This has only happened to me when retrieving the gun from a shot up body, so I'm assuming the pistol is "ruined" and you don't know because the guns show no descriptions.
The issue seems to be that the clothing uses the "lying on the floor" model instead of the "on a character" model. It usually fixes itself though.
Pretty sure you can only put medical supplies in a medkit, not torches.
I've put bandages from a medkit in my quickbar and had it work fine though.
Can confirm, same thing happened to me today by accident.

Really badly written report with no steps to reproduce.
Probably related to http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=1797
I'm guessing you accidentally right-clicked, putting you in optics mode and unable to run.
The same thing happens with other clothing, such as shirts.
Usually I just either wait or un-equip and re-equip and it fixes itself.

It only makes you stop if you have the weapon raised before changing. If you lower it you keep walking/running as you switch.
The bug is on the changelog for the incoming update, so it should be fixed.
Confirmed. It's annoying because for some reason the pistol seems to get ruined (unable to fire) really, really easily and you can't check the condition.
Or just remove the commands completely... They shouldn't be there.
All 3 of these commands should definitely be high priority to remove, all the anti-hacking effort may as well be moot if people can just ruin other's experiences with simple commands.
The whole "I played at night with full gamma settings and at the next day, when I turned them down again, I was on almost zero blood" part makes this report extremely iffy, you didn't even see your blood go down so how could you possibly blame it on a single piece of clothing..? I have no idea how you even came to this conclusion.
Are you seriously shouting "IT'S ALPHA" on the *BUG TRACKER* of all places, Cobolt?
We know it's alpha, that's why we're reporting bugs to assist the developers.
There are multiple other building types that seem to *NEVER* have loot in them as well, such as the "log cabin" looking building and the green building that has stairs leading to the door.
The fact that the icon becomes greyed out makes it obvious this is a design choice, not a bug.
Same issue here, sometimes I'm sure I only pressed the key once but my character will pull out the item and then put it away again.
Not a priority but it is really silly to have a slider for FOV with no obvious minimum or maximum values and no way to tell what you currently have it set to.
I don't see why they can't turn it off when ArmA 3 has the option and it makes the game feel infinitely better than DayZ currently does.
Almost makes the game unplayable for me, I have to fiddle with the sensitivity and it's uncomfortable to use the mouse controls.
5 people in here reporting the bug and none of you can take a screenshot..?
