I had this issue with ArmA II with my joystick. I found out that instead of just re-binding the controls, just go into your control settings, find the Controllers button, and then enable the appropriate controller.

The problem isn't at high speeds. It's at very low speeds, where reversing SHOULD have a noticeable effect.

I can understand being seen from directly above, by not by units that are 50-100 meters in a lateral direction from a 6-foot target under 5 feet of water w/ high waves.
