still reproducible on 1.0.0.98 and happens just as frequently. i think network latency is involved.

It is reliably (100%) reproducible here. Unable to complete a MP game yet.

Hair pinning would be preferable from a security perspective

AFAIK it doesn't need or use the steam query port, the server browser works over HTTP/REST
