It is very hard to get the lander to land to the exactly correct spot for this task to work because the low right corner cross won't turn green as it's blocked by the terrain.

Goto Kaiser Crater and launch a vehicle into Dune Gullies mission.

After countless tries on countless landing positions (for some reason this mission also wants to botch the landing way way more often any other played this far) I was finally able to complete this but only because I drove the robot arm into the ground and was able to lift the lander with it just enough to be able to snap the photo..

Same here. I also could only finish the mission by using the robotic arm to push up the lander a few centimeters.

Hmm, that happened to me, too. And dunes inside craters blocked the view for me on at least one more occasion in Kaiser Crater.
I simply drove a rover to that site and finished the job. I thought the tricky placement of the marks was intended for it might be a nice feature when the user later will be able to steer and land manually.
