We tried parachutes on our server, with both land and water landings, the server kept running fine. Maybe it's something to do with the mission?

Hmm? How the hell do you deploy a parachute when you can't even eject yet?

i got this reproduced when i went up with 2 others in an orca (dedicated server, wasteland mission)

the 2 passengers ejected, and i got out by using deletevehicle on the orca (pilots cant eject) as soon as i openned my chute server crashed.

This same issue has happened to me on my server that I was hosting off of my computer. We all flew up into the air and jumped. Everyone else was able to land safely on the ground before me. The second I hit the ground there were about 3 popping noises in the speakers and at the same time the screen turned to a light blue screen. About 10 seconds after that the error message popped up saying that Arma had crashed.
I'm not sure where to find the crash files so if you could tell me how to I will include them as well.

The issue seems to happen only for the host. I have reproduced it 3 times now by doing the same thing. In addition after my game started popping and crashed, all the people on the server experienced the same issue and crashed.

Still; no repro mission, no crash dumps - possibly no resolution.

Hmmm i didn't even knew there where shutes in the beta haven't seen them in anny vehicle. Is there some init coding to be done or a module i am missing? Or is it somthing only for pilots. Plz tell me so i can try out and see if this really his a game bug or a client side bug.

@Raoul1234: Apparently they're only in the Green army's helicopter. And you can only eject as passenger.

Well thats weird... I'd sugest downloading the BJ(basejump) Map form Aholic testing out all factions enc with parashutes. Note i haven't crashed so far...

I could give you a "repro mission and crash dumps" if you mind telling where I find them at? I don't know where to find those files at. And I don't know why you changed the status to not being urgent anymore Fireball. It is impossible to use the parachutes without crashing the game.

Bug #10054, "After parachuting to ground, Game Crashes Upon Touchdown!" might be related, however you get your crash on parachute deploy, versus after touchdown.

Upon touchdown here, I found the game causes the player to explode or create a crater with smoke; if player deploys parachute at less than 100km and immediately deaccelerates to approximately 0km/hr just prior to touchdown with the ground.

This might be AI soldiers related. In a simple mission I've created, just a free fall, everything works fine, when there are no AIs deploying parachutes.

No just tested it again upon 100M going therminal velocity and i tried it with IA. Fuckers didnt even deploy they're shutes half of the time but when they did nothing bad happend. Checked my fps and debug nothing unexpected or missing files enc enc enc that coudl a crash.

We have to go deeper.

The game crashes if AI jumps off moving chopper and open parachutes. Game dosent seem to crash if the chopper is flying still.

Here is the crashdumps (I sent earlier the same files to dwarden via email).

I use, this code to get the units to jump:

Chopper was spawned if that matters, and it was the green transport chopper or ghosthawk. Tested in SP.

Its because the shutes are archived as vehicles. They should be put as launcher not vehicle if in A2 you would rescript shutes as vehicle(did it bc of the cargo shutes needed to be clustered for ealism) Your engine doesnt understand what the hell to do. I mean you collide with it but its attached to you -> YOu suddently stop witch means increase of of colllisions-> Damage taken makes shute explode-> A3 engine weird enough to render smoke enc on the ground instad of air->"shute wreck" glitches out due to random game engine input-> game cant handle it so crashes.

YEP it crashes. time to get on it devs...

I tried to make a repro mission, but it only crashed once (dumps attached), when I tried it. Can you have a look at it and refine it, SaOk?

Okay, here. I edited that your example and it seem to crash everytime player's group jumps of the chopper. You can sometimes see the chopper exploding and then the game stops.

Edit: Also attached the file now (I failed spot that function before).

Ok, time like that from the beginning or you'll wait for fixes that long again.

We experienced this bug 3 times last night with 45+ people on the server.
We where gonna do para jumping for the entire platoon, but 3 times in a row at the exact same time, the server crashed.
At the same time server was crashing, we all heard popping noises in our speakers, as if it was switching from stereo to mono and back again, over and over.

The crash happened the second people jumped out and started deploying shuttes.
Could it be possible this is related to high amount of players somehow?

We have done the parachute jump with 10-20 people just fine, but as soon as you get over 40, it crashes every time.

I just did this with 3 ai... crashed the game.. same counts for servers when i tried tis with 3 peopel crashed server and game..

Should also note, sometimes when you exit the helicopter (with doors opened or closed), the player will die. They likely die because the helicopter was moving above a set speed or velocity, or maybe the player hit the helicopter.

I haven't performed enough jumps to further narrow what causes the exact cause of player death. So should consider this bug may also occur upon the player exiting the helicopter and dieing. (Also, within the multiplayer environment, players sometimes have mods/scripts loaded as well as within the server.)

this i s a realy annoying bug witch for me happens 88% of the time i hope they fix this in futer. it eve crashes servers when hosting from the in game host.

There was something about a burning parachute being fixed within the recent Change Log from yesterday for the developer version.

Seems fixed to me.

Mass closing resolved issues not updated since November.
