Here are the reasons for which I have written about the problem:
- optics by helicopter mi-28/ka-52 not look like this, and is more comfortable in fact.
- The optics can not be contaminated if the helicopter was not raised in the air.
- The optics can not be contaminated only by helicopter red side.

I would not be writing about it as ah-99 is better than the mi-48 with the following characteristics:
- maneuverability.
- the number of anti-personnel weapons.
- the number of anti-tank weapons.
- the number of anti-aircraft weapons.
- the ability to control the helicopter and firing one member of the crew.
- cheat, highlighting enemy armored vehicles.
- the size of optics.
- a clear optics.
- threat warning system.

I agree, While playing a player mission I had to land the chopper on a hill overlooking the killzone and while I should have been able to simply jump in the gunner seat and lay waste to the AI, I had to keep jumping out an using my eyes to find targets rather than the thermals due to the lens filth.
The Comanche is amazing and handles perfectly as it should, please clean the thermals so that the Opfor's can handle as well and won't be overlooked.
On second play through I grabbed an armored Ifrit instead because I knew it had clean lens.

- this game is not Battlefield 3/4, thanks god, and weapons there aren't just carbon copies of each other. AH-99 and Mi-48 must not be the same choppers with different skins. Yeah they are to dirty, they add an extra layer of texture that might confuse on some occasions. My sink is cleaner than military grade optics.

Its good to see so many people taking an active part in bug reporting/feature requesting, that being said, the issue here is not of balance but of aesthetics, you must remember that at its core arma is NOT a balanced game, it is in fact referred to as an a-symmetrically balanced game, I.E if you go back to the arma 2 days, OPFor were often the much weaker side, this is counteracted by the fact that the mission maker would either give them strategic advantages or greater numbers.
Yeah, but what helicopter pilot would trust his life with optics so dirty he can barely see out of them, rather than telling the crew to clean it?
Would you drive your car if your windsheild was covered in mud, even partially? Or would you get out and WASH it?

Correct, Arma is not a balanced game. This however isn't an issue with gameplay, it's not a complaint of one vehicle being better than another. It's an issue with a texture chosen for pointless aesthetic reasons that creates an artifical hinderence against players on one side.
I don't think this issue is anything about balance, it just doesn't really make any sense. It doesn't even look dirty, just grey.

Where it concerns the maintenance of equipment that will save their lives, soldiers and pilots are anal about keeping their stuff in order. The same way that the action of their rifle is kept obsessively clean the same will is true of optics and canopy glass.
Seems people will fight against just about anything these days for any reason. Some of you need to image search helicopter optics and find a picture of them having any smudges and smears upon them, or the glass being anything less than pristine, you won't find it unless the bird is in a sandstorm.
Thing to keep in mind, helicopters have FAR more zoom capability irl than they do in Arma, what seems like a tiny scratch could streak across the whole image when fully zoomed in.
Redstone had to supervise some maintenance the CSAT guys completely forgot about.
Lenses should be cleaned in the next dev. build ;)
