[Suggestion] Complete selective fire modes and associate a UI and/or animation indicator
New, NormalPublic

Description

Good afternoon dear developers,

I have noticed that most selective fire weapon are actually single fire mode weapon, except for two of them : Steyr AUG and M4A1.

In real life, most selective fire weapon are used semi-automatically for precision purposes. A full automatic mode or burst mode is used only for defense purposes. Therefore, most automatic weapon being full-auto only, it makes every precision shooting job more difficult. I would like to suggest completing the selective fire modes for the following weapons.

ONLY DISPLAYING A FULL AUTO MODE (should therefore display a semi-auto mode in addition) :

ONLY DISPLAYING A SEMI-AUTO MODE (should display a full auto mode) :

I would also like to suggest adding a UI and/or animation indicator for the fire mode.

What I mean by an animation indicator is the select-fire button moving on the weapon according to the fire mode.

Thank you for your attention.

TL;DR: I want to fire round by round :'-(

I agree with the overall sentiment of this suggestion, however, the FN FAL was originally designed as a select fire firearm. The British mainstream adoption of the FN FAL came as the L1A1, which itself wasn't select fire; the L1A1 was semi-auto only, much like later variations of the United States M14.

It is reasonable, then, that the FN FAL in-game could be a select fire weapon if the original FN FAL is the basis for this gun in-game.

In closing, I would strongly recommend the addition of select-fire toggles since during the 0.61 milestone we are modifying weapon animations and sounds as part of the ARMA3 sound engine integration. It makes logical sense at this juncture to include this functionality.

I also agree ! and I hope devs will considering this suggest. Very good idea

That's indeed what I meant.

Hey everyone,

As far as I know, this is still an issue on .61.

Hey Everyone and Tartine in particulair,

the amount of effort that went into this subject is massive in comparison to others.
Although I like the idea, I don't think this is something a lot of people will use.
BUT, I do totally agree with you about the not visible mode, this should definitely have a position just like the ranging for a gun...
Hope the devs will take note, at least for the mode visibility

Yeah, you're probably right. It's not a priority compared to game optimization.

@Geez hi :)

Maybe close this ticket as obsolete?
