@Geez I can confirm, even after "verifying integrity of game files..." several times and doing clean reinstall. @Beav You could add to the description or title, that this is regarding version 1.04.151915

Can confirm, same issue.

Getting the same issue. In previous builds this has happened once in a while, but exiting the game and restarting used to be enough to circumvent it. Now it doesn't help, Hardware Antialiasing is definitely broken.

Specs:
i7-4790 3.60 GHz
16 GB RAM
Geforce GTX 1070
2560x1440 resolution and everything on extreme

Hello everyone.
We have been testing the issue but so far, no luck in reproducing it. Does the issue persist even if you use freshly generated files in C:\Users\*username*\Documents\DayZ? (New files are generated when the old ones are deleted and the game is launched.). And if so, is there a possibility some kind of third party software interacts with DayZ and causes this issue?
Regards,
Geez

@Geez For some reason I am currently unable to reproduce the issue even though nothing has changed. There was no update nor did I do anything that I hadn't tried before. It used to occur when enabling HWAA and then restarting the game...curious how it is for the others

@Geez @freerider3434 I just now tried it again ... enable hardware anti aliasing and foliage smoothing again get the same black screen , disabled foliage smoothing still same, disabled hardware anti aliasing and it works again, instantly Im using gtx 1060 6GB , nvidia video driver version 430.86
video res 1920x1080x32, I have discord running and razer synapse and icue for my wireless headset .. that's it no other background apps running .. turned off discord .. same

If you have hardware anti aliasing off then open the game you can't see the issue until you, enable it and exit the game and start it back up

Hello chainsawsquirrel.
If you disable every single program running on the computer except for dayz, does the issue still occur?

Geez

My son's computer, just checked his .. he doesn't have the issue , hardware antialiasing on, works fine he does have 1903 win10 , and Intel i7-7700 Processor and gtx 1070 same drivers as mine

Just got finished with updating win 10 to 1903 .. same issue for me

@Geez have a I5 4690k Cpu, 16gb ram , Im wondering if it possibly has to do with older CPU ?? as my son has the I7700k and I see above other user has a older i7-4790 as well both are Ark Processors

My monitor resolution is 1920x1080x32 in game and out of game if that is a question same as my sons

After the hotfix update today I have the issue again now. It can only be solved by turning HWAA completely off.

After yesterday's patch HWAA works flawlessly for me, couldn't reproduce again.

Still the same here after yesterday's hotfix patch, only can play with Hardware AA disabled

Beavis added a comment.EditedJun 26 2019, 6:35 AM

Problem was back for me after yesterday's patch, but verifying game files did fix it - for one session. After I closed the game because of the emote wheel bug, the problem is back. I should not need to verify files every time I exit the game, no?

I'm having same issue as Beavis stated, it works after I verify files, but once I have a client crash or have to force close the client for example because of the emote wheel bug, then I have to re-verify files again to fix. As long as I don't crash the hardware AA working ok.

Actually I'm still having this issue even when I exit normally (without crashing)! So I'm not able to reproduce it, once I turn hardware AA off though it works normal again.

@Geez After todays patch .. I tried it still had the issue ...decided to look in the dayz docs folder found some odd mod info in there ( zomberry for one ) so I just decided to delete the folder, logged into dayz, options enable hwaa, saved all good, played a lil while , logged out and shut down the game, restarted and its now working as normal .. really strange .. maybe the install should just delete the folder by default?

Hello everyone.
If you are still experiencing the issue, can you send us the contents of your C:\Users\*username*\Documents\DayZ folder? Also, does deleting the contents and generating new ones through launching the game resolve the issue as it was in chainsawsquirrels case? Also, are you running any mods on client? And if you disable the mods, does the issue still occur?
Regards,
Geez

@Geez Deleting files/verifiyng files with boxes ticket does not help. No mods.

Hello everyone.
It appears that the cause of the issue is actually a combination of Hardware Antialising and Ambient occlusion being set to either medium or high. Can you please confirm?
Regards,
Geez

Nope.
I tried all levels of ambient occlusion. All of them result in the frame being frozen as soon as I turn on HWAA.

@Geez you are correct - Set HWAA to high and Ambient occlusion to High and the issue is back, disabled HWAA and lowered Ambient occlusion to low saved, and then re-enabled HWAA to med and Ambient occlusion low and its working again

If you disable the Ambient occlusion completely and keep HWAA enabled, do you still experience the issue? (upon restarting the game after doing so)

@bseunhir did you delete your dayz folder in Documents before trying ? If not do that with game off, then log back into game turn on hwaa med and set Ambient occlusion low and see what you get

@Geez

AO: Disabled - HWAA: Disabled = No issues
AO: Disabled - HWAA: Low = No issues
AO: Disabled - HWAA: Medium = No issues
AO: Disabled - HWAA: High = No issues

AO: Low - HWAA: Disabled = No issues
AO: Low - HWAA: Low = No issues
AO: Low - HWAA: Medium = No issues
AO: Low - HWAA: High = No issues

AO: Medium - HWAA: Disabled = No issues
AO: Medium - HWAA: Low = Black Screen
AO: Medium - HWAA: Medium = Black Screen
AO: Medium - HWAA: High = Black Screen

AO: High - HWAA: Disabled = No issues
AO: High - HWAA: Low = Black Screen
AO: High - HWAA: Medium = Black Screen
AO: High - HWAA: High = Black Screen

Results with AO set to 'Extreme' end up being the same as with it being set to 'High' or 'Medium' with the only difference being, that after every game restart AO is automatically set back from 'extreme' to 'high' again. Perhaps the 'Extreme' option for AO doesn't even exist in the game yet?

Thank you, this corresponds with our internal testing. As for the extreme setting, we will look into it.

Got this issue with latest stable, even though in patch notes it says it was fixed. I had AO disabled and HW AA Medium.

Hello theRealRobalo.
Did the issue persist even upon removing the files from C:\Users\*username*\Documents\DayZ folder and letting the game generate new ones?
