A similar thing happened to me, game version 0.34.115106

Same as described above, one gun on back and one in hands, then re-logging to the same server.
But instead of dropping the gun while logging out as described above, my character dropped the gun after logging back in. Then I found 2 guns lying on the floor, with all attachments and ammo duplicated as well.

I was able to reproduce this 100% of the time. If you re-log after a server restart, the gun your hands will be gone though, and it won't duplicate.

Sidenote: I did not log out to duplicate a weapon, I simply did as over to point 2 and then with weapon in hand I emptied the gun for ammo, when I hit X to throw weapon on the ground it duplicated it self. Sorry if this is known already, cant find anything that is similar to my bug. ( 0008166 )

yeah i can confirm this one! i did it 5 times aswell as my friends.. everytime the primary weapon in your hand duplicates (the one on your back stays there)

I think this is also one of the bugs that causes the major FPS drops and lagg spikes!

They aren't duplicated in fact I guess. It happened to me before too. If someone else tries to take the "dropped" weapon of your "duplicate", he will take YOUR weapon. This annoyed me a lot...

While there was a bug that created virtual copies (where you could modify both of them) of the items looted from dead bodies, this one creates true duplicates.

You can duplicate the weapon all its attachment and the ammo doing this. Tested it with a Mosin, my buddy was able to use the scope on his own Mosin without the one on my character disappearing.
I even found an M4A1 lying in the middle of the forest today. I guess someone logged out on that spot (near Electro, behind a tree, so very likely).

Wow that is quite enlightening lol. I guess the "dropped" weapon and the one in your pack have the exact same database ID

If u take one on your hand(in case u have another on yr back) and log out and "log in [without] cool down time" ,u'll see that gun in yr body but u cant see in yr back(have click tab to see that its in body)

If u take one on your hand(in case u have another on yr back) and log out and "log in [with] cool down time" , u will now see the weapon on the ground as well as in your inventory(its in your body. have to click Tab to look)

I believe this issue has been patched.

No more able to reproduce.

I have performed twice (after finding out by accident) and i was able to replicate an M4 4 times on a single server. If you have your slots for melee and gun full, and log out with an m4 in your hands you can relog onto the server, pick up the M4 and there will be another waiting in its place. You are able to duplicate the M4/scopes/mags/ect with this. It could create havoc if a rather un-geared team geared up in a matter of minutes to high quality rare pristine weapons with the best mags/sights/ect. i will provide a video when i get one.

Notes: These two attempts were 12 hours apart and on different servers

       The results were the same
       The first server was well populated/the second was not
       I performed this action in the vicinity of other players/and alone
       I Physically picked up both items and shot them (separately) successfully
       The M4 i picked up was still next to my character after 12 hours

I reproduced this bug as of last night, ie about 12 hours ago.

I uploaded a screenshot of some M4's I cloned inside a house (there are five more M4's lying under a pine tree outside, but it was too hard to get a good screenshot of them.

The cloned weapons can indeed be picked up and handled individually.
