have a new laptop, and the GPU on it is a NVIDIA GeForce 940M.
I haven't used anything else, and it doesn't make sense that its not working if I was playing ARMA 3 last night perfectly fine.
can I update these online or do I need to purchase from a shop?
I may not have directx, I will have a look now
I'll reassign this to Adam, he will be able to help you with that error more that me.
thankyou
Hello, try updating your GPU and Integrated card (if you have one) drivers. Also install latest version of directx.
it has worked, but now when I click on play it comes up with a new window with a red 'X' saying:
"cannot create DX11 device:
Adapter (NVIDIA GeForce 940M ) Fullscreen Resolution 1366x768, format R8G8B8A8_UNORM, refresh 60 Hz Error DXGI_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED
last night I was playing ARMA 3 and everything was fine but now this is happening
and after I exited out of this window, another popped up saying:
"Arma 3 has quit in unsual manner. Info:
Exit code: 0x00000001/1
Time running: ~ 00:05:14.4

Hello,
as Rexon said, try repeatedly verify integrity of game cache. If Steam reports that it detected 1 or more missing files and repairs them, and the message is show again, an antivirus may be the cause as they tend to delete the game executable as it's downloaded.
// I'll remove the first post to make this thread shorter as it contains same content as an attached file
Well, go to Steam, right click on Arma 3 -> Properties -> Local Files -> and then check game files or something like this
Should be fixed after the next update. Please test it afterwards and let me know. Thank you!
In Arma3Update150RC - Thank you. Problem solved. The ticket can be closed.
Valve fixed some issues regarding performance drops during steam workshop downloads. Try downloading the newest Steam Beta update and see if that fixes the issue.
OK, problem comes from Steam interface.
Even if your parameters are set to "allow download during gameplay" unchecked (disabled), this interface is trying to download something after launching (and playing) a MP subscribed mission. Then, mission is downloaded, but Steam interface is now and definitely, tilting X time per second to "in queue" and "starting".
If you leave the MP mission, this inteface continues this false download.
You can stop, restart PC, windowns then Arma,... this interface still remembers the fact it's trying to download something.
This is a "workshop content", network at idle, disk also, 0 bytes/0 bytes but Arma is totally impacted as the game pauses on/off each seconds (video)
The only solution seems to be: quit Arma, launcher, then avoid anything to download thru Steam!
So, did you change something in Steam interface?
Is there a way to re-install steam without losing or reinstalling Arma?
It takes 15 hours for me when I reload Arma (without addon)!
Thanks, Steam beta resolved this bug. Please consider as closed.

Try removing deleteVehicle / waitUntil if you're using a clean-up at the end of the script.
Yes I'm using waitUntil with clean-up. Problem resolved. How do we check to see if the script completed without the vehicle being destroyed though? Be nice to have a clean up script at end of function.
Thank you for the resolution.
Yup. Not working on dev either.
Hi there. Are you using a waitUntil command at the end of the script to delete the vehicle?
It is, unfortunately.
The playback is working - but if the unit is destroyed, it is deleted and no damage model is left. Hopefully the kind devs will assign and fix soon, as it appeared with the 1.48 update.
Is this broken? :(
Not working on stable. Dunno about dev.
Can confirm. This isn't working: vehicle is vanishing into thin air. It worked before release.
This is a real problem, combined with random spoofed ip and random source its really hard to block. You should use a cache system. A 4mbps can down a 1gpgs server protected with ovh ddos pro protection.

