This was the case in the Mod as well. It seems that when you have a broken leg you crawl everywhere, and it won't let you use other movement animations, this includes swimming. There is no drowning mechanic because you are not supposed to be able to submerge.
I can confirm that I have had "Stuffed" "Energized" "Healing" and "Healthy" For the last 4 hours or so. I have eaten and drunk a little in that time, but my thirst dropped all the way to "Thirsty"...
The problem here is not that the adjustment exists, it's that it has been poorly implemented. When you look at the ground irl it does not appear to glow.
This is not the case form me with my TrackIR 4, it may just be coincidental.
This is a particular problem for things like medical kits or protective cases where the most practical way to access them is often to drop them.
For some more data, when you select 'clean wounds', you perform the animation then get the "My wounds look cleaner now" message. At this point you become sick. This message repeats every 5 minutes until it has done so approximately 5 times(I lost count) when you get a green "My wounds are clean now" and the sick status is removed.
You will also get this when opening a door behind you, or around a corner. The icon is displaying for a door other than the one you are looking at and that door is indeed opening and closing.
I can confirm that I experienced this bug with a low population/low ping server. I also waited 2 minutes to see if they would come back, and they did not.
I had this issue to begin with but as people dropped off the server, it happened less and less. Lag would appear to be the culprit here.
