Mouse clipping to fullscreen
Assigned, WishlistPublic

Description

Can we get the mouse to clip to full screen, I'm sure plenty of us are using two or three monitors but only playing on one. Any time you can move the mouse in game, you can click out of the arma3 application and it will minimise.

No idea why someone would down vote this kinda stuff without giving a reason.

Who knows?! Angry person, give us your reasons!

Tested this in full screen windowed mode to see if it would lock the application. It still doesn't keep focus.

This issue was processed by our team and will be looked into. We thank you for your feedback.

Please keep the issue monitored to see when it is fixed.

Any progress on this issue? Was reported over a year ago and it's really annoying for those of us with multiple screens.

I've had times when playing multiplayer in the middle of a fight and it minimizes and that has put me at a disadvantage while I try get back in to game!

Edit: I notice reported OS for this ticket is Windows 7. I am on Windows 8.1 64bit with the same issue.

Agreed, it would be nice to see this fixed as currently every time I press inventory in a rush I accidentally click off the screen and minimize my game.

Can we not just set the maximum area of mouse travel to match the game resolution?

This thing is a real annoyance, sometimes even game breaking because constantly switching from fullscreen to desktop causes game crashes for some people.

Any progress on this? It's a right pain in the ass on my triple monitor setup. I constantly click besides the window, even when I'm not using a UI, forcing Arma III to minimize.

Yea I hate this issue, one of the dev's suggested to just use Fullscreen Window mode basically Borderless Windowed mode.

This happens to me WHILE I'm in fullscreen mode, not windowed. My cursor moves to my other monitors simply by moving my character around.

For now I'm working around the issue by using DisplayFusion's mouse locking functionality. But this really should be a default option in the game.

I'm almost glad to see I'm not the only one with that problem.
It's a really annoying issue that leads to the game minimizing and accidentally clicking on another window on another monitor.

I could observe strange mouse movement behavior when doing this:

With these steps I can reproduce the error easily in no time (min. 2 Monitors needed to reproduce):

  • Load a game/any map/scenario, open your soldiers inventory with I(i) button
  • mouse should appear in the center of the monitor the very 1st time
  • move mouse slightly (not persistent) any direction, close inventory again with I button
  • open inventory again, don't move this time
  • close inventory again, and open it up again
  • now every time you close/-re enter inventory the mouse will shift further.
  • repeat every direction you want, when it goes towards the direction of the other monitor it's when the game minimizes because the mouse is out of bound of the game's monitor.

I found a tool that will lock the mouse to the active monitor, even got a profile management, so the mouse can just be locked to active screen while Arma 3 is the active window:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/mousenitor

For now a good solution to me until BI will fix this issue.
Hope I could help in any way, cheers :)

Thanks ChuWie, that's a nice temporary solution, will be using it for now!

Bump on this issue as we really shouldn't need 3rd party software to do this.

I'm amazed that this is still an issue...
Just to add some more information, it also happens on Windows 10 (even though I doubt this has anything to do with OS version).

It (rightclicking to zoom in a weapon after having checked inventory, only to have arma minimize and me rightclicking for instance Teamspeak on a secondary monitor) usually happens a few times per gamenight, and when you need to keep tabs on several layers of radio coms, having to deal with "randomly" minimizing arma windows is not something you want to stack ontop of it all.

This is reaching new levels of annoyance once combined with ACE's interaction system where as the medic I managed to minimise the game by accident a staggering 18 times last night.

Also Mousenitor doesn't work under Windows 10 so my bandaid fix doesn't work anymore. Can anyone seriously have a look at this? Wasn't a bunch of UI scripting commands put in recently to do with cursor/UI implementation, is there anything in there than can help?

Having this exact same issue in the Linux version of the game. It's essentially unplayable without a hack to lock the mouse to the window and/or the screen depending on which mode I want to play in. I can't even click around in the menu when it's in fullscreen mode, needing to use the keyboard instead. Let me know if there's any info I can give to fix this because it still needs fixing.

Are you guys going to fix this or not? Anybody with multiple monitors are having this issue? It makes the game unplayable when its constantly going to desktop!

This is important. Please fix this.