I wasn't able to reproduce this issue. How exactly are you executing the code? Is it possible it's being executed globally?
I think I pasted the wrong code in here. If you use "setMarkerText" instead of "setMarkerTextLocal" it will turn the local marker into a global one. Sorry for that.
"setMarkerText" is global command, will instantly turn marker global. Not a bug.
My drivers stopped working for some reason. That's all.
Was it a hardware malfunction or software one (like did you 'just' re-installed the Windows, for example), if I may ask?
Ahhh, it's working now, fixed computer. Thanks for your help anyway.
My computer has now broke. I am currently fixing. If it doesn't work I will let you know
Hello,
could you please download and run yet another version: http://arma.jiripolasek.com/Files/Launcher_131549.zip and send me new logs?
I'm sorry to bother you with this, but at the moment you're the only one that experience this particular error and I can't pinpoint its source as it's not directly in our code (or at least it's wrapper in a thick layer of 3rd party code that I can go through).
It's fine. Uploaded the new logs. Every other game works fine except Arma...
Added Logs.rar
I can see that there's a change in the logs, this might help a bit.
I've got to go too, it's 0:25 on my clock atm. I'll continue in the investigations tomorrow.
At 11:30 i gotta go so i'll check in morning :-)
Please run the version 131548 and upload Launcher logs as described in http://arma.jiripolasek.com/howtos.html New logs may contain a clue about where this error comes from.
Ok, reinstalled .NET Framework, got normal launcher back. Still same error.
Was i susposed to override the Launcher into my Arma 3 root? Because i have done and i can't tell if it works or not...
You can run it from a folder where you unpack it, it doesn't matter if you put it in Arma 3 folder (but if you did, you can easily restore the original version of it by running verification of a game cache).
Another option you may try is to re-install Microsoft .NET Framework: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42643
Could you please run this version http://arma.jiripolasek.com/files/Launcher_131548.zip and upload Launcher logs (http://arma.jiripolasek.com/howtos.html) here?
I tried uninstalling it and doing that, but "another process" blocks it.
It's uninstalled now. It's because of ALaunch.exe was stopping it...
Does it help if you restart the computer?
That's me. Do you know why this is happening?
Hello,
I know it is you. That's why I added the link to our previous conversation.
Unfortunately I don't know what is the cause, yet. I've discovered a few known causes for this error on the internet and I'm trying to match them with our code.
I'm actually really annoyed. I've been trying to solve this since 2PM. Now it is 10:16 PM... All i want is to play Arma :D
Hi again Wizard, it's mws_xitwiterz :-)
Right. I think I've pinpointed the problem. I've had a chat to others and it seems the culprit is a waitUntil command that many people are using at the end of their unitPlay scripts.
Basically, this:
waitUntil {scriptDone _unitPlay};
{deleteVehicle _x;} forEach
crew _Aircraft;
deleteVehicle _Aircraft;
Before the 1.48 update, this would simply delete the aircraft / vehicle after the script had finished playing. If it was destroyed, then the aircraft / vehicle would not be deleted. However, if the script finished, it would be removed. Taking out 'waitUntil' section of the script worked for me! So, I think this ticket can be closed as 'no bug'.
Thank you, Moricky, for looking into that! The fact you couldn't repro helped isolate the issue, cheers! :)
Confirmed. I have taken away waitUntil command and now everything is working. Strange it was ok before.
Something is definitely wrong here, with this function. I can provide a repro if needed? Though IMHO the description on this ticket should be enough.
please fix!
Could you please prepare a repro mission? I tried it by destroying helicopter in first campaign mission, and it simply fell down to ground after being destroyed. The script terminated correctly.
This isn't working for me now either. Vehicles disappearing if I terminate the script.
Seems the function simply need tweaking - looks as though the object that the data is being played on is getting deleted when the script is prematurely finished.
Same here. Stopped working with 1.48 update I think.
I mean click PLAY button in Steam.
-nohwa parameter is solved a problem start Launcher, thanks! But, what does this parameter? I must run game with this parameter always now?
I understand. Thanks for solved problem!
-nohwa parameter will disable a hardware acceleration in a technology that Launcher uses to display it's window.
If you go to an options page and check the "Disable Launcher's UI hardware acceleration" ("Выключить аппаратное ускорение") check-box, it will be disabled automatically even without the parameter.
You may solve the error from the log by disabling the Launcher's hardware acceleration. Go to a Launcher options page (by using a gear button in the top right corner) and enable an option "Disable Launcher's UI hardware acceleration" ("Выключить аппаратное ускорение").
Hello,
is the creation of the log on desktop directly related to the PLAY button (like is a new log created every time you click on the PLAY button)?
Are you still unable to run the game after you disable BattlEye in Launcher? (In Launcher go to a BATTLEYE tab and uncheck a checkbox there.)
Yes, log creating on desktop every time I click on the PLAY.
I can't disable BE, and can't disable hardware acceleration, because I can't run Launcher at all.
Oh, sorry, I though that you mean PLAY button in Launcher O:)
Press and hold Ctrl+Shift when you click on the Play button in Steam (or add -nohwa parameter to Launch options in properties of Arma 3 in Steam Library).
