Screen sized fully black window overlaying game view
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

When starting DayZ (no mods, no parameters) whether directly or from the launcher the menu opens with a black background as shown in the image. {F1045030}In the Menu UI-Elements are visible and only black background, but in game everything is hidden behind the black window. I can hear wind and when I’m running and other people can see me no problem, but I only see the black window covering the full screen (Overlay, Inventory and menu are still visible but with the black background

).

Additional Information

A solution I found was to change the resolution, if I for example start the game with a resolution of 1680, (tested starting with and changing to multiple resolution all had the same outcome) I can simply change resolution and the black window is gone, but when changing back to the starting resolution (1680 in this case) the window reappears.

This can also be reliably prevented if the mod BuildAnywhere is active. Others may also work, but out of the 10 I tested, this was the one that fixed my issue.

This black window overlaying the whole screen also sometimes occurs when aiming down sight with a weapon (happened with CR-75 and SG5-K with default, Baraka, ATOG and Combat Sights). This was occurring on only one weapon at a time (I think the one in my hand when logging in) and it would not be possible to look through the sight on the “bugged gun” (for me, all my friends were able to). A relog on the server was fixing this reliably.

@Geez DUPLICATE of T141158

@SpeedMann

Hello everyone.
It appears that the cause of the issue is actually a combination of Hardware Antialising >and Ambient occlusion being set to either medium or high.

Geez
