Human Ladder
Reviewed, NormalPublic

Description

In reality i'm sure some people are aware that some militaries & even in situations outside of which "boosting" someone is more plausible that going around an obstacle, such as low walls, high barriers, etc.

The ability to make a human ladder with one person wall squating with their back to the wall, as someone else climbs up on their knees/shoulders to get a "boost" could in many ways help out in gameplay. Smookie last I checked had implemented such before he went on to work at BI, in the future, mostly for urban combat scenarios it should be a nice feature to have. {F17090}

Additional Information

Would best be used in urban combat situations possibly & for stealth missions when going around a wall/making a lot of noise are not suitable.

Ozzisoulja: Soldiers are trained on obstacle courses. There is whats called a 12ft wall funnily enough it measures 12ft lol the technique to scale this requires 3 soldiers 2 boost 1 up he stays on top to assist with the second who also stays on top the 2 on top reach down and grab the arms of the 3rd as he jumps up the wall and is then pulled high enough until he can scale the rest himself. this implemented and a 2 man boost as stated by the OP would be a much needed feature for the game. yeah it may be a long winded animation or it could be done in three segments (probably better and any segment cancelled at any time in case of contact) but this could allow for better fire/overwatch positions not at this time available e.g on top of a container and would be great to make people who work together as a team usually get an added benefit from doing so. But also any soldier should be able to scale a 6ft wall at least.

This could even help some modders with their gameplay, i'm still waiting on my Splinter Cell mod ever since I played the ArmA 2 demo.

How about rappelling for that matter?

+1

That may be a feature since fast ropes were confirmed, unless they were cancelled.

make sure to make a seperate ticket for rappelling though.

It was a bit of a gimmick in Medal of Honor 2010, but did make things seem more realistic.

It may be a gimmick in MoH, you'd be suprised how much it can help in a game that supports it.

Crytek's Warface got a scripted thing like this. Probably harder to get it working in open world game like ArmA but that could be a useful feature in some situations.

I made a report with something like this +1

I Like it. We are in for this too. Good Idea. The game makers want to increase the possibilities then they should do this.

smookie is an animation wiz, hopefully bis does not suffocate his creativity with "dumbing down" bullshit.

He already had a WIP animation of the human ladder in his animations pack, that's partially why I suggested this.

Pretty cool. I remember this from SC:CT.

It's too bad more game devs didn't catch on to how useful SC:CT's implementation of the human ladder could be outside of scripted events.

It's very common in photos of British troops in Afghan to see a couple of guys carrying ladders on their backs - a squad deploy-able ladder would be nice.

Would indeed be cool if you could fire while being boosted just enogh to peek over a wall.

That to I suppose if there was a boost animation & then a climb over.

eh, I don't think this is reallisticaly possible, maybe in some heavily scripted controlled situation, but in sandbox hardly.

It's very possible seeing as Smookie did it in his SMK animations mod before he was recruited to work at BIS.
