But, again, look at Ghost Recon Future Soldier: Weapon customization on YouTube :)
+1, regardless of the quality of the game itself (matter of taste), the weapon customization there is the best of current FPS games.
As you can see - there is 5 ways to kill, knife is only one of them, and the most rarely.
There are 3 ways to hammer a nail:
1.Using hammer
2.Using microscope
3.Using a freshly bought TV
As you can see, there is 3 ways to hammer a nail, a hammer is only one of them and the rarest one, why does everyone has a stereotype of using a hammer to hammer nails?..
Sorry, couldn't resist.
In any case, given the rarity of conditions to perform it, sneak kills may well be done as scripted animations, provided:
- target does not know about you (knowsAbout)
- target is in "safe"/"careless" stance (AI behaviour/player stance) with weapon lowered
This certainly wouldn't make ArmA "CoDish".
Silent kill? Are you kidding me?The knife wound are bloody.Strag neck will be way effective in this case.
I've left this note in the "silent kills" topic in the forums, and repeating it here:
Any brawl sound is LESS noisy than firing a suppressed weapon. "Silenced" weapons are actually producing peak sound pressure higher than that of a heavy tractor diesel starting up. Hence, any melee takedown (unless the target calls the attack over the radio) is preferable to shooting even a small-caliber "silenced" pistol. Hence, comparing to a "silenced" weapon shot, such takedown would be absolutely "silent".
The thing itself is perfectly real. How to properly implement it, however - is another question. Of course we don't want CoD-style melee - but that doesn't mean such an option should be thrown out without consideration. After all, SEAL-style diving missions are even rarer stuff IRL than melee combat...
In my opinion, current implementation isn't a good substitute. I think old 2D scopes would work better, until/unless proper PiP scopes would be implemented.
Ticket to revert to old sights system: #17275
Still an issue. Easily seen in multiplayer when a person is writing something in chat - he'll jerk back and forth (left/right lean).
This ticket made it into Top 3 most downvoted on the tracker :)
Don't like the crosshairs - turn it off. There's a difficulty option for it. Any crosshair is unrealistic - it's a game simplification. The new one is much more convenient.
And, as for CoD reference... Really, it comes down to ridculous levels. Soon we'll be getting tickets "I don't shoot weapons in real life, remove it from the game"
Smoke grenades AFAIK usually contain an oxidizer mixed with the "fuel" (like KClO3, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potassium_chlorate), so they can possibly continue to burn underwater (ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoke_Grenade)
You don't understand, it's future technology/it's an alpha/it's not CoD :D:P
Awesome bug & good find.
