I am still seeing this issue on our servers as well.

EDIT: Turns out steamcmd didn't update the hotfix for some strange reason. I had to run it 3 times to get it to grab it then it works as before.

In summation, the latest hotfix works with the expected password.

We were getting the same thing. There was a patch released Thursday that addressed it. Ran steamcmd to update the server (had to run it a couple of times - running it once didn't resolve the problem, running it a second time said that the server was already up to date but it did remove a couple of queued files). After making sure server was up to date and that Steam had downloaded the update to the game, the original password worked again.

Same for me, cannot login as admin with #login nothing happens, i do not know if it is your arma update to 1.42 or if the server was hacked? but very strange i have two different dedicated servers with same issue. I tried changing passwords with no succes.

Is there a solution ?

Can confirm, cannot #login. Server is a Linux box, using same password as found in server.cfg.

Tried restarting/verifying game cache and eventually re-installing the game to a new hard drive but no cigar.

Friend who hasn't updated Arma3 yet to the newest update is able to login fine.
Also tried changing the password, before it was "n00b" now I changed it to "nooblet".

I attached a fresh rpt (with a failed #login attempt) and the corresponding server config and server log.

I also noticed that the word "password" and a 7-letter password only containing the characters a,b,c,1,2,3,4 also works. So it may not only be a problem with the length, but also the characters in a password.

And BTW: The server is a Win2008 dedicated server. Just saying because Joris wrote in the Spotrep that they know about the password issue with linux servers.

  1. We had Battleye disabled while testing (passworded server).
  2. It's definitly not a problem with one single client as multiple people (different IP) tried to log in and everyone got refused.
  3. My IP and the whole tracert changed since yesterday ;)

And the IP the server shows for the player with the wrong password is indeed the local home network IP if the players adapter.

Centrifugal added a comment to T81960: Insane bandwith usage / Server chokes.

The S3K Wasteland server is having the same issues ever since the 1.42 patch. We typically run with 100 players on Stratis, and our bandwidth usage ranged from 15-25mbps, our CPU usage was about 10-20%.

Since update... Approximately 1-2 hours after a restart we get a spike in CPU and Bandwidth. The CPU goes to 30-100% usage and the bandwidth jumps to 40-50mbps. The error log is spammed with "Server: Network message f8817a1 is pending". It comes in waves, initially it seems to subside after 10 minutes, but every time it happens it gets worse and lasts longer until restart.

For example last night the error started at 22:58:42, and by 23:04:15 it had written that error message to the logs 219529 times. That's less than 6 minutes and makes up about 50% of the log file and the instance had been running for 5 hours at that point. Earlier in the log file there are shorter bursts of the error which seems to start about 1-2 hours after restart.

Please resolve asap.

Same issue here, 70+ players running Altis Life, crashes a few times a day, server networking rockets then drops all the way down to around 2MB-10MB. Causing alot of lag for players playing, as there is no way that the server can send the amount of data needed to keep a smooth experience. When it drops back to normal, everything recovers and becomes better again. Until the issue happens once again. This is really hurting large servers and needs to be resolved as soon as possible, as players and hosts are really having issues.

Bandwith shoots through the roof when player amount rises until it reaches a choke point and the bandwith drops down and takes FPS/CPS with it.

@SidestepsPvP Yeah good luck with that, I've tried reformatting twice and every other suggestion out there. Problem still remains.

Ah well at least we have our official answer now which is basically: "You're on your own"

thank you for your report and files. It seems that your problem is that DirectX crashes. This may be from various reasons, such as outdated DirectX, outdated drivers, overclocked CPU or GPU [by manufacturer or user] and many more.

Sadly, there is nothing that can be done from our side. I linked this problem to bug number #0000579, where you can read useful tips in comments. Also, please check out the forums page for another useful tips:

Sorry for the inconvenience, have a nice day.

Try the 344.75 drivers, they were the only ones to stop my crashes.

edit: Spoke too soon, still same crashes as before.

Hello,
Thank you for reporting the issue.
We need crash dump files from this folder to analyze your problem.
C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\Arma 3\
Can you upload somewhere in winrar package, please?
Archive smaller than 5000 KB can be attached directly to the ticket. For bigger archives, please use some free sharing service and post link here.

How to find correct crashdump file:
Try to make the crash happen
Look into crashdump folder
Upload crashdump with latest date in name (crashdump is rpt + bidmp + mdmp file with same name). Please try to provide as many crashdumps as possible, it helps us investigating the problem in a big way.

Thank you.

I can confirm this is happening with more than just the Marksmen weapons. I noticed it with the MX SW too.
