Cannot determine the direction of gunshots in 1.13.
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I was running through NWAF on experimental server EU 1825 when I heard gunshots. However, no matter which direction I was facing, there was no indication of which direction the gunshots were being fired from.

Hello cflynn93.
Are you using some kind of audio setup that is different from standard stereo? For example 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system?
Regards,
Geez

Hi Geez, I use a Turtle Beach headset with default settings when playing and always had the ability to perceive the direction of sounds in game. I noticed this issue in 1.13 also affects other sound effects other than gunshots, such as animal calls. You could also hear the direction but less amplified, when sound is output through standard built-in TV set speakers.

Hello cflynn93.
Which specific Turtle Beach headset? Does it use the 5.1/7.1 audio or is this a stereo headset? Also do you mean that you are able to hear the direction if you use the standard tv speakers?
Regards,
Geez

Hi Geez,
I use stereo uncompressed for my earphones that I use to play and I’m having the same issue. If you get someone to shoot at you from 100m and you keep spinning in a circle as they shoot you, you cannot tell where the gunshot is coming from. It sounds like it’s all around you.

Hi Geez,

I use a Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 headset. I believe that it does support virtual 7.1 surround sound but I believe this is enabled through the companion app which I do not have installed. So to my knowledge everything is default settings.

I was on a server last night actually and found it difficult to also pinpoint the location of clucking chickens. Similar to how TheRealTDog has described.

Thank you for the information.
We are currently looking into fixing the issue internally.

Geez

Também não estou conseguindo determinar a direção dos tiros inimigos, meu fone está com a configuração padrão e isso ocorreu depois do lançamento da atualização 1.13

Hello Everyone.
The issue has been fixed internally and we will attempt to deploy the fix as soon as it is possible and has been properly tested.

This update is broken
You can spawn and be losing health instantly
And half a bandage is a joke when you have made the zombies so fast at hitting you

Hi Geez,
Thanks for your updates, but can you please reopen this ticket until the fix has been implemented. It's great that you have an internal fix but that doesn't help us right now running around in circles because the sound location cues aren't working correctly.
This (unless fixed this morning) is still an issue for users and should remain open until resolved for the standard users.
Alternatively please post the date of the expected update being rolled out to fix it.

Thanks again, great game, great fun but issues like this make it very, very frustrating to even log in!

Please comment either way
Kindest regards

Hi Dylan, this fix has already been deployed to Xbox this afternoon.
