I am still seeing this issue on our servers as well.
EDIT: Turns out steamcmd didn't update the hotfix for some strange reason. I had to run it 3 times to get it to grab it then it works as before.
In summation, the latest hotfix works with the expected password.
1.42 hotfix did not work for our hosted servers.
1.42 Hotfix fixed it for me.
The server log still shows weird IPs when admin logs in, but the password is accepted.
Thanks
Hello, I am having this issue and my password is about 12 characters long. I am running this on windows/gameserver using vilayer - I am pretty sure the recent hotfix broke it.
Were having the same issue on our dedicated server boxes. 5 letter passwords was working but today our password wouldn't work and had to reset it again to another 5 letter password.
Same here with any lenght password. Can't login, server says wrong password entered from private IP address (192.168.x.x).
I want to note that the recent update (Hotfix 1.42) fixed the issue for me once I set it back to the original password longer than 5 characters.
We were getting the same thing. There was a patch released Thursday that addressed it. Ran steamcmd to update the server (had to run it a couple of times - running it once didn't resolve the problem, running it a second time said that the server was already up to date but it did remove a couple of queued files). After making sure server was up to date and that Steam had downloaded the update to the game, the original password worked again.
EXE version 1.42.130.340
Same for me, cannot login as admin with #login nothing happens, i do not know if it is your arma update to 1.42 or if the server was hacked? but very strange i have two different dedicated servers with same issue. I tried changing passwords with no succes.
Is there a solution ?
I have been experiencing this same issue since the last patch. I am running on a WinServer 2012R2 box.
I have tried to replicate the same error on a Windows box, but it seems to be logging in fine on my Windows Arma3 server. Not sure if that's because it's on LAN though.
Going to have to confirm this too...
As of the 1.42 Hotpatch, I'm unable to use #login with any length password, all passwords are entered correctly as well.

Can confirm, cannot #login. Server is a Linux box, using same password as found in server.cfg.
Tried restarting/verifying game cache and eventually re-installing the game to a new hard drive but no cigar.
Friend who hasn't updated Arma3 yet to the newest update is able to login fine.
Also tried changing the password, before it was "n00b" now I changed it to "nooblet".

