Been playing quite a lot, but to be honest, when you're running from hostile fire, and you suddenly have to slow down and take LONGER than in Arma 2 to climb over something...well, it's irritating, to say the least. I'd like at least a running vault, but what I think could be really cool would be a 'climb' button. I know it'd be hard, but you could conceivably climb over things in your way. I'm not talking like parkour, but maybe being able to climb up the sides of buildings, rocks or things along those lines would be awesome.
Mostly just a suggestion. :)

The vault could be implemented like they did in ACE, jogging and sprint have a faster vault move but it uses the slower default while walking. As for the climbing up sides of buildings I don't really think that it would be realistic for the soldiers to be scaling buildings with all their gear.
There should something like a Dive Roll for Infantry. Although there should be multiple Animations for multiple Gear Settings.
You simply can't roll over your Backpack most of the Time but in most cases it would be sufficient that you could "jump" into cover.
So instead of having to stop (halt) to drop to the floor, if a Player is running the Model would make a small leap forward and switch over to the prone state.
Without an Backpack you could make a classic Dive Roll which get's you over hip height obstacles and puts you into High Stance again which allows for running again.

About scaling Buildings: It is quite easy to climb a Wall with even a 40kg Backpack. This is a common training exercise with many Military Forces. All you need is a fast pace and your main foot pressed against the Wall in the right moment to lift your self enough to catch at least the edge of the obstruction.
But this should also lead to implementation of helping each other up and down on an obstruction.
I really hope they add this in!
If they don't, I'm quite certain somebody will make this as a mod.
Of Course there well be a Mod for almost anything that is nice and cool like it was with ARMA and ARMA2.
The Problem is - and I don't think that Steam Workshop changes anything at this - that many Servers will not use them or they rely on other Mods that you do not want.
Like ShackTacs Little Bird Enhancements do not function without ace.
Or much simpler - try to figure out which Version of JSRS & CBA a Server allows with nothing more than the Signature Shown in die Game Browser. :)

Doesn't compromise the standard vault, as a concept allows fluid movement versus the jarring low-distance vault currently in the game.
I actually really like that vault. Let say you approaching building and you aim at a window you can vault and still aim at window which is really cool. But when you running away from fire or running to building there should be running vault.
There actually is a running vault animation (seen it in bis anim viewer). I guess thay just did not yet fully implement it.
Is there a wall climb feature request somewhere ? Climbing is different from vaulting. I think both are mandatory features, but remain separate issues.

A literal vault based on the current step over system wouldn't look very immersive because the hand used as aid wouldn't connect with whatever fence or obstacle you are crossing most of the time.
I'd rather have a leap over animation if you press v while running that allows players to cross small fences and stuff faster but without the ability to shoot while doing it like the normal step over.
Good idea. I constantly find myself pressing vault while sprinting, thinking its going to do a running vault, only to find my guy stop, and then vault. In a battle situation, that can be deadly.
This better happen for sure It is crazy that this is the third installment and this hasn't been done already! Come on BIS do this now!!!!!!!!! We need it! Listen to the majority! Most of us want it! So it should be settled! Just do it!

Unless you are carrying some extreme laods, generally speaking, you can jump forward and dive over a log, or something of that nature to get cover.
Yeah, you might be bruised at the end, or hurt like hell, but at least you're not dead from a bullet in the noggin.

It would be better if when running and you press V you would do the standard vault, except quite a bit faster, but if you hold down V you will jump.
Just adding this obviously to find a way to separate the two possible kinds of vaulting.
Yea the controls are still awkward when trying to move over an obstacle. This is a move in the right direction although it still needs work. i.e the ability to climb over small walls.
Move around the obstacle. Like someone said - this isn't die hard. So far I never had to jump, and with the heavy load im carrying I lose stamina enough just moving around. And so far I never had to "Jump" even once.
Im sure addon makers can give you hopping skills soon.
