This is a known issue, it's in the patch notes.
I'm actually starting to agree with this more and more. I climbed a ladder at the airfield (back towards the military tents, that two story lookout-tower type of thing). and a zombie, which spawned out of an area I had already cleared, ran towards me. There was no way I was going to make it down the ladder without getting hurt bad, or dying, so I decided to shoot the zombie. Next thing I know, 5 or 6 zombies are headed straight for me, from places I had already cleared. It definitely needs some balancing out. I don't think zombies should be spawning in places that have been cleared - even if you do fire a loud gun. I also think zombies should be aggroed by the noise instead of the player; meaning they head towards the noise, but not necessarily the player. So, if you move in time - you can avoid the approaching zombies. I had a player do this to me the other day, he would fire to draw me closer and he would wait to see if I went to where he fired. I did and he killed me. It just makes more logical sense and I think it would increase overall gameplay.
I also had a similar issue. I bandaged myself, pulled out my axe to attack another zombie and was unable to attack after; however, After about a minute my legs became broken when I wasn't under any visible attack.. So I'm thinking the status of my legs may have been what glitched me and made me unable to attack.
edit: this has happened to me in the past under similar circumstances ( and my friends), which is why I felt compelled to share.
edit: I actually think this issue is lag related, as I viewed my ping and it was in the upper 400's
Decided to vote this up, I had just found pristine military pants, had a protector case (worn) and a magazine(pristine) in them; then I got hit by a zombie, it didn't do much damage to my character, but ruined everything waist down. I don't think this is intentional, it appears to be a bug.
Edit: after I logged off and on, I saw that my pants were badly damaged and only the protector case had switched to ruined. Still a lot of damage for one hit from a zombie.
(7)th crash. This time was after a server switched, one server went down so I switched to a different server. It wasn't able to connect to the central and right after I got that message, I got a CTD
sounds like a good idea. I got the update. I was playing just now - going south from the airfield in the west; I made it past the military base but after awhile, I experienced another ctd. I can play for a long period of time at certain locations it seems, but whenever I go to travel I crash. (6th crash)
5th crash since I started reporting. This time I wasn't on long and wasn't traveling far, updated anyway. I was traveling west from the devil's castle to the airfield. I'm not sure if I should continue to update after crashing or not? I don't want this to be classified as spam, lol.
Third reported crash, I was traveling from the airfield in the west to norvo as reported before; uploaded another rar file. I was also on a different server this time.
fourth crash, I was with a friend, he lagged and glitched to a different nearby location when I crashed (We were both on the main road), he lagged off the road. This time I was headed from norvo to the airfield.
Does it have to be after a crash? or will it have logs of my earlier crashes? I recently played without crashing, and I noticed the .mdmp file is empty. But I can always reproduce the crash and re-upload the .rar if needed.
I just had another crash, trying to change the quality from low to high. I think the server was restarting at the same time.

I disagree with the above reporter. If they want to make more of a challenge, they should find another way as spawning zombies like that is a very cheap tactic. I think a fun part of the game is having the players be more of a threat than the zombies anyway; but that's just my opinion. I have noticed that shooting a loud gun, tends to draw (or spawn) more zombies; which I do like because it makes sense. But I don't like it when I'm melee-ing a few zombies and then a few more spawn behind me.
I agree on the 0.48 stable being worse. It seems to have increased the hit box and the zombie respawn issue. I can't even stand to play right now. Hopefully this will be fixed in the later patches.
This is really frustrating me too. One hit ruined my pants and a few items in them, then I spend time reaqcuiring the pants/items and it happens again. Both times with one zombie, one hit. I probably wont be playing until the next update. I can't stand the one hit ruin/constant zombie respawns on this patch.
same here, I have a gtx 580 with approx. 4047mb and only 2048mb is being recognized.
I'm getting terrible fps in cities as well. Especially if there's people in it or I'm with people. I run the game on low and very low settings. I have:
intel i7 core
Nvidia gtx 580
8gb RAm
windows vista 64 bit
Asus p6t deluxe motherboard