Thanks Neo, this has been a huge help. Our QA Lead is sending you his regards :)
Just an FYI. I can confirm that I am also running Win2008 server and having this issue.
Hello, could you please attach your server config file and server .rpt file? Thank you.
On further investiagation: Looks like the only password that does not work, is the password we used before the update. Caching issue?
+1 on this. Experiencing everything down to the 5-letter-password working fix and I'd rather have a more secure password back.
I attached a fresh rpt (with a failed #login attempt) and the corresponding server config and server log.
I also noticed that the word "password" and a 7-letter password only containing the characters a,b,c,1,2,3,4 also works. So it may not only be a problem with the length, but also the characters in a password.
And BTW: The server is a Win2008 dedicated server. Just saying because Joris wrote in the Spotrep that they know about the password issue with linux servers.
I had the exact issue and setting the admin password to 5 letters or less worked fine. Despite this I see this as a workaround not a solution as 5 letters is laughably insecure as a password.
i can confirm this bug. with my 8 letter lower case adminpassword i can't login. Serverconsole shows "Wrong admin password entered"
@InAUGral there is brute force protection in place after a few unsuccessful attempts there comes cooldown during which all input is ignored
Strange experience on our server. 2 server running in the same environnement but with differents executable.
First one work like charm when trying to log in as admin with #login
Second refuse any Password.
Try to change the second Password admin like the first one... And it works...
Functionnal password have 5 letters (all minuscule)
non functionnal server has a password with 8 letters....
Ours has 7 letters. Will try with 5 later today.
Edit: 5 letter password works
:D
I can confirm that 5 letter password works xD
we need to know your IP (local, external) if you have multiple NIC on the client
same goes for the server
plus ideally to know whole route via tracert command
please post this information as private reply
I can confirm this bug. I cannot log in to my server with the admin password.
- We had Battleye disabled while testing (passworded server).
- It's definitly not a problem with one single client as multiple people (different IP) tried to log in and everyone got refused.
- My IP and the whole tracert changed since yesterday ;)
And the IP the server shows for the player with the wrong password is indeed the local home network IP if the players adapter.
in meantime as workaround use BattlEye RCON
I can confirm this, the dedicated server states the following in the rpt log:
23:29:00 Wrong admin password entered by player: SINE, playerUID: <censored>, IP: <censored>:2304.
Interestingly, the logged IP is not mine and also not the server's (on the local net).
oh... yeah it is
that's weird... the server is remote
looks like it is your ip on home network
Closing, If the issue persists please create a new ticket with Repro and more information. Thanks.
This needs to be resolved ASAP, Multiple servers are having the same issue.
Fix your game stop blame the mod it is the same on altis
Stop dlc
The S3K Wasteland server is having the same issues ever since the 1.42 patch. We typically run with 100 players on Stratis, and our bandwidth usage ranged from 15-25mbps, our CPU usage was about 10-20%.
Since update... Approximately 1-2 hours after a restart we get a spike in CPU and Bandwidth. The CPU goes to 30-100% usage and the bandwidth jumps to 40-50mbps. The error log is spammed with "Server: Network message f8817a1 is pending". It comes in waves, initially it seems to subside after 10 minutes, but every time it happens it gets worse and lasts longer until restart.
For example last night the error started at 22:58:42, and by 23:04:15 it had written that error message to the logs 219529 times. That's less than 6 minutes and makes up about 50% of the log file and the instance had been running for 5 hours at that point. Earlier in the log file there are shorter bursts of the error which seems to start about 1-2 hours after restart.
Please resolve asap.
Unfortunatly not completely solved in perf2.
Server doesn't seem to crash yet on 70 players. But fps still drops and bandwith is still high.
This is on:
MinErrorToSend = 0.0015;
MinErrorToSendNear = 0.015;
Can we please have an update ?
I have several servers crashing multiple times a day since 1.42! this needs a urgent hotfix!!!
Had same problems with servers choking when running Breaking Point Mod also.
I am having the exact same issue. No mods other than EXTDB.
Server runs fine, 40+ FPS for all users, then starts to drop a little... then hammers down to 1-3 fps for all players on the server. Works fine until update.
Having the same Issue running A3 wasteland and extdb. this is not an A3 wasteland issue this is a BIS broke something within the last update issue.
Same issue here, 70+ players running Altis Life, crashes a few times a day, server networking rockets then drops all the way down to around 2MB-10MB. Causing alot of lag for players playing, as there is no way that the server can send the amount of data needed to keep a smooth experience. When it drops back to normal, everything recovers and becomes better again. Until the issue happens once again. This is really hurting large servers and needs to be resolved as soon as possible, as players and hosts are really having issues.
Why is this still on need more info? How much more info do you need?
So changing the following settings in basic.cfg seems to make the bandwith usage a bit better, but is still not good. This never happened before 1.42:
MinErrorToSend = 0.001;
MinErrorToSendNear = 0.01;
to
MinErrorToSendNear=0.029999999;
MinErrorToSend=0.003;
This is how it was before (top 2):

This is the result:

There is definatly something wrong here.
In the next picture the top two are my main server on extDB and the bottom two are my test server on ProfileNamespace saving. Seeing the amount of players * the bandwith usage would give the same amount as the top one.
http://i.imgur.com/u5M5YCu.png
And this is my second server on extDB2:
http://i.imgur.com/wm76s9t.png
Seeing the same massive increase in bandwidth when I hit 70+ players running EpochMod, crashes a couple of times a day with syswow kernel as fault, hit 70 players, ping increases to over 1000 m/s, server cpu usage starts fluctuating between 10 and 60%, player count then drops <70 and server returns to normal
Do you have enough information now? My servers keep becoming unplayable...
I've changed the player slots on my servers. On one from 70 to 50 and on the other from 50 to 40. This seems to hold em steady but it's not like it should be. Bandwith stil goes bananas.
And there goes the performance without any mods:
http://i.imgur.com/KqRMzsL.png
Added #captureFrame logs (with profiling branch) from both servers including ASM screenshots from the same time in logs3.7z.
Running without any entry in basic.cfg makes no difference:

