cazboab added a comment to T69697: No firing option control for helicopters with pilot gun - X360 controller.

Using RT to fire and LT to aim is wrong for infantry too- they're both analogue inputs while fire and aim are digital actions that could be used on the bumpers freeing up the triggers for leaning which is analogue, in fact aim doesn't work properly on the trigger either it just gives you zoom on the cross hairs.

re-mapping is a colossal pain in the poop-chute cos you have to do everything from scratch.

I honestly can't see any valid reason to have the triggers as fire and aim when the bumpers are right there to do he job better.

cazboab added a comment to T63858: please remove the part of the loading screen saying: "this is war"..

I'm all for less time wasting splash screens, but the reasons given here are only political correctness with no value or grounding in reality, and since it wont actually speed up the game loading I don't see why they should remove the tagline.

cazboab added a comment to T62769: gameplay with xbox 360 pad.

I think the problem is were the default key bindings of the xbox pad are, LT and RT aren't actually buttons, they're analogue inputs , so when you ask them to do digital functions like that, things go wrong, also assigning LT/RT to aim and fire interferes with the functions in helicopters, since LT s pedal left, but RT is still fire, as that's a universal control, If the default is to assign LB and RB to aim and fire instead it would work as they're digital buttons rather than analogue. This also frees the triggers up to work as pedals on the helos, if you re-assign the throttle to the right stick up and down, it gives you much greater control over too- sure it might hurt the simulation slightly to control a littlebird like an R/C heli, but if you really wanted Sim you'd use a full flight suite, not an Xbox pad.

cazboab added a comment to T62719: [Feature request] Helicopter ground aiming (while hovering).

The real ones move as they fire, the guns are practically just bolted onto the sides, they have no turret, gimbals or movement of any kind independent of the direction the nose is pointing in, Its probably possible with years of experience to trim the main rotor in a manner that you can effectively hover in place, but the littlebird is not resistant to small arms fire, and is a pretty big target for any modern rifle, so I don't think you'd actually even want to stay still.

cazboab added a comment to T61907: Zeroing doesn't work.

The sights in used game- or at least the closest real world equivalent aren't any more difficult to adjust the zero on than the style of iron sights used in game- in fact they should be considerably easier given that the rear Iron sights are fixed elevation, meaning you'd adjust the zero for range by using a tool to raise and lower the front sight post.

cazboab added a comment to T60166: Mk200 Suppressor Spinning.

The suppressor on the opfor machinegun(mk200) spins round as it fires, a suppressed Blufor autorifle(MXSW) will be locked into semi automatic fire mode and any grenade launchers will play a suppressed shot sound when the rifle they're attached to is suppressed.

cazboab added a comment to T59307: Unable to customize XBOX 360 gamepad controls, default preset is unusable.

It might seem obvious to assign the right trigger to fire, but its also entirely the wrong thing to do.

When assigning the controls, I think its important to be aware of what functions are digital in the game and what are analogue, For instance firing and aiming are digital, so while the temptation is to use the triggers for it since guns have triggers, the bumpers make more sense in the hardware available, as on the triggers you can't hold breath, since the aim/zoom+hold breath key is a toggle, but the triggers are analogue, when you let go of the trigger, you stop aiming, cos the trigger sends a signal that its not being pushed. But the bumper is a simple button like a mouse key and if you use it you free the triggers for analogue functions like Leaning, throttle in ground vehicles/boats and the rudder on aircraft.

cazboab added a comment to T58924: Helicopter controls for native xbox 360 controller..

Its really just an issue with how the default controls are set up, using the triggers for aim and fire makes no sense since both of those are digital, this also means that you cant hold the aim button to steady the shot by holding breath, since you're already holding it to aim. using the bumpers to aim and fire would free the triggers up to assign them to functions that make more sense.
