Geez I've done the test again, it seems that my ammo was worn, and maybe had damaged rounds within the worn stack, I really didn't checked it.

I believe they were Worn bullets, I'll try finding pristine ammo and recording again today if I have the time.
Though I'm seeing report from people on reddit that even pristine ammo give this results. (10~15 shoots, ruined gun.)

I can confirm this as infected spawned right in front of me as I approached a little town near Berezino.

Me too, yesterday my friend was put down by a distant shot, never heard it, then the guy proceeded to shoot me, missing his shots, all I could hear and see was the bullets hitting the ground around me as I ran away, I then managed to flank and found the guy, he was shooting an unsuppressed AK. I got the jump on him with my SKS, but since he was moving, I probably missed my shots even tho on target and died to him after landing one bullet to his chest. (at close range I heard all his shots.). Server was full by the way.