Running without client side mods makes no difference:
http://i.imgur.com/akg8v1a.png
Bandwith shoots through the roof when player amount rises until it reaches a choke point and the bandwith drops down and takes FPS/CPS with it.
Bandwith usage used to be around 10-15mbit but goes up to as high as 30-40mbit just 25 minutes after a restart:

Server RPT logs shows nothing significant.
You are running mods which could be the source of your issues. Please try reproducing the issue on unmodded version of the game and if the server crashes attach crashdumps found in C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\Arma 3\
(crashdump is rpt + bidmp + mdmp file with same name).
Or do you mean the client side mods which the server loads the bikeys for? e.g. CBA, JSRS & Blastcore?
Could you point me to which mods? As I'm sure I don't run any.
Yes, the client side mods. Thank you.
Also server bandwith usage is through the roof. More then doubled from before the update. Usually had around 10-15Mbit upstream, it's now up to 30Mbit.
Added more logs from both servers.
It seems that both my servers are having network issues since 1.42. This did never happen before this update. Both servers are on different internet connections, have different hardware, different os etc.
whats wrong with free usermade ghillies in free user made mods?
@tecaki
There are ghillie suits in ArmA 3. If you want to use the new Marksmen DLC ghillie suits, you have to buy the DLC or open the Virtual Arsenal/Garage and dress yourself up.
You have ghillies, if you want cool shizzle buy the DLC bundle.
Have been scheduled for a fix.
Yes We just have to cross the fingers because Adam is fast at marking "resolved" if posts are "duplicated".
Are they? Posts, not really, solution perhaps!
Just hope, the problem will be taken in its WHOLE ASPECTS:
- Adjust stance button for someones;
- disabled inputAction for others.
And the only Adam's message here is not comforting so far!
Still NOT resolved! Even after creating a new profile and even trying to input it via the arma 3 profile the key Adjust isn't working,
@ Koala; The Problem occured after the DLC marksman not before
only way 4 me to use the adjust stance now is D-pad and that screws up the gaming now ( only because i used d-pad for other stuff.)
This issue is fixed now. Try creating new profile and reproducing the issue again. Thank you.
Dear stoney-dsp, have you tried to use the search function?
That is an already known issue: #0022872 and #0023450
Sorry but NOT resolved.
inputAction "Adjust" remains no more available, what new profile and standard preset controls you choose (arma3 or arma3 alternative)!
No addons, just test in debug console.
So, if you consider my ticket duplicated, you should do something for this function. All addons scripted with "adjust" inputaction doesn't work properly anymore!
If you want to refund our product please head over here http://support.bistudio.com
I cannot help you with that matter
Thank you
Can i get my money back or not?
@ofice u might gonna need to format your pc like wat im gonna do because i have the same issue
@SidestepsPvP Yeah good luck with that, I've tried reformatting twice and every other suggestion out there. Problem still remains.
Ah well at least we have our official answer now which is basically: "You're on your own"
The 344.75 didn't help.Same crash same issue value.
thank you for your report and files. It seems that your problem is that DirectX crashes. This may be from various reasons, such as outdated DirectX, outdated drivers, overclocked CPU or GPU [by manufacturer or user] and many more.
Sadly, there is nothing that can be done from our side. I linked this problem to bug number #0000579, where you can read useful tips in comments. Also, please check out the forums page for another useful tips:
http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?147598-Endless-DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED-Crashes
Sorry for the inconvenience, have a nice day.
The File is uploaded
Try the 344.75 drivers, they were the only ones to stop my crashes.
edit: Spoke too soon, still same crashes as before.
Hello,
Thank you for reporting the issue.
We need crash dump files from this folder to analyze your problem.
C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\Arma 3\
Can you upload somewhere in winrar package, please?
Archive smaller than 5000 KB can be attached directly to the ticket. For bigger archives, please use some free sharing service and post link here.
How to find correct crashdump file:
Try to make the crash happen
Look into crashdump folder
Upload crashdump with latest date in name (crashdump is rpt + bidmp + mdmp file with same name). Please try to provide as many crashdumps as possible, it helps us investigating the problem in a big way.
Thank you.
I can confirm this is happening with more than just the Marksmen weapons. I noticed it with the MX SW too.
