Great! Thanks!
Yeah, a minimap would be great. One of the most needed things for the game. Switching back to control center to see the maps is really annoying.
Same here. I also could only finish the mission by using the robotic arm to push up the lander a few centimeters.
After doing some more missions in Gale and Victoria Crater, I came back to Kaiser today with a new, large rover, doing more missions. Then I checked the Beagle crash site again, and voilá...the main body is there. I uploaded a new screenshot 2013-08-16_00003.jpg
Upload of my savegame wasn't possible. I uploaded it here: http://typhoon-music.com/savegame.zip
I started a new game with the main build, a week ago. Then I switched to the dev build EA - 0.8.0172 - with the missing Beagle parts. Now I have 0.8.0174 and everything is fine. I can see the Beagle, but I can't play the mission again, since it's already done. But I will start a new game sometime and try again.
The EAS has only 10 uses. If my rover has more than one, it can do alot more scans ;)
Oh, lol...that's interesting. Something must be broken! But the mission is possible, I just finished it. Will upload a savegame later!
Awesome! You guys are doing great work.
Well, cameras can't be used in the landing anymore (only landing camera). But the issue still exists. I uploaded a screenshot from a medium rover with solar panels that clip thought the hull of the landing pod. It's very disturbing and I think this should be resolved sooner than later.
I hope the devs make this a very low priority. Maybe finish the game first, before changing this.
I can confirm this, happened to me several times after game exit and restart. After several tries to quit the game and start it up again, it was suddenly gone.
It's personal preference. I don't have any issues with music popping up all of a sudden, and I wish the devs would fix some other, more critical issues, before looking at how and when the music is played. They can do that after the game is officially released.
Ok I get it, I finished a specific mission now and advanced to level 8. I won't spoil it for everyone but it has to do with one of the steam achievements. You get that one, and you'll get to level 8. So it only depends on yourself to do the right mission. It is mildly annoying, so I welcome any change to this mechanic. But I agree, you guys are good, and you'll find a better way.
I got to lvl 7 pretty quick, but at the moment I'm working hard for hours and hours and still haven't reached lvl 8. I really want to know how long I'll have to take measurements and photos of rocks until I'm there.
And what do you mean by "tied to specific mission", Rudy? It doesn't make sense at all. Do you mean we can only level up when we did a specific mission? That would be really the opposite of what everyone expects from this game.
Edit by dev:As for Tech 7 goes, it is main level for medium rover so unfortunately you will have to stick with it almost until the end Kaiser.
If you want immersion, then play as intended. The camera is mounted on the backside with a purpose, being that the front wheels do not stick out as much as the back wheels, so you can drive closer to rocks with your front mounted instrument. It's a simple technical reason why it is as it is. Deal with it.
If it's too confusing, you can always switch the controls in the options to the opposite directions.
I understand your concerns, but in the early phase of the space program in this game, you only get to pilot small rovers. They can't carry alot of cameras around and they have very limited space for instruments.
It's perfectly plausible to have no camera on the front. You just have to navigate while driving backwards. When planning to scan a rock, you have to turn around and drive blindly. If you would be a good scientist, you won't just do it on the fly, there is some planning included. Scientist don't pilot expensive machinery around rocks without knowing what to do. Use a pencil sharpener and a potato on your desk to plan ahead. The sharpener is your rover and the potato is the rock. Move the sharpener around a bit and make a PLAN. Then transfer the plan into the game. This is how a real pro would do it. Go ahead and become a pro yourself today!
It's possible from a different angle. After failing to complete the mission, I drove the rover around the rock to close in from another angle, still not completing the mission. Then I tried a third angle and it worked.
Edit: Maybe I should make clear, that I had the 'READY' message in each of the three scans, and didn't move at all while it was doing the 'radiating' thing. So it should properly work. However, the placeholder results pops up, but the task will NOT be completed. I played this particular mission several times now and never had any issues again. Even though when trying an angle that didn't work in an earlier attempt. But I still believe it's bugged.
Works without problems in any mode.

This should be lowest priority.
This should not be too hard to fix, I think. Because the quickbar becomes invisible when not using a hotkey for a minute, but everytime you press a hotkey number, the quickbar will pop back up. So the game recognizes that the player is pressing a button. But the selected item will not be activated, at least not in 2 out of 3 tries. The game responds, and really quick too, so where is the problem?
It's quite funny how the quickbar fades away after not pressing the quickbuttons for a while, but then, when you press any number key, it will appear again. Just not pulling out the item you were pressing the corresponding key for. So, it actually registers that the user pressed a key, it's just not doing anything (other than making the quickbar appear).
