xHeavy added a comment to T63824: Game Multiplayer crash, with game crash dialog copied and pasted here..

This is a thread after I was taught how to harvest crash data from both the not responding dia box and also the good old event viewer directly from ARMA3 data.

I have learned to post both after each crash, so over time this living document may reveal consistent.

I have three GTX 680's aboard with the third card dedicated to PhysX.

I usually have the program run with a additional argument to use 8192 (8 Gb ) of ram in addition to 4 cores, process priority high etc. I have 32 gb on hand with 64 going into my new build as I type this.

xHeavy added a comment to T61229: [Feature request] Ability to force the game to load in "safe" mode (force disabled mods).

There are some of us who like to run the game strictly "Stock" Now, I did enjoy POE Mod very much among others in the two decades I've gamed online.

I've learned with Arma, Arma II and expansions to simply avoid mods.

I would like Arma 3 to have a single global option check box to permit the Player to have a choice of stock, no mods and modified (And a selection of mods...)

This might clean up the server browser.

THIS WILL ensure that most players given a choice, to choose stock content and not get thrown out because they are also joining a stock server.

I was active in JO, and consider myself the father (I was Heavy552 of various clans in that game series) of the "Stryker Drop" which was simply to load a fully manned Stryker (Or BTR) into the Chinook (Or Halo) and using voice comms with both the driver of the Stryker and the passengers in the chinook, 8 and 8 respectively if I remember.

Flying past the enemy base at 10 AGL, on command, the driver will back out of the chinook, land while driving at full throttle and then charge the enemy base while the rest of the passengers air dropped during evasion and escape. That way we did not get shot up trying to get everyone into a enemy base.

Eventually Novalogic installed a computer rubber band that prevented strykers from being loaded. But you could load a number of nasty go carts filled with all kinds of soldiers ready to tear an enemy apart. I was able to visit a Chinook at our Air Show in Jax-Ville Arkansas and understood that it was just a little shorter than a man could walk in.

The Russian Halo in the game, multiplayer presented a problem. Latency. I had 65 People aboard one time and lost about 10 due to lag. I landed halfway to the enemy base when I realized what a lucky RPG could do to the very happy enemy scorer ready to see a 55-0 ratio... Yea, you can carry alot, but you need escort, supporting arms and other combined action to occupy the enemy.

Even today, I would be willing to deliver 60-100 People into battle but there is just simply too wide a variety of Peoples. Young impatient kids emptying the ammos, (While revealing the entire package to the enemy.) younger adults trying to kill enemy tanks and such from the rear ramp and the older ones well... the mix is volatile.

To the rest of you in ARMA3, I spent time looking over ARMA2 with the airfield. It had many vehicles, all of which can be manned (And should) and driven out in convoy to engage the enemy to complete the objective. But unfortuantely.. all I saw was groups of players gathering to the black hawk, getting flown into a enemy AO without any benefit of air strikes, artillery etc and respawning to repeat the experience.

Why?

The target AO are sometimes 12000 Km from base and the people did not want to spent 20 minutes on a road march to the AO. If there is to be realism, I want to play with players who will organize all of this combat power, man them and road march to the AO.

You wont find that realism from younger people accustomed to arcade games.

Back in Joint operations which was then a pretty good simulation with vehicles, we had infantry able to fight, pull security or what ever else was necessary. I recall climbing out of the rear hatch with a stinger on the move to shoot down a little bird harrasing us.

If it can be done then, it can certinaly be added here. Those folks who think in terms of BF3 OP etc... need to understand that this is a SIMULATION. to react to armor with infantry around or inside it is a very serious situation in a simulation. In BF3 any number of weapons could remove the whole thing easily.

This is a feature that should be implemented in ARMA three.

xHeavy added a comment to T60074: Low CPU Usage - Bad FPS.

Use the target for your shortcut to ARMA 3 and make a space at the end past the " and type:

-cpucount=4 Or 2 or 6 core CPU.

Arma3 has been programmed to run using just one core regardless of how many you have in your machine.

I quit using single core processors pernamently 3 years ago.

Oh, one more thing. Cities and towns really drag on the FPS. I suspect the majority of the fighting in the game world will occur as people stay on the edges and ambush those who are not doing well in the urban.

xHeavy added a comment to T59908: Terrible SLI Performance.

I run THREE MSI GTX 680's 4gb/ in SLI. Third card is dedicated to Phys-x (Over kill I know, have a 4th on the way)

I allow the game to run on all the cores, set the CPU priority to high and use Fraps to get an idea of my frames per sec.

At the moment I am 20'sh to 50's in the menus of different kinds.

I can get up into the 120's (Vsync is on, I don't need it unlocked.. lolz) and am running a BenQ 120 hertz monitor that automatically lightens up dark rooms as you enter.

I have seen my monster computer brought to it's knees and that is one of the reasons I build em strong. It will game well or not at all.

Course you can get a 1000 dollar PC built to RUN a game, but when you put away such childish things and start building manly computers like a adult, you will learn what works and what does not.

This is a Alpha. Later comes the Beta. I EXPECT problems and report them as I hit them.

I hope the day they release retail as complete for the world, I would hope that days, weeks if not months go by without the bugs, tweaks or other things that are reported on and fixed.

xHeavy added a comment to T59792: Cars roll / tip over too easily.

I had a player in a ATV attempt to roll me and my heavy vehicle.

He almost did too. Had me on two wheels before I entered the necessary steering correction and got off him.

Really a 600 pound man+ATV combination should not tip a 6 ton vehicle. I used to drive 8 ton tractors when not pulling a trailer over the road and it simply isnt going to happen.

It would be better if I did not have to set the controls. The Logitech 3D extreme is a fine stick and it's so many millions in the world now. The game really should provide support for these devices.

xHeavy added a comment to T58667: General low fps, on autodetect settings.

54 frames a second average multiplayer. Ultra settings. This is while walking, shooting at enemy etc. Tops out at 60 and dips into 40's

I understand my framerate as reported by Fraps full version to change according to game situation. 120 frames second in menu (BenQ 120 hertz) to a few while loading to game which is normal.

3 MSI 680 4gb in SLI
i7 3770k 4.2 gig (Temp runs 40C playing this game under water cooling)
32 Gb Trident 2400 RAM.

It has been my overall experience after 15 years beta, gaming etc that ATI Cards will be somewhat late in patching to run well to those who have them. I use Nvida now for that reason.

Flawwoo Your specs is identical to mine, I just have more cards, RAM and somewhat faster clock on the same CPU. And it is interesting to see your results close to mine... Hmm...
