I also commented on another thread about this, and we got a canned response from a DEV update a while ago about the problem being tied to server dates.

I agree with the overall sentiment of this suggestion, however, the FN FAL was originally designed as a select fire firearm. The British mainstream adoption of the FN FAL came as the L1A1, which itself wasn't select fire; the L1A1 was semi-auto only, much like later variations of the United States M14.

If it helps, my Steam Profile can be found here.
I am seconding this.

This appears to be affecting multiple guns (i.e., SKS, Mosin, etc.) and seems tied to another UI bug. The Cowboy Repeater today seems to be working fine, but other guns (such as a Sporter .22 I picked up earlier) exhibited the same behavior as the previous comment details. I suspect an as-of-yet unidentified UI bug causing this.

EDIT: This is no longer occurring on the server I reference below. Other servers do not exhibit this behavior, either. It was possibly resolve with a recent hotfix.
I would like to second the idea of making certain common-use tools, like binoculars, compasses, bipods, weapon flashlights, and so on bind-able to a hotkey. These are items which should not require a lot of interactive thought to use, as they would be second-nature tools.

For what it is worth, I also agree with the sentiments expressed here. I have actually gone so far as to use TAB as my *default* method for searching for loot, as it is more "accurate" than trying to sift through grass and other visual obstructions around loot.
As a forward and reference to my comments below, my render resolution is set to 100%, or native for 1920x1080.

I have seen a similar (and likely connected) bug related to this one.
