Yes the sensitivity has to be tweaked, it's way too high by default and not low enough on minimum setting.
@contemplativity acceleration problem is not the main issue reported.
Read before post please.
@smaddeus : Well, read the coms here : http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=76#c79
I'm not the only one who experience variable sensibility depending on how fast i move my mouse, so i doubt it's on my end. :)
Anyway, this thread is only to report the latency/mouse lag since the negative acceleration was already reported by the guy in the link above.
@smaddeus Yes the link point only to a bug of the accel button in the menu, but i think it's directly linked to the issue we experience in game, we will see.
But about the acceleration you describe i never experienced this in games, generally when peoples say positive acceleration it mean faster you are moving your mouse, farther cursor will travel on the screen.
and negative acceleration mean faster your mouse is moving, less distance cursor will travel
DayZ has negative accel, faster you move your mouse less your view will move in game.
In perfect world it should be 1/1 for mouse/view
Tested with your setting Sgt.Tabbykatze, sensi windows was already at 6/11 changed 400dpi for 1600 and ingame x=1 y=1 instead x=0.3 y=0.3, mouseSmoothing=0; was already at 0.
And still feel the same for latency and negative accel.
To best see if you got this latency, you can go inside a building in first person view, hold "Alt", look at the wall at your left then move your mouse fast to look the wall at your right and stop net your movement, the view take 1 sec to arrive where you are looking. it's the best way to see the mouse lag i'm talking about.
For the negative acceleration the issue was already reported and even high in the list as i can see with your link @root, that's a good thing, upvoted.
Yes VSync always off in any game, i should have precised,
but you are right it feels like vsynch on with very bad fps (but i'm sure it's off, i got 80-90 fps on 60hz monitor)
You don't experience this ?
What's your mouse model, DPI, sensi windows and sensi in game please.
A scope with x4 magnification should make the things appear 4 times bigger on your screen no matter your FOV, not 6 times bigger with 90 FOV or 2 times bigger with 40 FOV.
That why fixed scope FOV is wrong and probably why they didn't changed it.
If they want counter FOV abusers they better lock this setting ingame until reboot, cause peoples abusing this setting don't do it only with scope but with the normal view as well, i saw a streamer do it in live in front of 2K viewers..
FOV should stay the same scoped or no, it only depend of the width of your screen and the distance you are seated from it, nothing more. More info of how to calculate it here : http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=215833
Basically what you want is benefit of extra wide view in TPS to see everything around but benefit also of ultra zoom while scoping, you cant have both IMHO.
It will disadvantage too much the guys who don't want to play with abused fish eye view.
Yes they did a great job on this, i saw so much noobs giving up on the game just because of the old controls..
But now the default mouse sensitivity need to be tweaked, it's way too high even on low.
Vote up this thread if you want more adjustment :
@justlilme
You was right, was for this week on exp branch ^^
And i need to say, the result exceed all my expectations!
Didn't tested yet with a gun in hand, but as fresh spawn the character control is perfect now (400dpi - win 6/11 - cursor enhancement unticked).
just the sensitivity by default is way too high imho, and the sensi slider need more steps between the minimum and the first step (editable in the config file for now)
Beside that, very good update ! (0.44.123800)
Any news about when a fix will be pushed to experimental branch ?
Waiting this to reinstall Dayz.
If it was really intended to be like that, then it's one of the most frustrating game mechanic ever implanted, cause there a lot possibility to avoid this without make your mouse feel like faulty.
@hashes, can you post the line to edit directly here, or upload it on normal file sharing web site please, this one doesn't work.
Gamefront for example is better, no bs code locker ect :

Can you give more info about your 2 config, pls
You run the same windows version on both ?
Same mouse ? if not, can you try your mouse on your second system to see if it come from the mouse or no.
More info would be much appreciated.
Apparently they don't want remove the mouse acceleration but redo it, i saw a post from rocket on reddit : "Certainly we want to redo the mouse accel, and we have designers writing up proposals, but this takes time and needs to be considered carefully."

Same, but i got negative acceleration on horizontal axis AND positive acceleration on vertical axis.
Means : if i look very slowly up/down, the view barely move, but if i do the same very fast, i'm able to watch my feet then the sky for the same mouse movement..
Looking right/left have the opposite effect.
I don't like acceleration, making it really hard to play right now.
Voted up!
Exclusion filter is very important when a mod become too popular and the servers list spammed by +10000 unwanted servers.
Really hope they will add it.
