Syn added a comment to T80711: Easy way to significantly improve the clunky action menu.

With 582 votes up it feels like its about time to get a developer answer! It would be great to know if this is in their current or future plans for a fix.

The issue with a radial menu, is that it creates the same problem. Instead of a scrollable box, we get a navigatable rose.

We don't need 20 unrelated options arranged in a beautifully animated blooming rose, we need contextual actions that work without fuss. I walk to a door? The contextual action should be to open it. Nothing else.

A quick action works, the self/other action variant proposed by mr. Dsylecxi sounds like the way to go. No fuss to open a door, mount a vehicle, or drag a body.

All of my yes. Dscylecxi's list of fixes also looks absolutely awesome and intuitive.
We are past the OFP days, guys. Lets move on. At least, lets change weapons through a different thing than a scrollwheel. Shift+1 works awesomely. Why are we still here?

yeah, the million dollar calculation was absolutely hilarious, par for the course of his argument.Don't engage. Sealions just can't stop. It's not in their nature.

Ok, we really need a cleanup here now. Don't feed the trolls, people.

A bit off topic, but, mods, can we please remove the trolls out of this? It's polluting the discussion.

To everyone else, please don't feed the troll(s).

+1! There should be a few female playable models.

Still happening on the dev branch. Is the fix released?

@tulx

Same here, it's a real shame. The dev silence is pretty uncool.

If i remember correctly, it happens in both islands for me. I'll check again today. An OS replacement is in no way or manner an acceptable fix. It's been long enough, I think. Bohemia needs to stomp this one out.

Yeah, this is getting rather frustrating. I haven't been able to play for quiite a while now, arma without vehicles is not Arma. Can we get a proper dev update on this?

Agreed. Every single flyable aspect of the game is unplayable for many of us. An update would be appreciated.

Played breaking point yesterday, joysticks weren't recognised. So no.

This problem is back for me. I have a saitek x52pro.
Played for a few hours today, with no problems, then my joystick suddenly dc'd on me. I tried reinstalling drivers, to no avail. I can no longer play.

I boot arma, and the joystick is recognised, with all imputs showing up correctly. However the minute i boot up a mission or an editor preview, arma no longer sees the joystick, or the joystick inputs. It still sees its mouse emulation, though. The mouse scroll on the throttle still registers.

I am also on 8.1x64.

Yep, it is borked for good, i can no longer fly in arma 3. If i load a mission, the controls dont work, and I get one chance to look at controller inputs, whether in game or at the menu. They are detected properly. Then, if i check again, controllers are no longer recognised, with the exception of track ir. Both the CH pedals and the x52 are gone.
I'll try reinstalling arma and reporting back.

Dammit, i really wanted to fly this week.

Syn added a comment to T64011: Suppression effect for players.

I understand where this come from, but it works for more arcadey versions of these games, such as BF3 and RO2, where their implementation is needed, and well thought. Both of those games happen on mid sized maps, closed. This creates hotspots where players tend to run like like lemmings. Just connect to any of those games and check it.

In arma, the lethality of the weapons is such, that the psychological effect of being fired upon, just happens. Of course i'm not scared for my life, but i'd rather keep playing and be useful, in the spirit of the game, than commit stupid suicide. This happens on every single organised multiplayer game of arma i´ve been into. There are no respawns, so you just make it count. Your soldier is a fragile thing, and you feel it the second the guy you were just talking to just slumps over, dead.

However, I would like some sort of suppression implementation for AI, such an important and basic thing in combat such as covering fire, for fire and maneuver for example, doesnt work against them. They should try to relocate, or just lie suppressed if say, pinned down by a LMG.

Syn added a comment to T59104: Can't properly map Controller/Joystick.

Still not working. I have the same problem with TOH, and was asked by support to post here about it.

I can map most of the buttons just fine, with the exception of the 2nd hat directional switch on the cyclic, and many buttons in the throttle. Clutch button (which is disables in the saitek driver), the other hat switch. If it switch to the profiler, the game recognizes de shortucts forced by the joystick, but dont take them into consideration when in the game. For example, I tried to program mode 1 as default, with the shortucts for throttle 1 and 2 to increase/decrease. The shortcuts are seen by TOH: When i click the switches in the assign button, the input works. However, when in game, nothing happens. Same with the throttle: Right Ctrl + K for release trim is recognised as Ctrl-K for the compass, and again, the shortcut doesnt work, except when i double click the joystick key? Weird stuff.

My driver and profiler version is
7_0_27_13.

Which are the latest drivers and software? Where can i get them? Using the Saitek Profiler has brought me a lot of pain.

Same problem. Can't map these buttons, and the saitek profiler makes a mess when a profile is on. The pinkie switch shuts down, and the engine increase and decrease shortcuts, while working clearly on the assign button screen, do nothing in game, as well as the clutch button.

Colin, i'm sorry. But you are clearly not a coder, a modeller, and i'm having trouble believing you are an adult. Please relax, accept the good news, and if you are so angry go play something, vent, then come back.

Oh, i totally understand that. It's just that a single dev response is probably in order. this is just blatantly covering their ears and singing.

The thing is, Svarr, not every server you play in allows clientside mods, and not all servers have it. It was a feature that worked acceptably well in A2, remember? As of now, LMG carriers are quite useless. That's a quarter of a classic fireteam, not being able to play their role.

However, what really bothers is the lack of feedback. This is easily one of the most upvoted issues on the entirety of the bug tracker, and there has not been a single developer answer. I'm going to go on a limb and say they are purposefully ignoring it. It's like their PR team is doing the priority work here.

As a part of the community BIS usually uses to sell their games, this is insulting. A single thought out answer to the hundereds of people who are asking for this would do a lot of good, and yet players are ignored. It's a fairly basic need for a game that is mainly an infantry simulator. It IS getting ridiculous.

it's utterly ridiculous that after 2 full campaign episodes this hasn't been adressed. It worked in ArmA2, why the hell don't they work here?

It is also a huge slap in the face to a loving community that there is not a single developer post in here, acknowledging the problem. Hugely disrespectful. Is there anywhere any word from them regarding this? It's becoming stupid.
